SummaryIn this episode of "Echoes Through Eternity," Dr. Jeffrey D. Skinner delves into the often-overlooked dangers of personality-driven church planting. He highlights how the focus on a pastor's charisma can unintentionally shift Jesus to the background, leading to a church culture that prioritizes metrics and visibility over genuine spiritual growth. Drawing on insights from various thought leaders, including Henri Nouwen and Francis Chan, Dr. Skinner emphasizes the importance of maintaining a Christ-centered approach in worship and ministry, warning against the seductive nature of success that can lead to spiritual complacency.Dr. Skinner also discusses the pressures faced by church planters in today's digital age, where constant notifications and social media can distract from the core mission of discipleship. He encourages listeners to reflect on their own practices and the health of their church communities, urging them to prioritize worship that forms rather than merely inspires. The episode concludes with a call to lead humbly, plant carefully, and keep Jesus at the forefront of ministry efforts, ensuring that the church remains a true reflection of Christ's teachings.Takeaways'The most dangerous churches are not the ones that fail.''Worship does not exist to inspire you. It exists to reorder you.''If the church can't function without you, that is not a compliment.''You cannot rest without checking numbers.''Saying no is a form of faithfulness.'Key Resources from this epsiode.• Eugene PetersonPeterson gives language for longevity over visibility. He names the danger of speed, success, and celebrity in ministry long before social media existed. He reinforces your central warning without sounding reactive.Books to reference (essential)• A Long Obedience in the Same DirectionThis book is a direct antidote to personality-driven planting. It frames discipleship as faithfulness over time, not momentary impact. It fits perfectly with your theme of resisting urgency and re-centering on Christ.• Shawna Songer GainesPrimary voice for the episode's theological frame. Her line—“What is essential is never demanding”—is the backbone. She supplies the foreground vs background image, the Jordan River moment, and Christ-centered worship as re-centering.• Jay Y. This episode is the final stop in our self-worth series, and honestly, it felt right to end it this way.Over the past few weeks, we've talked about why your worth can't survive if it's tied to things that change. In this episode, I share three very real, everyday tools that have helped me stay grounded in my identity. We talk about:Why the books you read matter more than you think when you're unlearning shaky ideas about yourselfHow finding the right community can either reinforce your worth or quietly erode itAnd the importance of challenging negative thoughts instead of letting them run your life uncheckedI also recommend a few books during the episode, and I've listed them below if you'd like to explore them at your own pace.Thank you for staying with me through this series. I hope it's met you gently, and helped you anchor your worth somewhere steady.
Sarah and I are back after our hiatus to discuss your ex's cringey selfies. The fish. The dick pics. The ones where you're cropped out. If you ever stumbled upon an entire audiovisual library of your cheater's dating profiles and it's scarred in your memory, this episode is for you.

Disclaimer: We are not professionals. This podcast is opinioned based and from life experience. This is for entertainment purposes only. Opinions helped by our guests may not reflect our own. But we love a good conversation. In this episode we read a raw, vulnerable email from a long-time community member whose 14 year marriage has been rocked by emotional cheating, digital infidelity and self-sabotage on both sides. We break down her story of online flirting, texting clients, TikTok DMs, sending “innocent” selfies to other men, performance issues in the bedroom, hormone struggles, deep insecurity, mom burnout, and a husband who now considers them separated. You'll hear us call out rationalizations like “it was just a selfie,” “nothing sexual,” “we were separated in my head,” and “I don't know why I did it,” and dig into the truth about attention-seeking online, fantasy relationships, and how selfies, DMs, and secret conversations become emotional affairs that destroy trust, respect, and intimacy. We walk you through what accountability actually looks like after betrayal, how to stop blame shifting to “internal demons” and past trauma, how to apologize without justifying, and how to rebuild or walk away when digital cheating and emotional affairs have already crossed the line. We talk monogamy, open-phone policies, boundaries with the opposite sex, no-private-DM rules, parasocial relationships, stay-at-home mom resentment, the self-imposed prison of housework, and why your marriage will always mirror the effort you give it. If you're dealing with emotional cheating, online flirting, TikTok and Instagram DMs, low self-worth, or a partner who says you're “separated,” this marriage advice conversation will give you brutal honesty, practical language, and a clear standard for what real change and healing in a relationship actually require.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/2-be-better--5828421/support.

Could It Be Magic, the FA Cup podcast sponsored by Carling, is back with another episode as Joe Cole and Ashley Cole welcome Lionesses legend Toni Duggan into the studio. They revisit Toni's two FA Cup triumphs with Everton and Man City, including the reaction she got from her teammates when she took to the pitch wearing fake eyelashes in 2010, and her memories of being controversially dropped for the 2017 final. They discuss Toni's time in Spain playing for Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, including her striking up an unlikely friendship with Lionel Messi, and some unintentionally hilarious struggles with speaking Spanish. Toni also opens up about the experience of having a baby while still playing for Everton, the support she got from the male players, and her journey back to playing just a few months after giving birth to her daughter. We also hear about Toni's experience playing at Soccer Aid last year where she scored past Edwin van de Sar and became best mates with Jermain Defoe and Tom Grennan, and how the experience has given Toni a taste for potentially stepping out of retirement. Ashley Cole reveals how he discovered his passion for coaching, Joe has tales from the set of Sunday Brunch, and all three of them take part in our version of a traditional pub quiz, which goes right down to the wire.
Selfies are more than fleeting images—across India, they shape how people imagine themselves, connect with others, and inhabit spaces. In this episode of the Nordic Asia Podcast, Prof. Xenia Zeiler from the University of Helsinki talks to Prof. Avishek Ray about his co-authored book Digital Expressions of the Self(ie): The Social Life of Selfies in India. This book explores how the digital selfie, unlike traditional photography, turns the lens inward while reconfiguring social identities, gender norms, power relations, and everyday interactions. Drawing on rich, situated examples, it shows how selfies operate as acts of self-making and place-making in contemporary India. At once playful and political, intimate and public, selfies offer a fascinating entry point into the fast-changing cultures of digital media and visual expression. Avishek Ray is Associate Professor of Cultural Studies at the National Institute of Technology Silchar, India. His research spans mobility, marginality, and digital culture, with a focus on South Asia. He is the author of The Vagabond in the South Asian Imagination (Routledge, 2022) and co-author of Digital Expressions of the Self(ie): The Social Life of Selfies in India (Routledge, 2024). A Fulbright-Nehru Fellow (2021), he has held visiting fellowships at institutions across Europe, North America, and Asia. Xenia Zeiler is Professor of South Asian Studies at the University of Helsinki. Her research and teaching are situated at the intersection of digital media, culture, and society, specifically as related to India and global Indian communities. Her focus within this wider field of digital culture is video games and gaming research, in India and beyond. Big Breakdown - A New Look At Kohberger's Selfies & Home In this Big Breakdown, Tony Brueski takes you inside the chilling details of the newly released photos from Bryan Kohberger's personal life — the selfies, the snapshots, and the eerie images from inside his home and office. These visuals, pulled from official sources, are more than just random pictures: they provide a disturbing window into the private world of the man accused of murdering four University of Idaho students. We explore how investigators catalogued and analyzed these images, what they reveal about Kohberger's personality and obsessions, and how they fit into the larger case against him. From his carefully curated online presence to the stark, unsettling emptiness of his living spaces, each photo adds another layer to understanding who Bryan Kohberger was before the night of the killings. Are these pictures simply benign glimpses of everyday life, or do they expose something deeper, more sinister about his psychology? In this episode, we break down what the selfies and surroundings suggest — and why prosecutors may use them to strengthen their narrative at trial. Bryan Kohberger's Disturbing Selfies + The Tragic Case of Baby Emmanuel Haro | Hidden Killers Live In this Hidden Killers Live 2-hour special, Tony Brueski, Stacy Cole, and Todd Michaels dive into two of the most disturbing true crime stories dominating headlines today: the latest revelations about Bryan Kohberger and the tragic death of baby Emmanuel Haro. The first half of the show zeroes in on Kohberger, the man accused of murdering four University of Idaho students. Newly released photos from his phone reveal a disturbing obsession with himself: endless bathroom selfies, awkward poses, emaciated body shots, and cryptic handwritten notes with dates and codes. The team reacts in real time — dissecting what these images say about Kohberger's narcissism, his need for control, and his possible fixation with numerology. They also explore new reports of Kohberger stalking women at Washington State University — tapping on windows, lurking outside homes, and driving away in his infamous white Elantra. The panel doesn't hold back: they debate predator culture, women's self-defense, how society minimizes red flags until it's too late, and why some people online are still bizarrely defending Kohberger. Retired FBI Special Agent Jennifer Coffindaffer then joins to break down photos from Kohberger's apartment and office, exposing chilling details like stripped walls, blood traces, cleaning supplies, and bear spray — all pointing to a man meticulously trying to erase evidence while hiding his darkest secrets. In the second half, the show shifts to the devastating case of 7-month-old Emmanuel Haro, allegedly killed by his father Jake — a man who had already been convicted of nearly killing another infant yet was allowed to walk free on probation. Psychotherapist Shavaun Scott joins to analyze how America's child protection system repeatedly fails. The discussion unpacks everything from unqualified judges and underfunded CPS agencies, to the dangerous myth of “positive thinking” and assuming abusive parents can magically reform. The team digs into trauma bonds, why partners like Rebecca Haro stand by violent abusers, and how “low risk” labels and compliance checklists allow predators to slip through. Shavaun shares a haunting story from her own career — a child she warned was unsafe who was later killed after the court ignored expert testimony. This raw, unfiltered 2-hour show is part true crime breakdown, part systemic critique, and part call to action. It exposes not only the disturbing psychology of killers like Kohberger and Haro, but also the structural failures that keep enabling them. Bryan Kohberger's Creepiest Selfies: What They Reveal About His Narcissism In this episode of Hidden Killers Live, Tony Brueski, Stacy Cole, and Todd Michaels take a deep dive into one of the most unsettling pieces of evidence to come out of the Bryan Kohberger case — his massive collection of bizarre selfies. These aren't casual snapshots. They're obsessive, awkward, often disturbing bathroom mirror shots that reveal a man far more obsessed with his image than anyone previously imagined. The panel reacts to Kohberger's poses, his earbuds, his emaciated body, the infamous “Levi's with no ass” photos, and his unsettling attempts at smiles and stares. Is this simple vanity? Or is it something darker — narcissism bleeding into pathology? As Tony, Stacy, and Todd riff on the strange details, they point out how these photos may reflect Kohberger's need for validation, his disconnect from reality, and his growing obsession with himself during the same period he was allegedly planning and carrying out horrific crimes. What's revealed here is not just creepy — it's potentially critical to understanding his mindset. This segment mixes sharp banter with chilling analysis — a perfect entry point into the disturbing world of Kohberger's phone. HT2363 - Niagara Falls, Land of Selfies The waterfalls were impressive, but from what I could see, most of the people were even more impressed by, well, themselves. I saw very few people taking pictures of this nature's wonder, but almost everyone was taking selfies. Is this a cultural phenomenon? A psychological phenomenon? Or, a technological one? FBI Analysis: The Dark Meaning Behind Bryan Kohberger's Sadistic Selfies When investigators dug into Bryan Kohberger's phone, they expected evidence. What they found instead was a strange and haunting window into his psyche: a private archive of shirtless selfies, mirror shots, and images that felt less like social media fodder and more like a shrine to himself. FBI experts compared the collection to Patrick Bateman in American Psycho, a character obsessed with his own reflection and detached from reality. On the surface, selfies aren't unusual. Generations live their lives in front of phone cameras. But in Kohberger's case, the timing and secrecy turn ordinary vanity into something darker. He wasn't posting them. He wasn't sharing them. He was documenting himself for himself — hours after phone calls with his mother, hours after circling the crime scene. Retired FBI Special Agent Jennifer Coffindaffer joins to break down what these images really mean. Were they simple vanity shots? Or were they part of a ritual — trophies preserved as reminders of what he had done? We discuss how these photos may have served as psychological bookmarks, snapshots of control in a life where he had none. Combined with the preserved images of unconscious women also found on his phone, the selfies paint a disturbing picture of ritual, narcissism, and pathology. It wasn't about looking good for others. It was about capturing control in moments only he would see. This episode digs into how something as ordinary as a mirror selfie becomes evidence of something much darker when taken in context.
