Special thanks to @The.Archivist. for the cover art. Here is my unofficial and unabridged audiobook of A Certain Point of View by Charlene Newcomb. Powered by Artificial Intelligence. "A Certain Point of View" is a short story written by Charlene Newcomb (with illustrations by Mike Vilardi and Daniel Horne) that was originally published in Star Wars Adventure Journal 8 by West End Games in November 1995. It was later reprinted in the short-story anthology Tales from the Empire, which was published by Bantam Spectra in November 1997, and was also made available online at Hyperspace on April 28, 2006. It takes place immediately after the Destruction of Alderaan in 0 BBY. Tales from the Empire is an anthology about the Galactic Empire; the short stories were selected from the Star Wars Adventure Journal. It begins with an introduction titled "A Galaxy Filled with Stories" by Peter M. Schweighofer. I have a passion for Star Wars Audiobooks. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/decadebird/support

What have we learned? How has our take on the PEL project changed? On the eve before our big ep. 100 live show, we sat down to reflect on what we've been doing here. With guest Daniel Horne.
Do you know who loves the classic Universal monster movies (aside from Derek)? Artist, sculptor, and easily one of the nicest guys you'll meet at a monster convention Daniel Horne. When he's not creating one of his beautiful monster portraits or sculpting a gorgeous monster mask, Daniel watches these movies on a screen he's set up on one wall of his studio. In fact, he told Derek off mic that he actually had The Ghost of Frankenstein playing in the background while they talked about this film, their mutual appreciation for all the skilled men and women who worked to create these movies, and the fairy tale quality of all the classic Universal monster films. Frankenstein's monster is an iconic image when it comes to classic monster movies, but is he outshined by Ygor (played masterfully by Béla Lugosi) in The Ghost of Frankenstein (dir. Erle C. Kenton)? Before you answer that question, listen to what Derek and this week's guest - Daniel Horne - has to say about the film! Daniel is an award-winning artist and sculptor, has appeared in the documentary The Aurora Monsters: The Model Craze That Gripped the World (dir. Cortlandt Hull, Dennis Vincent), and appears on Monster Kid Radio to talk about one of his favorite Frankenstein films. In Part One of their discussion, Derek and Daniel talk about the film's background, the cast and crew, and get into The Ghost...'s story. The defendant, Daniel Horne, was convicted by a Superior Court jury of second-degree murder, possession of ammunition without proper firearm identification (“FID”), and two separate counts of unlicensed carrying of a rifle in an unpermitted area. The defendant appealed, arguing for reversal of his convictions due to the numerous errors that occurred at trial. The Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts (“SJC”) vacated and set aside the conviction of second-degree murder, but affirmed the other convictions.
On Buber's 1923 book about the fundamental human position: As children, and historically, we start fully absorbed in relation with another person (like mom). Before that, we have no self-consciousness, no "self" at all. It's only by having these consuming "encounters" that we gradually distinguish ourselves from other people, and can then engage in what we'd normally consider "experience," which Buber calls "the I-It relation." Buber thinks that unless we can keep connected to this "I-Thou" phenomenon, through mature relationships, art, and nature. With guest Daniel Horne.
