The Yellow Clearance Black Box Blues is a 48-page adventure for the Paranoia RPG. It was written by John M. Ford, published by West End Games in 1985, and is generally regarded as one of the classic adventures for the game, and a milestone in the development of comedy in RPGs. It was re-released in 2017 for the rebooted edition of Paranoia that was co-designed by James Wallis, Grant Howitt and Paul Dean, and I swear that's the first I've ever heard of that version, though it seems to be the only form in which TYCBBB is commercially available right now. $29.99 for a 48-page PDF from 1985. Fresh from playing the Paranoia Mandatory Bonus Fun Card Game, Dan and Paul discuss their experience with various editions of the Paranoia RPG. Stay alert, trust no one, and keep your laser handy! Paranoia is a humorous role-playing game set in a dystopian future along the lines of Nineteen Eighty-Four, Brave New World, Logan's Run, and THX 1138; however, the tone of the game is rife with black humor, frequently tongue-in-cheek rather than dark and heavy. Most of the game's humor is derived from the players' (usually futile) attempts to complete their assignment while simultaneously adhering to the Computer's arbitrary, contradictory and often nonsensical security directives. Originally designed and written by Greg Costikyan, Dan Gelber, and Eric Goldberg, and first published in 1984 by West End Games, since 2004 Paranoia has been published under license by Mongoose Publishing. The game won the Origins Award for Best Roleplaying Rules of 1984 and was inducted into the Origins Awards Hall of Fame in 2007. Paranoia is notable among tabletop games for being more competitive than co-operative, with players encouraged to betray one another for their own interests, as well as for keeping a light-hearted, tongue in cheek tone despite its dystopian setting. Happy New Year! As 2022 ends Saul and Jolene decided to do an episode of Top Ten RPGs they want to play in 2023. Saul cheated on number 10 and threw in a quick list of 8 games that he wants to get to the table in 2023. The list is not top ten of new RPGs just RPGs that have been in Saul's library for a while and have not seen any or enough action at the RPG table. This list come mainly from Saul but Jolene added one or two to the list. Some on this list is just published as in Blade Runner RPG or older like Star Wars D6 by West End Games. Once again Happy New Year's to all that listen to our podcast and your families, thanks for Listening to our humble Podcast. Show NotesTo tide us over til our next one-shot, here's a bonus episode where our host and GM Fiona interviews award-winning game writer & author Andrew E.C. Gaska! With over 2 decades of experience in the comics and video games industries, it is safe to say that Drew has a long list of credits to his name! His freelance franchise consulting work for 20th Century Fox has seen him write numerous series reference bibles, streamline in-universe canon and create detailed timelines for legacy franchises such as Alien, Predator, and Planet of the Apes. Drew's tabletop game work includes the critically acclaimed ALIEN roleplaying game, The Terminator RPG, and Carbon Grey RPG. Most recently, it was announced that along with a new rerelease of his graphic novel ‘Critical Millennium: The Dark Frontier Blackstar Edition', Drew is also working on an RPG for Critical Millennium, a system that would use the official Magnetic Variant (D6MV) of the classic D6 game rules originally created by West End Games.TimestampsIntro: 00:00:10Q&A start: 00:01:30Outro: 00:40:20Drew's workDrew's blogDrew's Twitter (@andrewecgaska)ALIEN RPG on Free LeagueThe Terminator RPG by Nightfall Games on DriveThruRPGCarbon Grey RPG by Magnetic Press Play on DriveThruRPGCritical Millenium RPG Corebook Preorder on Barnes & NobleCreditsThe 'What Am I Rolling?' podcast was created, recorded, and edited by Fiona Howat. The WAIR logo was created by Fiona Howat.Q&A guest was Andrew E.C. SWodu is a PbtA hack that Greg and I have been working on together. The design goal is to have a flyweight system that could story game up some classic Star Wars modules. This bimonthly series will put the system through its paces. I plan on running a few different West End Games d6 modules as well as some stuff from the Saga system and Edge of the Empire (i.e. officially licensed modules), stripping out the cool bits and presenting it for SWodu play. It's gonna be a blast!

So, we had to class up the joint on this one; Mr. Bill "Named that Funky Star Wars Alien" Slavicsek stops by to hang and talk about his very early work, "Scared Stiffs" for the Ghostbusters RPG from West End Games. This was too much fun! Edwin Nagy of Frog God Games and Bill Barsh of Pacesetter Games were good enough to rejoin the cast and hold my had so I didn't turn too "fanboy" on Mr. Slavicsek -though I will admit having to edit out an ending where I stuttered through his name 5 times like Sylvester the cat... Personal highlight of my gaming life, right here dungeoneers!
Episode Notes Hello there! Welcome back. This episode, we quit while we were ahead and moved on from X-Wing! We might read more someday but I'm gonna be honest the podcast was dying. I also had to take a break from it for work reasons which have not gotten much better! But I digress. War! The Imperial remnant and the New Republic squabble for resources and territory, but the ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of...sci-fi race science. We go on the first new adventure starring our main three heroes since Return of the Jedi and learn all about how the West End Games tabletop RPG shaped the future of Star Wars. This episode's wingmates are Dianoga 3, AKA Jackson, and Dianoga 4, AKA Autumn! You can follow Jackson on twitter at @headfallsoff and Autumn at @Autumnal_Coffee. The War In Our Stars is a Star Wars Expanded Universe podcast from Export Audio! Every 3 weeks or so, Nora and a co-pilot will sit down and chat about a different Star Wars Expanded Universe book. Part book club, part in-depth criticism, this is a place to really drill into what Star Wars used to be before the buyout.
