Kinsella on Liberty Podcast: Episode 491. https://youtu.be/lfjpoKCWBDA I've known Paul Cwik, Professor of Economics and Finance at the University of Mount Olive and fellow of the Mises Institute since I started attending the Austrian Scholars Conference in 1995. He is an Austrian and libertarian of sorts but had some qualms with my anti-IP writing so presented a paper "Is There Room for Intellectual Property Rights in Austrian Economics?" at the Austrian Scholars Conference in 2008, which I attended and commented on. After 18 years we finally decided to get around to talking about this. I had planned on an hour but we ended up talking for 3. It turns out we were old friends but not that close; we didn't know much about each other. So the first 30-50 minutes or so is more preliminary discussion. To his credit, he read a good deal of the huge deluge of material I sent to read up on and asked many very good questions. He did not engage in intentional equivocation that is characteristic of many on the pro-IP side, and he was reasonable in conceding many of my points and was willing to ponder my push back. I was hoping to get him to see the light, since I have in person seen many people change their minds on IP after a long discussion but have never had it happen while recording. We did not resolve the issue, partly because we just didn't have enough time to keep going, but I think we made some progress. Maybe we will have a Part 2 later. Who knows. Why taste, touch, composition, and wisdom may become the most valuable leadership skills in the age of AI. Summary  In this episode of The Customer Service Revolution Podcast, John DiJulius interviews bestselling author Daniel Pink about the human skills that artificial intelligence cannot replace. Takeaways AI can generate options, but humans need taste. Daniel Pink argues that people build judgment by making things, testing ideas, receiving feedback, and learning what works. "Good enough" is a dangerous standard. AI can make average work easier. The competitive advantage belongs to people and companies who keep refining beyond good enough. Touch matters more in a digital world. Physical presence, empathy, listening, comfort, and connection become more valuable as technology handles more transactional tasks. Leaders must become composers. Future leaders will need to combine human talent, machine intelligence, and resources into something greater than the pieces alone. Wisdom is different from intelligence. Wisdom includes humility, integrity, compassion, curiosity, and the ability to ask better questions. Great questions create credibility. John and Daniel agree that credibility does not come only from having answers. It often comes from asking questions no one else has asked. AI should not replace the learning process. When people use AI to skip the first draft, the hard thinking disappears. That creates what Daniel calls the risk of "intellectual obesity." Service aptitude skills are still critical. Empathy, curiosity, connection, listening, problem-solving, and energy remain essential for customer-facing teams. AI will reconfigure jobs, not simply erase them overnight. Daniel pushes back on doom-and-gloom thinking and encourages leaders to help people identify what they can do with machines that neither humans nor machines can do alone. The Latter-day Saint tradition features a prodigious number of eloquent speakers and famous speeches — from Brigham Young's sermons to Mitt Romney's "Faith in America" address. But how does this tradition, especially with its lack of formal homiletical training, boast such a rich, deeply ingrained, and democratic culture of public address?On today's episode of Scholars & Saints, host Nicholas Shrum probes these questions with Professor Richard Benjamin Crosby and PhD Student Isaac James Richards, editors of Latter-Day Eloquence: Two Centuries of Mormon Oratory (University of Illinois Press, 2026). Crosby and Richards discuss the oratorical culture in which Latter-day Saints are raised, as well as the different rhetorical topics commonly employed in public addresses, such as rhetorics of exaltation, Zion, and peculiarity. They also examine the adaptation of Mormon rhetoric and public image in response to cultural assimilation, as well as the impacts of the digital age on Latter-day Saint oratory and communication.Richard Benjamin Crosby is Associate Professor of English at Brigham Young University, where he studies and teaches rhetorical theory and practice, with an interest in political and religious communication.Isaac James Richards is a PhD Student in Communication Arts and Sciences at the Pennsylvania State University.
