La trama está protagonizada por una pareja de recién casados, el policía mexicano Mike Vargas (Charlton Heston) y su mujer estadounidense Susan Vargas (Janet Leigh). Interrumpen su viaje de luna de miel al presenciar como explota el coche de un narcotraficante en la frontera. Vargas acaba trabajando en la investigación junto a Hank Quinlan (Orson Welles), un jefe del policía estadounidense corrupto que no duda en fabricar pruebas falsas para acusar a un joven que él cree culpable de colocar la bomba. Vargas sabe que las pruebas no son reales e inicia sus propias pesquisas. Descubre que Quinlan y unos mafiosos fronterizos están directamente relacionados con el asesinato. Recuperamos Películas Malas que Molan, el spin-off de La Guarida del Sith donde las películas que deberían hacernos mirar hacia otro lado acaban convirtiéndose en auténticas joyas del cachondeo. Y para volver por todo lo alto nos metemos de lleno en una galaxia muy, muy lejana… aunque quizá no demasiado lejos del vertedero cinematográfico. En esta ocasión ponemos bajo el microscopio a Star Wars y el universo de los Ewoks, con parada obligatoria en Caravana del Valor: Una aventura Ewok, porque si George Lucas decidió que después de luchar contra el Imperio necesitábamos seguir las aventuras de unos ositos del bosque, nosotros no vamos a ser quienes le llevemos la contraria. Pero la cosa no se queda ahí. También recuperamos otras criaturas y engendros de esta particular galaxia de películas imposibles, incluyendo El cuchitril de Joe y Aztec Rex, porque aparentemente alguien pensó que esto era una buena idea y ahora nos toca averiguar por qué. Para semejante expedición contamos con Sauron, David, Héctor y el Mamado Lidel, dispuestos a sacar el sable láser, la mala leche y todo el arsenal de comentarios necesarios para determinar una cuestión fundamental: ¿son realmente películas malas… o son películas que molan precisamente porque son así? Una nueva entrega de Películas Malas que Molan, el spin-off que vuelve a La Guarida del Sith para demostrar que algunas películas no necesitan ser buenas para convertirse en imprescindibles. Y que los Ewoks, contra todo pronóstico, todavía tienen mucho que decir.

The best storytelling starts with understanding yourself Every story passes through your personal "filter" of experiences, beliefs and biases. Effective storytellers keep doing inner work: understanding who they are, what they value, and how that shapes the way they see and retell stories. Listening and asking are more important than talking Kely emphasises active listening: asking questions, letting people finish, and then clarifying instead of assuming. Great storytelling often comes from hearing what people struggle to say and helping them express it—without putting your own meaning on top. Who tells the story matters as much as the story itself There's a big difference between: A group of powerful people telling women's or marginalised communities' stories for them, versus Creating space, resources, and platforms for those communities to tell their own stories. Brands, federations, and media need to move from "consulting women" to letting women lead narrative creation. Context and culture are non‑negotiable in social impact Real impact requires understanding what people actually want in their own context. The Zanzibar example shows this: changing school schedules, working with imams, and respecting religious and cultural norms did more for girls' sport than any top‑down "liberation" message could. Feminism is about choice, not one 'correct' path Whether it's wearing a hijab, changing your surname, or how you present your identity, Kely stresses that feminism means women deciding for themselves—not swapping one set of prescriptions (patriarchal) for another (a narrow version of "modern freedom"). Joy is fuel for sustainable storytelling work Kely separates joy from constant happiness. Joy is the deep sense of meaning you get from the work, even when parts of it are hard (like editing, travel, or friction with institutions). This week on Forgotten Cinema, the Mikes take a look at "Victory", or "Escape to Victory", as the film has somehow come to be known.Both Mike Butler and Mike Field enjoy the movie, but neither thinks it entirely works. One of the biggest surprises on this revisit is just how central Sylvester Stallone's character is to the story. Both Mikes remembered him as more of a supporting player, but instead his character becomes the film's primary focus, despite being one of its least likable figures.For both Butler and Field, Michael Caine's character feels like the far more natural protagonist. His role within the team, his relationships with the other prisoners, and his involvement in the match give the film a stronger emotional center than Stallone's escape-focused storyline.The film also struggles to generate much real danger. Its POW camp often feels less like a prison and more like a strangely relaxed summer camp for captured soldiers, while the so-called Bureau of Escape is almost comically organized. Many members of the soccer team are played by actual footballers rather than actors, which makes the final match more authentic but also leaves much of the team underdeveloped as characters. Combined with German soldiers who rarely feel especially threatening, the movie never builds the level of tension its premise seems to promise.Still, "Victory" remains an entertaining watch. The final match delivers some genuinely impressive soccer, including more from Stallone than either Mike expected, while Pelé naturally steals the show once the players take the field.The Mikes also dig into the strange production history surrounding the film, including the director's dislike of the finished movie and stories about Stallone being less than popular with the cast while juggling filming with work on "Rocky III" and spending his downtime traveling around Europe.Messy, oddly low-stakes, and built around the wrong central character, "Victory" is far from perfect. Recientemente, la plataforma de streaming Prime Video recuperó el espíritu de la franquicia con nuevas versiones dirigidas por cineastas contemporáneos de la talla de Rodrigo Sorogoyen o Rodrigo Cortés. A continuación, los críticos de esRadio destacan The Terror, una serie de antología que cuenta con tres temporadas disponibles en Prime Video y Netflix. Sin embargo, ponen especial énfasis en la soberbia primera temporada, basada en la novela homónima de Dan Simmons. La historia se centra en dos amigos inseparables de un entorno rural; tras perderse en las montañas, uno de ellos regresa poseído por una extraña entidad. Lo original de la propuesta es que su compañero decide mantener la amistad a pesar de saber que ya no es un ser humano. Con una atmósfera muy sensorial cargada de silencios, el cantar de las cigarras y un toque de romance juvenil, esta serie ofrece una experiencia de terror psicológico sumamente inquietante y conmovedora.

On "Realistic Monism: Why Physicalism Entails Panpsychism" (2008). Strawson argues that physicalism should not just be taken as matter in motion. Instead, the physical is a broader category that includes not just chairs and molecules, but also "my experience of red." Yet he's not trying to say that experiences are just brain states; they clearly include qualia (what it's like to experience red). And he's also not just trying to solve the problem by redefining "physical" to include "mental" (though he is doing that). Instead, he's claiming that we have no warrant to claim that the properties of the physical are exhausted by what third-person science can investigate, and that we can't solve the mind-body problem unless we posit that (at least some) physical objects have a mental aspect.
