This set comes from a livestream for The Slow Kids At Play. We kicked off our new Slow Saturdaze series with co-founder Matt Diamante, Rob Dowell & myself. For this one, I start with some dark dubstep and drum and bass, then into some dark breaks before jumping into a minimal / tech house vibe for a while. I ride that vibe, then close out the last hour or so with some more dark breaks and electro. It was a ton of fun to have the freedom to explore. Maybe a bit nerve-wracking at first, since I'm not super confident playing dubstep, but I think it worked out okay. You have a listen and be sure to let me know. Coming out of the South East of England is Kents very own J:Kenzo J has been dj'ing since 1995, and originally started playing Jungle and House & Garage, from were he draws alot of his influences from production wise. J started producing in August 2006, and has recently started two record labels representing the two different ends of the dubstep scene... 'Soul Shakerz' and 'Dub Constructionz'. 'Soul Shakerz' is just about to drop its 4th release within the next month and has a list of artists lined up for 2009. Production wise J has seen has his 1st release this year digitally through 'SonicBoomUK' and his 1st vinyl release on his own label 'Soul Shakerz' 2009 promises to be a year of progression for J with releases lined up for Deapoh's 'Bare Dubs' imprint, '2nd Drop Records', as well as more material on 'Soul Shakerz' and 'Dub Constructionz' plus the work on remixes for various established artists in the dubstep scene.
