Always eclectic, his selections joining the dots between styles and eras with skill and respect – never losing focus on the dancers. His latest release is no different. A djembe led future soul burner blessed by the legendary London vocalist Colonel Red's scorching voice. Sounding like a 90's R&B jam thrown into the future before morphing into a 3am dancefloor blazer - definitely one for all the freaks out there. The remix package is a massive shout to Edseven's varied tastes and influences, enlisting a murderers' row of friends and overseas contacts to reinterpret the original. Japan's Grooveman Spot providing a heavy heavy classic Jazzy Sport beatdown version whilst Canadian due Potatohead People flip it into a dripping 80's Boogie track. Local don's Inkswel and Setwun take their version even further from the original… Inkswel's broken space mix upping the tempo and pulling in Bruk / West London vibes and Setwun's refreak an acid tinged, ever-evolving broken beat piece.' As broadcast November 17, 2022 with plenty of Ruffin' about. Tonight we mark the passing of a man who was instrumental to the early Motown Sound and therefore the entirety of what was to come in funk and soul, Jimmy Ruffin. Unfortunately, the elder brother of David passed away on this date, so we wanted to show some love for a guy who never seemed to get his full due to start the show. Lots of the aforementioned "what was to come" for this week in the rest of hour one, with a feature of Lady Blackbird, Vendredi sur Mer, SAULT, Robert Glasper, and our dear friend Kamen Ross who finishes the hour super strong and live way up in the Rockies! Dan Lloyd once again ghosts into the studio while knocking stuff around for our AMPED feature, with a highlight on some deserving Grammy nods in the rock category in part 4, along with some amazing new stuff just out for the remainder, with our KROCKPOT feature giving a nod to one of Korea's hardest working bands Walking After U to close the radio process tonight.#feelthegravityTracklist (st:rt)Part I (00:00)Jimmy Ruffin – What Becomes of the Broken HeartedLee Fields – I Should Have Let You BeBobby Oroza with Cold Diamond & Mink – The Otherside (inst)Lady Blackbird – Feel It Comin' (single vers)Vendredi sur Mer – Tout m'ennuieChannel Tres – 6am Part II (30:03)SAULT – God's WillJuan Gabriel & George Benson – Luna Tres LunaThe Teskey Brothers – This Will Be Our YearLM.ORG feat Alice Russell – Playground GamesRobert Glasper feat Hindi Zahra – FeverKamen Ross – Yellow Rose (Live at Rocky Mountain National Park) Part III (59:45)Fake Names – Delete MyselfSmashing Pumpkins – Beyond the ValeShame – Fingers of SteelSharon van Etten – When I DieR. Welcome to my annual 'Best of' podcast. As the Covid-19 pandemic eases here in Ontario, life is almost back to normal. For those of us who are double-vaxxed, everything is open to us, but many others stubbornly refuse to get the jab, which means the disease retains a foothold in many cities worldwide. And now that clubs and restaurants here are open to 100% capacity, DJs are returning back to work and producers are creating quality grooves.Toronto's Sarah Daye (who now lives in LA) begins this year's set with a sultry lounge groove that's sure to impress. Some of my other favourite tunes this year include gorgeous remixes, covers and original flavours from 4hero, Pamplemousse Rose, Michael Boothman, Dua Lipa and more.I dedicate this mix to a dear friend who's currently in a Toronto hospital, fighting for his life as he recovers from a seizure & stroke suffered earlier this month. Hang in their buddy - we're all praying for your speedy and complete recovery. As always, download, stream and share.1. For Love (Carnell Harrell remix) - Sarah Daye feat. Richie Hennessey2. As broadcast August 20, 2021 with a record amount of legroom for podcast flyers. Tonight we welcomed a fantastic horn player from Tel Aviv to take over the playlist in our 2nd hour tonight. Sefi Zisling is a veteran jazz & funk artist out of Israel's largest city who has been a long-time fixture of the vibrant scene there. He played a list of favorites for the playlist while talking about remaking Alice Russell's "Heartbreaker," along with what it's like to work in the studio with his wife and rather famous sister, and the background of the tunes he loves. A great conversation with an outstanding artist with some choice selects. As broadcast July 15, 2021 with bonus bolts & beans to throw at the fascist brigades. We start the show wishing Woody Guthrie a happy birthday (although a day belated), and talk about the horror show of the racist abuse hurled at the young, gifted, & black trio from the England football squad that lost in the Euro final on Sunday. After that, lots & lots of new music to go through with Snoh Aalegra dropping an album last Friday along with a new collab single from Lucky Daye & Adekunle Gold, along with others from Rudy De Anda & Quantic amongst others. For our 2nd hour, we talk the England debacle with Dan Lloyd a bit more and go through new cuts from OFF!, Sam Fender, and some disco band called The Dee Gees. Great new biz all around, lots of surprises, but there is one thing that will not surprise anybody except themselves: The fascists will always lose.#feelthegravityTracklisting:Part I (00:00)Resistance Revival Chorus – All You Fascists Bound To LoseSnoh Aalegra feat Tyler, The Creator – NEON PEACHAdeline feat Joshua J – EternityAlice Russell – Heartbreaker (Sefi Zisling Remake)Patrice Rushen – Number One (12” vers) Part II (32:30)Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings – Get Up and Get Out (Live)Johnny Burgos feat Kendra Morris – The Grey (J Page remix)Quantic feat Nadia Gongora – Balada BorrachaAdekunle Gold feat Lucky Daye – SinnerFalle Nioke feat Ghost Culture – LeywoleBastards of Soul – While It's HotRudy De Anda feat BARDO – Couldn't Seal The Deal Part III (62:43)Face to Face – No Way Out But ThroughBilly Bragg, Wilco – All You FascistsThe Specials – B.L.M.Sam Fender – Seventeen Going UnderWillow – Lipstick Part IV (94:10)The Dee Gees – You Should Be DancingOFF! – Holier Than ThouCourtney Barnett – Rae StreetBarenaked Ladies – New DisasterWavves – Caviar
