Subconscious Realms Episode 277 - Pre-American History PT2 - Moors People - Doc Roberts. Ladies & Gentlemen, on this Episode of Subconscious Realms we welcome back one of our Extraordinary returning Guest's, Doc Roberts to discuss the Moors People. Doc comes in Heavy absolute Mind-Blowing Episode
I welcome Jean-Luc Sergent, a personal friend and Anglican priest with a heart for ministry in France, to share his journey of faith, unity, and hope in a secularized society. Jean-Luc shares insights on the cultural and religious landscapes of France in the last generation or so, emphasizing the importance of unity among Christians and the need for faith, love, and hope amidst challenges. I invited Jean-Luc to specifically highlight a series of songs sourced from the original song "The Blessing," which emerged during the COVID-19 pandemic as a unifying force among Christians. The release of a new song in French, based on the ancient hymn "Veni Creator Spiritus", underscores the capacity of music to unite believers across cultural and linguistic boundaries, reflecting the universal impact of faith and worship. This is all happening this spring and summer, under the exciting news of the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris. As an Anglican priest with a ministry rooted in both France and England, Jean-Luc Sergent brings a unique perspective to the challenges and opportunities in cross-cultural ministry. His journey from Paris to London, the influence of his wife's Catholic background on their faith, and his call to ministry at 35 reflect the interwoven experiences that have shaped his understanding of ministry amidst cultural diversity. We discuss the importance of ecumenical unity between Protestants and Catholics in France as an essential step in bridging denominational divides and standing as a testament to the power of love and faith in a diversified faith landscape. This emphasis on cooperation highlights what happens when believers of different traditions come together to share a message of hope and love under the common banner of Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. Jean-Luc provides a glimpse into the cultural and religious dynamics in France, highlighting the declining percentage of practicing Catholics and evangelicals. This shift poses a significant challenge in a secularized society where the Christian faith has faced marginalization. In this context, it is essential to develop a commitment to fostering unity and cooperation in witnessing about the love of God. Here are a few insights of wisdom I will take away from this conversation, and hope to learn to role-model better in the future: - Seek unity in faith, love, and hope, especially in a secularized society. - Embrace ecumenical unity between different Christian denominations for a greater witness of God's love. - Be open to transitions and callings in life that may lead to unexpected ministry opportunities. - Look for ways to create a positive impact in my community. - Welcome the influence of the Holy Spirit and seek to align with biblical and Christian principles. - Find inspiration and comfort in the Spirit of God, especially during challenging times. - Journey in faith, while respecting the history, culture, and language of different Christian traditions. - Ponder the significance of meaningful hymns and songs in providing consolation and blessings to others. - Value collaborative efforts and movements within the church for positive change and revival. What about YOU? What did YOU take away from this conversation? I'd love to hear from you, so email us or DM us on social media! You have no idea how happy this would make me! Originally birthed from the 2020 pandemic lockdowns which popularized remote-ensemble worship music videos, La Bénédiction has continued to build on the spirit of its first project, the French version of “The Blessing”. The ministry has gone on to produce and release a video every year since then, and is producing its fifth in 2024. These exceptional-quality projects are not only a beautiful form of worship, but dismantle denominational barriers in the Christian world through the collaboration of talented singers and musicians from hundreds of churches and organizations. Accordingly, La Bénédiction lives out the calls of scripture to offer a sacrifice of praise to God (Heb 13:15) and to let Christian unity be a testimony to all (John 17:23). La Bénédiction also offers musical, artistic and cultural training to all to develop their skills while promoting Christian values. Finally, the ministry collaborates with other charitable and humanitarian organizations through service and organization of events to live out Christian principles of compassion and love of neighbor. Your generosity will allow La Bénédiction to continue to expand on its mission, letting people meet God deeply through soul-moving music, and equipping His people to work in unity to advance the Gospel more fully. To Thee, the Comforter, we cry, To Thee, the Gift of God Most High, The Fount of life, the Fire of love, The soul's Anointing from above. The sev'n-fold gifts of grace are Thine, O Finger of the Hand Divine; True Promise of the Father Thou, Who dost the tongue with speech endow. Thy light to every thought impart And shed Thy love in every heart; The weakness of our mortal state With deathless might invigorate. Drive far away our wily Foe, And Thine abiding peace bestow; If Thou be our protecting Guide, No evil can our steps betide. Make Thou to us the Father known; Teach us the eternal Son to own And Thee, whose name we ever bless, Of both the Spirit, to confess. Praise we the Father and the Son And Holy Spirit, with them One; And may the Son on us bestow The gifts that from the Spirit flow! Amen. This song is a hymn to the Holy Spirit, composed by Rabanus Maurus in the 8th century. The text expresses gratitude for the Creator's visitation, inspiration, and protection of the soul. About the original author of this hymn (written in Latin): Rabanus Maurus (c. 776-856) or Hrabanus Magnentius Maurus, was born of noble parents at Mainz, and educated at Fulda and Tours under Alcuin, who is reputed to have given him the surname, Maurus, after the saint of that name. In 803, he became director of the school at the Benedictine Abbey at Fulda. He was ordained priest in 814, spending the following years in a pilgrimage to Palestine. In 822, he became Abbott at Fulda, retiring in 842. In 847, he became archbishop of Mainz. He died at Winkel on the Rhine, February 4, 856. This distinguished Carolingian poet-theologian wrote extensive biblical commentaries, the Encyclopaedic De Universo, De Institutione Clericorum, and other works which circulated widely during the Middle Ages. No soy Sheldon Cooper.

Oktober 1998.

Courtney Love: I warned women about Weinstein and got banned from Hollywood agencyThe singer-actress, who says she 'wasn't a victim,' advised women in a 2005 interview 'don't go' if invited to producer's hotel room Over a decade before some of Hollywood's biggest stars came out to accuse disgraced Hollywood film producer Harvey Weinstein of sexual harassment, The People vs. Larry Flint star Courtney Love warned up-and-coming actress of his bad behavior. In an interview from the red carpet of the Comedy's Central's 2005 roast of Pamela Anderson, Love was asked by comedian Natasha Leggero what advice she has for young women trying to make it in Hollywood."Ummm… I'll get libeled if I say it," Love, 53, says at first in a video of the chat unearthed by TMZ.Trust is the glue that binds relationships. Without trust, it's nearly impossible for any relationship to last. These trust quotes show that our whole world is built around our ability to trust others. We all have our own handful of beliefs about trust — especially when it comes to love. We wonder if we should trust someone from the start until they give us a reason not to, or if it's better to hold back until our trust has been earned. It can be hard to choose which way to go. If you hold back trust in a relationship, you send a message that you aren't willing to open up to your partner, but if you give trust blindly without really knowing who a person is first, there's a good chance of getting hurt.☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆https://linktr.ee/jacksonlibon-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------#facebook #instagram #amour #couple #couplegoals #famille #relation #doudou #TotalEnergiesAFCON2022 #TeamTunisia #CAN2021 $BTC $ETH #cryptocurrency #Bitcoin #Ethereum #Avalanche#altcoins #Crypto #NFTs #Avalanche #innovation #CryptocurrencyNews #cashback #YieldFarming#TotalEnergiesAFCON2021 #TeamMali #TUNMLI #teamegypt #afcon2021 #TeamCameroon #youtube #twitter #tiktok #love #reeĺs #shorts #instagood #follow #like #ouy #oyu #babyshark #lilnasx #girl #happybirthday #movie #olive #garden #menu #deviance #autotrader #trading #khan #academy #carter #carguru #ancestry #accords #abc #news #bts #cbs #huru bluebook #socialmedia #whatsapp #music #google #photography #memes #marketing #india #followforfollowback #likeforlikes #a #insta #fashion #k #trending #digitalmarketing #covid #o #snapchat #socialmediamarketing #bhfyp

Did St Philip have any unusual saints as friends? Yes. We will read about what Fr Robinson used to call "closed circuit television" conversations between St Philip and St Catherine de Ricci. We know that they never met in this life; but when she died, St Philip told people all about her. He knew what she looked like. St Philip reminds us of our connection across time and space in the communion of saints, the Church. God has united us to each other as parts of a body are united. Let us not try to live as an island, cut off from each other. Last episode we read about the procession to the Chiesa Nuova with the relics of St Papias and St. Maurus. Lay people, priests, Cardinals, musicians, servers, artists and many others took part. The Church has great need of many different types of people. What draws us together is Christ and the search for holiness. The really great thing in this world is a saint. A saint takes God seriously and himself or herself not that seriously.
Did St Philip know many of the most powerful people in the Church? Yes. We will read about the procession of the relics of Saints Papias and Maurus to the new Oratorian church. Gallonio tells us about all the high ranking prelates who were there. We see how much Rome and its leadership had changed since St Philip began his work.

I'm hoping that if we get enough supporters, I can record some more classics outside of the podcast. I'm researching out an Alexandre Dumas book that might fit the bill. If you can swing it, please chip in! In this week's story, we delve more into the Hungarian horse culture, and learn more about the flatland known as the puszta. I've been there, and it's as flat as it's described in the story. I've grown up all my life in the mountains, and that was the first time in my life I experienced the complete absence of anything varying the skyline. No mountains, no hills. Just a dome of sky. It's really an amazing place. Last week, we met Sandor Decsi, a Hungarian horseman, or csikos, who was drafted into the war to serve the Emperor. He gave a comb, signifying his engagement to Klari, the young woman who run the Hortobagy Inn. Sandor wasn't too happy with her, because it was evident that she had been a little unfaithful, as he had met on the way to see her he met Ferko Lacza, a cowboy, who had received from Klari a yellow rose from the only yellow rose bush on the puszta. Due to this lover's spat, Klari remembered the teachings of a gypsy woman, who said to add mandragora root to her sweetheart's wine, if she wanted to get him to love her again. Meanwhile, Ferko the cowboy was on his way to escort a herd of cattle to Austria, and start a new life as the lead cowherd there. Our story today begins when the group of men are getting ready to start the journey across the puszta to their new home and country. And now, The Yellow Rose, Part 2 of 3, by Maurus Jokai. Will the maid known as The Yellow Rose remain true while her beau is away soldiering for the emperor? A Hungarian Western by Maurus Jokai, today on The Classic Tales Podcast. If you can swing it, please chip in! And now for something completely different. A while ago, back in May, I asked via Facebook whether it might be time for a western to be in order. Since I'm from the West myself, I thought it might be fitting. For one reason or other, I wasn't feeling it. However, I did run across this idea. Today's book, The Yellow Rose, is from Maurus Jokai, or Jokai Mor, one of Hungary's most famous writers. Hungary is famous for its horse culture, and this book takes place at a time before railroads, and deals largely with the traditions and way of life for the cowherds and horsemen, or csikos, of Hungary. Well, I thought, what if I performed this book as if it were an American Western? It parallels our trope of “Western” so well, why not? So, let's give it a shot. Let's go now to an adventure in the old world, in a Western that takes place a stone's throw from Asia. And now, The Yellow Rose, Part 1 of 3, by Maurus Jokai. The Monks of Downside Abbey sing the plainchant Mass for the Memoria of SS Maurus and Placid. Recorded live at Downside Abbey on 15 January 2021.

This week on the USA Weightlifting Podcast, we’re speaking with one of the world’s best Weightlifters, Harrison Maurus. Weighing in at 77 kg, and only 17 years old, Harrison secured Team USA’s first Men’s Weightlifting World Medal in 20 years at the 2017 IWF Weightlifting World Championships. Just a few months later, Maurus beefed up to the next weight class and became the youngest and lightest American weightlifter in history to clean and jerk 200 kgs in competition. We do not have the character count allowance to list all of the other medals he’s won and records he’s broken (national and international on both), so we’ll have to leave it at that to fill you in on what’s actually discussed in this episode… Harrison takes us through his early gymnastics and powerlifting career before he found Olympic Weightlifting through Coach Kevin Simons. We also dive into discipline, mindset, and some visualization techniques Harrison uses to prep for competition. Harrison Maurus is a 17 year old weightlifting prodigy and world champion. Last year, Maurus not only won the 2017 Youth World Championships in Bangkok, Thailand, but also set a new Clean & Jerk Youth World Record of 192kg at the men’s 77kg group! Maurus squatted 200kg at age 13, over 3x bodyweight, and just a month ago, earned a bronze medal in both the men’s 77 kg total and clean & jerk at the 2017 IWF Weightlifting World Championships in Anaheim, CA, securing Team USA’s first men’s weightlifting world medals in 20 years. In this episode, we dive into Maurus’ path in the weightlifting world, his special relationship with his coach Kevin Simons (a CrossFit Games competitor), and his programming and coaching.

"You still don’t seem to know what I am capable of!" Fritz Lang’s 1928 silent spy thriller “Spies” rarely gets brought up when people mention Lang and his filmography. Dwarfed by arguably two of his best made on either side of it – “Metropolis” and “M” – “Spies” was Lang’s first film outside the shell of Ufa, the German motion-picture company. It did well enough for itself, but not well enough to make a big mark in cinema. But if you watch it, you’ll see the birthplace for practically every spy movie trope that has been on screen since. Join us – Pete Wright and Andy Nelson – as we continue our Fritz Lang series with “Spies.” We talk about the spy tropes found in this film and what they led to in later films. We chat about the pacing of the film and why the length of this one at its mostly restored length of 143 minutes may be a bit too slow. We discuss Lang, what he was like as a director, and how his approach worked in the production of this film. We discuss the actors, notably Rudolf Klein-Rogge, Willy Fritsch and Gerda Maurus, and what they each bring to the table. We also touch on the affair Lang had with Maurus during the production of this film. We discuss Fritz Arno Wagner, the DP, and his role here as well as in German cinema in this period. And we chat about some of the filmmaking techniques used here, which work, and which are clearly still being developed. It’s a fun film, albeit a bit overlong, but definitely worth watching. Anyone interested in Lang’s filmography needs to see this one. So check it out then tune in! This episode is titled “The Eucharistic Controversy.”As we round out the Middle Ages in Europe, we have several topics we need to cover before we launch into the Era of Scholasticism. Last time we took a brief look at the Investiture Controversy and an even briefer look at a doctrinal error that had a long lifespan and several flavors – Adoptionism. Now we'll consider another controversy that raged in the church of both East and West for a long time; how to understand the presence of Christ in the Eucharist. For Protestant listeners, the issue was; What do we mean when we say Jesus is present at Communion or the Lord's Supper.I need to begin by making clear à This is not an attempt to expand on ALL the various theories of the Eucharist. That's a discussion way beyond my ability. It took me a while to compose this episode because I had to work out exactly how to phrase things. Words are the tools theologians work with. Those words carry precise meanings. But we're dealing with multiple languages; typically, Greek and Latin. And once the ancient theologians worked out some theological formula over decades, and in some cases, centuries, picking just the right words to express truth, then refining those words, as problems with their earlier choices became clear, then we have to find words in English to accurately translate those. THEN, we face the problem of people pouring different meanings into those words. So, if I get some of this less than totally accurate or clear, I beg your forgiveness ahead of time. I'm no Sheldon Cooper. Just a little guy with a pea-brain.The Eucharistic Controversy owes its origin to the tension between the Bible's call to worship God in Spirit and truth, and the desire to have something tangible to venerate and make focus attention on. The use and veneration of icons in the East had a correlation in the West with the elevation of the Communion elements. While Christians had long discussed the true nature of the elements of Communion, the real controversy got under way in the mid-9th C by a Frankish monk named Paschasius Radbertus. In 831, he published a book titled On the Body and Blood of the Lord; the first complete treatise on the Eucharist. The most significant part of Radbertus' work was his insistence that the elements were the REAL, corporeal, body and blood of Jesus.Let me back up: All Christians believed Jesus was present at Communion. Jesus said, “When two or three of you are gathered in My Name, I'm there in your midst.” Communion was just that; a time for Christians to gather in a special way together IN CHRIST. So when they passed round the bread and wine, they regarded it as a holy moment when the Spirit of God mediated the Person of Jesus in a uniquely way. Simply stated, Jesus was present in Communion. But, people understood that presence in different ways. Augustine, with his massive influence on Medieval theology, said Jesus was spiritually present at Communion, but not physically. His presence was a mystery to be acknowledged by faith. Cyril of Alexandria and John of Damascus said Jesus was bodily present in the Eucharist, but they meant His resurrection body, which was spiritual, not corporeal. So for them Christ's presence in the Eucharist was also a mystery.Radbertus now proposed that the elements of Communion became the literal flesh and blood of Jesus. They were the same stuff as the body born to Mary, as he put it. Phenomenologically, they didn't look or taste like flesh and blood because that would have been too much for people to deal with, so God graciously allowed the bread and wine to retain their outward properties, but in reality, WERE Jesus' body and blood. Radbertus said it was in the act of partaking the Eucharist that eternal life was maintained and nurtured. They were the “medicine of immortality.”The elements became Jesus' body and blood, not by an act of creation but of transformation. This raised the question: If the Eucharist is the real body and blood of Christ, do unbelievers who partake of the elements chew Christ. Radbertus denied it; saying while the elements were the corporeal body of Jesus, they still had to be taken by faith. So while unbelievers might participate in the sacrament, they didn't in fact partake of Christ.Radbertus got around the lack of correspondence between the reality of Jesus' bodily presence and its appearance as bread by saying God allowed this to make sure when the elements were taken, they were done so by faith; so their spiritual benefit could accrue to the partaker. So, the bread and wine were made over as symbols once again, which moved back toward Augustine's position, the very thing Radbertus had set out to undo.Hrbanus Maurus, abbot of Fulda, detested Radbertus' ideas. He denounced any view of the Eucharist that made it a materialistic manifestation of Jesus' body. Maurus said the value of Communion lay in the communicant's faith, not in a piece of bread or drop of wine.Gottschalk, who we'll come back to later, agreed with Radbertus and said the Eucharist WAS Jesus' body and blood. But he refused to take it as far as Radbertus, who said every time Communion was celebrated, it was a fresh sacrifice of Christ, a re-crucifying.This is where we need take a closer look at how the early church understood Communion. The ante-Nicean Fathers, that is, those church leaders before the Council of Nicaea in 325, referred to the Lords' Table, Communion, the Eucharist, whatever you want to call it, as a commemoration of Christ sacrifice. They linked it to the Last Supper where Jesus made it an ordinance for His followers. He said, “Do this in remembrance of Me.” That's the way the Apostles passed it on, as a commemorative moment to reflect on Christ's sacrifice on the Cross when his Body was broken and His blood was shed. The value of Communion was the spiritual link forged between follower and their rabbi through this remembering as they were reconnected in a specific and tangible way to what Jesus did for them.Later Christians moved away from this commemorative core of Communion to a more mystical view of Communion. And since mystery craves expression, it's inevitable someone made the elements of Communion more than mere symbols. Then to say each time they were transformed into the corporeal body of Christ, it wasn't just a commemoration of His sacrifice, it was a fresh sacrifice.Radbertus was the abbot of a monastery in Corbie. King Charles the Bald asked one of his fellow monks, Ratramnus, to evaluate his abbot's work. Ratramnus effectively agreed with Radbertus, but denied that a miracle of transformation took place with the elements. Ratramnus said communicants do indeed partake of Jesus' body and blood. But they do so by faith, rather than by the elements being mystically transmuted into the corporeal body of the man born by Mary. The Eucharistic Controversy of the 9th C opened a door that eventually brought about a new understanding of faith, grace and even the Church. Radbertus' ideas eventually triumphed in the Roman Church because he set them forth in a clear way for an age that ached for assurance of salvation. Now there was a tangible way to be assured people were doing something that maintained and nurtured immortality. His ideas prevailed as well, because his opponents' arguments were vague, complex, and frankly, not as appealing.Radbertus also laid the ground for a paradigm shift in the ministry of the clergy and Church. With a growing emphasis on the fresh sacrifice of the Mass, a bodily presence of Christ provided the rationale for a shift in Christian devotion from its original base in the Word and Faith, to a religious life that centered on the new reality offered in a sacrament. To put it bluntly, interest shifted from what Christ did at the Cross, to what the priest does with Christ in the elements. Jesus began to morph in people's minds from the Victorious Savior to the Eternal Victim – offered continually in the Mass. While Radbertus' view eventually became the majority view in the Latin West, it was never without those who rejected it and clung to a more Augustinian view. And of course, how to understand the Eucharist will re-emerge among the Reformers and see Round 2 in some pretty contentious disputes. But, that's the subject for a later episode.
