Brook LeVan is the co-founder and executive director of Sustainable Settings, an entrepreneurial non-profit organization that inspires people and communities to embrace integrated solutions for sustainable development. Sustainable Settings owns and operates a 244-acre working ranch and Whole Systems Learning Center in Carbondale, Colorado.Brook has an impressive and varied background as an artist, Fulbright Scholar, university faculty member and world traveler. He's a certified Permaculture designer and has consulted, practiced and taught sustainable design, green building, renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, wetland creation and art and design. I first met Brook last summer, when I was taking a permaculture design course held at Sustainable Settings. While I loved the permaculture training and learned a ton of useful information, my mind really exploded when Brook gave us an introduction to biodynamic agriculture, first introduced by Rudolf Steiner in the 1920s. I was so inspired and intrigued by this approach of working with cosmic and spiritual forces to heal and regenerate the land that I returned to Sustainable Settings for a biodynamic preparation-making workshop in September. While Brook considers himself to be a “master of nothing,” I think of him as a master alchemist, regenerative wizard and pioneer. We had a fascinating and wide-ranging conversation, covering:* Brook's transition from artist in the art world to artist of the land;* Art as a mechanism for social change and personal evolution, and art and life as one;* Unsubscribing from the Western paradigm and opening to an indigenous worldview;* Using the physical to ask the metaphysical questions – and the ritual potential in all activities;* Moving beyond the “compaction between our ears” and opening to the recognition that everything is alive and speaking to us;* The ancient and new frontier of “vertical” agriculture – taking into account cosmic forces;* How to reestablish holy order and intimacy as stewards of the earth;* The importance of nutrient density on the spiritual and etheric levels;* And much more!Find out more about Brook's work and biodynamic agriculture:Sustainable SettingsBuild Soil or DieBiodynamic SourceBiodynamic BotanicalsEnzo Nastati's YouTube channel, and his teaching on The 13 Holy Nights (in Italian but translated into English)Find out about Emily's astrology readings and online classes: EmbodiedAquarian.com This is a public episode. When learning English, it is important to spend time reading, writing, listening, speaking, and building vocabulary. In my previous English lessons I've talked about the first three areas of study. In this English lesson I'll talk a little bit about why speaking English regularly with an English speaking partner is incredibly important for your progress.Of all of the areas you can study, speaking can be challenging because you need to find someone to talk to, and often you will have to pay for this type of English lesson, but it is worth it!A speaking partner can immediately correct your mistakes, they can help you build confidence and the very nature of the conversation being stressful can help you remember more.I hope you enjoy this English lesson about the importance of speaking English and having and English speaking partner!Note: This is the audio portion of a Youtube English lesson which you can watch right here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jwkjs6XcEbk or find by searching Youtube for, "Bob the Canadian Speaking Practice"Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/bobthecanadian)

The cornerstones of learning English involve reading, writing, listening, speaking, and building vocabulary. As an English learner you will also study some grammar along the way.In this particular English lesson I'll talk a little bit about why writing is both cool and important when it comes to studying English.Of all of the areas you can study, writing certainly can be challenging and frustrating, but it can also help you power through any plateaus you have reached in your English learning. Writing improves your speaking and your ability to express yourself in English. Of all the ways you can get ready for an English conversation, writing just may be one of the best.It helps you form ideas, thoughts, and sentences at your own pace, and it allows you to make the corrections you need before anyone sees it.I hope you enjoy this English lesson about the importance of writing!Note: This is the audio portion of a Youtube English lesson which you can watch right here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k7mk8ZKDVGA or find by searching Youtube for, "Bob the Canadian Why Write?"Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/bobthecanadian)

I am often asked “I want to learn more real English, what is the best way?”. In this episode we will briefly look at some of the many options, and why some may be better than others. However, the most important thing is to choose a method and get started. Which methods work best for you? Comment and let me know. Francis About: Hi, I'm Francis. I’m a Speaker, Life and Career coach. Having been through many highs and lows both in my personal and working life, I can guide you on how to improve your current situation and live a life on purpose. Why do I want to help you? I've been through many low points, especially over the past 17 years, and I want to help you avoid those, and progress in life more steadily without having to spend time solving the same problems I faced. I've been lost and aimless. I've worked so many jobs I didn't like, without a clear goal. I've been in and out of debt many times. I've lost friends and family through my actions and regret many things I've done. From those experiences I've learnt and improved myself, but it took a long time. Self study, self motivation, shaving a positive mindset. I'm still continuing to learn, but without you spending years to do the same, I can guide you on the steps required for solving your concerns. Let's plan the practical steps together! Francis Fung Episode 1 Transcript can be found on the website: https://www.sloanejapan.com
