Bennet came in like a wrecking ball—swinging straight through cryptid sightings, interdimensional theories, covert military installations across the globe, and even the tangled web of political propaganda. It was like getting hit with a conspiracy encyclopedia… but with jokes. Somehow, it managed to be both hilariously unhinged and shockingly insightful. An absolutely chaotic, captivating, and laugh-out-loud kind of episode.// FOLLOW BROADCASTING SEEDS☂️☂️☂️☂️☂️☂️☂️☂️☂️☂️☂️☂️☂️☂️☂️☂️☂️☂️☂️// // GET 15% OFF AT CHECK OUT USING "PARANOI" at FLAVORS OF THE FOREST⬆️⬆️⬆️// STRUGGLING WITH MENTAL HEALTH? After months of rumors and speculation, Sen. Michael Bennet announced on Friday that he is officially running for governor — but he also wants to stay in the Senate while he campaigns so he could appoint his own successor if he wins. So host Bree Davies and producer Paul Karolyi are talking about the campaign announcement that's got local Dems abuzz — plus, we share a follow-up on the turmoil at Illegal Pete's and respond to even more of your takes on Denver's dog poop problem. Paul mentioned the Denver Post editorial about Michael Bennet's succession plan and Axios Denver's report on local opinions on Democrats. For more on Bennet, we talked to historian Phil Goodstein about Bennet's biography ahead of his most recent re-election to the Senate. Bennet himself was previously on the podcast talking about his effort to ban TikTok. Bree mentioned her piece on the dog poop problem for Westword way back in 2016.

Hello and welcome back to The Dana Gould Hour. Your brief audio respite from the world's worst reality show, reality. Samm Deighan is here. She is a film historian and author and has written such books as The Legacy Of World War 2 in European Art House Cinema and a study of Fritz Lang's child murder romp M. Her new book, written with Andrew Nette is entitled Revolution In 35 MM, Political Violence And Resistance In Cinema, From The Art House To The Grindhouse 1960 to 1990. It covers everything from The Battle Of Algiers to Coffin Joe to Zabriskie Point. Harry Medved and Bennet Yellin are here. Harry Medved wrote the book the 50 Worst Movies of All Time when he was in high school! He was 15 when he wrote that book. And that was in the late 70's before VHS tapes. He also wrote, with his brother Michael, the Golden Turkey Awards, which, as you know, is what helped put Ed Wood back on the map in the mid-eighties. He has a series now on PBS called Locationland, where he takes audiences on a tour of famous film locations, this was back when films had locations, as opposed to standing in front of a green screen at a warehouse in Atlanta. I recently had the pleasure of joining Harry on a tour of the locations for a little film you may have heard me talk about, Plan 9 from Outer Space. Bennet Yellin is an author and screenwriter, he's written, with the Farrelly Brothers, There's Something About Mary, Dumb And Dumber, Dumb And Dumber Two. Bennet and Harry have been friends for eons and they are here to talk bad movies, good movies and Ed Wood movies which are, of course, an alchemic mixture of the two. True Tales From Weirdsville tells the tale of the place both wonderful and strange, Twin Peaks. Like everyone else I was super bummed out by the passing of David Lynch in January. I think it was a combination of things. The election, we were in the middle of these catastrophic fires and then, just when things couldn't get worse, they did. As much as I love David Lynch and his work, and have back to…I guess Blue Velvet, what he stood for meant more to me than any particular film or television show or what have you. He was uncompromising in his vision, you could like it or not. That wasn't the point. That's a rare thing these days, when studios and networks seem to be operating under the belief that the only audience worth getting is everyone alive, and anything less is a failure. Twin Peaks, it's origins, success, fall from grace and resurrection is a terrific microcosm of how Lynch's refusal to compromise created something far greater than the sum of it's parts, it flew against convention, challenged audiences. In the case of Fire Walk With Me, it really challenged audiences. But in every instance, time has proven Lynch's instincts were right, so we're going to do a two, possibly three part series on Lynch's career through the lens of Twin Peaks. And NOW, it's on to our filthy business. https://DanaGould.com

Photo : Fabienne Rappeneau

On January 21, 1958, nineteen-year-old Charles Starkweather changed the course of crime in the United States when he murdered the parents and sister of his fourteen-year-old girlfriend (and possible accomplice), Caril Ann Fugate, in a house on the edge of Lincoln, Nebraska. They then drove to the nearby town of Bennet, where a farmer was robbed and killed. When Starkweather's car broke down, the teenagers who stopped to help were murdered and jammed into a storm cellar. By the time the dust settled, ten innocent people were dead, and the city of Lincoln was in a state of terror. Schools closed. Men with rifles perched on the roofs of their houses. The National Guard patrolled the street. If there is a cultural version of PTSD, the town suffered from it. Starkweather and Fugate's capture and arrest, and the resulting trials about the killing spree, received worldwide coverage. The event would serve as the inspiration for the movie Natural Born Killers and Springsteen's iconic album Nebraska. Today, the story has dropped far from the national consciousness. With new material, new reporting, and new conclusions about the possible guilt or innocence of Fugate, the tale is ripe for an updated and definitive retelling. In Starkweather, bestselling author Harry N. MacLean tells the story of this shocking event and its lasting impact, a crime spree that struck deep into the heart of the heartland.Harry N. MacLean joins Ed Opperman to discuss this book and more.BookWebsiteBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-opperman-report--1198501/support.
All first acts must end on a cliffhanger. This is also true for Act One's finale for Pride and Prejudice - The Musical. I'm Josie Brown, the librettist. With Emmy-award winning composer - We discuss how she conceived it as a reprise to CHANGING WORLD — and why she felt it should be sung by the Bennet family, instead of, like the original, sung by the two sets of lovers, Mr. Bingley and Jane and Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth. On our next podcast, we'll be listening to one of my all-time favorite songs in the musical: Being Married, a duet by Charlotte and Mr. Collins. It is also Act 2 opening number, and considering our audience's ecstatic receptions, deservedly so. Can't wait to hear more of the musical's songs? Go to our website — PrideAndPrejudiceTheMusical.com — where you may listen to all of them, download our Reviews brochure, and see videos of some of the productions. (c) 2024 Josie Brown. Description: The image dream of King Nebuchadnezzar, King of Babylon and its historical detail is easily understood. The fulfilment of these prophecies in Daniel according to the purpose of God, paves the way for confidence that the latter day predictions in Ezekiel of Russia's invasion of Israel will also be fulfilled in God's own time according to his will. Study #1 – Summary: This presentation provides an in-depth analysis of the prophecies in the Book of Daniel, focusing on the historical fulfillment of these prophecies and their significance for understanding current events. Study #2 – Summary: This presentation discusses current events and their relation to Bible prophecy, particularly focusing on the prophecies in the books of Daniel and Ezekiel. It explores the concept of the “King of the North” and the “King of the South,” the role of Russia and its allies, as well as the conflict involving Israel and its neighbours. The presentation also examines the significance of the term “Armageddon” and its biblical context, and the potential involvement of European nations in the events leading up to the return of Christ.

Mrs Bennet is overjoyed at Darcy and Elizabeth's, and Jane and Bingley's marriages. Mr Bennet is happy too, even to the point of leaving home to regularly visit Elizabeth at Pemberly. Jane and Bingley stay in Netherfield house for only a year, they then move up north, within 30 miles of Pemberly. Kitty goes to stay with both sisters often too, and becomes a proper lady, losing most of the bad influences that Lydia taught her. Lydia and Wickham try to get closer to Darcy and Elizabeth, hoping that Darcy will be able to provide them with a fortune. Though Darcy can never have Wickham at Longborne, he does consent to allow Lydia to visit very seldom. Even Lady Catherine, after some time passes, comes back to Darcy's side, wanting to be part of his life again, and being able to put up with Elizabeth. With the Gardiners, Darcy and Elizabeth remain forever close; forever thankful to them for their part in joining the two of them. The End.
“Business decision-makers love online video because it gives them the most amount of information in the shortest amount of time.”– Robert Weiss. I think many of you have heard my story about starting my podcast using audio only. Then, one day, my producer shared that she felt I should use video, too. My response was not pretty…lol! I said to her, “You're crazy, and that's never happening.” Well, a few days later, I agreed to start using video. Why did I agree so quickly? Well, because her reasoning was sound. She shared that the more people saw and heard me and got a vibe of who I am and how I roll, the more apt they would be to follow my podcast. This would quickly build the know-like-trust factor, generating more leads and, ultimately, more sales. Here's the funny thing: People started to say yes more quickly during sales conversations; they started following me on LinkedIn and other social media, and when I asked how they found me, the answer was always, "I saw you or heard you on my podcast or as a guest on another podcast. "As the old saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words. So, is video your next step in generating more sales? When Elizabeth and Darcy return Jane asks where they could have been for so long, but Elizabeth dismisses the question for the evening until she and Jane retire to their room, where she confesses her engagement to Mr Darcy. Jane doesn't believe her at first, and Elizabeth is forced to confess the change of her feelings towards Darcy and how it came about. After a long conversation Jane finally accepts it and is overjoyed for her sister. The following morning Darcy and Bingley come by the house, Darcy to the distain of Mrs Bennet, and she suggests that Elizabeth goes on a long walk to keep him from disturbing Bingley and Jane. While on the walk, Darcy and Elizabeth conclude that Mr Bennet's consent must be asked for that evening, and when home, as soon as supper is over, Darcy follows him to his Library. When Darcy leaves with a smile, Elizabeth is calmed a little, but Darcy then asks her to go see him too. Mr Bennet is bewildered and frustrated with Elizabeth, believing her to hate Darcy. She then needs to sadly explain that she does not, and indeed, loves him. Mr Bennet is still confused, but eventually after more explanations, that Elizabeth is not just in love with him, but her confession that she would be happy with him, he consents to her marrying Darcy too. All that is left is for Elizabeth to tell her mother. Like her Husband, Mrs Bennet cannot believe it, and she sits in silence for the first time ever while Elizabeth explains all to her. When she can finally respond, she feels happier that she has ever felt before, and feels sorry that she ever spoke a bad word against him.

She eventually concludes that the speculation must have come to Lady Catherine through the Collins' imagination after hearing about Jane's engagement to Bingley. The next morning Elizabeth is invited to follow her father into his library. He is holding a letter and at first, she believes it to be from Lady Catherine, telling him too to refuse any proposal from Darcy. He then goes on to explain to her that the letter tells him that he should congratulate her for a potential engagement of her own and explains that the letter is from Mr Collins. Mr Bennet then goes to read the letter allowed, and while poking fun at Lizzy, he eventually goes to joke at Mr. Collins believing that Mr Darcy will be proposing to her. He laughs out loud at this, believing Elizabeth to still dislike and even hate Darcy. Elizabeth tries to laugh with him, hoping that her father will not see through her, but she really does wish that her father didn't laugh at the idea of her marrying Darcy.
Ben and Nayeema take on the critique of bias in the media—a conversation that always seems timely, but especially so right now, weeks away from a US election and with an expanding conflict in the Middle East. To help make sense of what we see as media bias and the moral questions that journalists have to grapple with every day, they bring on James Bennet, who has been in the center of the thorny conversation around bias and the Middle East since his tenure as the Jerusalem Bureau Chief at The New York Times. He continued to be at the fulcrum of this discourse when he was forced to resign as the Times Editorial Page editor during a heated moment at the publication in 2020. Bennet is now a senior editor at The Economist where he writes the Lexington column. Read James' piece "Letter From the Middle East; Children Fill Ledger of Death, No Matter How, or How Many." In this episode, I explore The Other Bennet Sister by Janice Hadlow. It starts as a reimagining of Pride and Prejudice through the eyes of the overlooked middle sister, Mary. The story continues after the death of Mr Bennet, with Mary discovering that being the only unmarried sister leaves you in a vulnerable position. Throughout the book, Mary emerges from the shadows of her more outgoing sisters to find her own path in a world that values beauty and charm. I'll discuss her journey toward self-discovery, love, and independence, offering insight into how Hadlow deepens Mary's character and reshapes her narrative. To find out what I thought of this rather chunky historical sequel, give this more lengthy episode a listen. In this episode of Vital Psychedelic Conversations, David interviews Rachelle Sampson, Ph.D.: researcher and founder of Blue Prism Coaching; and Bennet Zelner, Ph.D.: researcher, speaker, and creator of the Pollination Approach. They are both Vital instructors and Associate Professors at the Robert H. Smith School of Business, University of Maryland. Based on a passion for regenerative economics (how we might be able to apply patterns of nature to socioeconomic systems), they are co-leading the Connected Leadership Study, a research project tracking how psychedelic experiences can facilitate change in people in leadership positions. They believe that a shift from a mechanistic attunement to a more synergistic recognition of our interconnectedness should lead to new ways of thinking, resulting in more creative leaders with better decision-making and team-building skills, and corporate culture caring more about values, regenerative models, equity, and sustainability – all while still being successful. They wonder: Can psychedelic experiences create better leaders? Can capitalism become more conscious? They discuss: The structure of the study, what they learned in the first cohort, and why they track participants for a yea How change happens over time, and why they believe it to needs to happen from the bottom u The concept of emergence and emergent change illustrated by the shifts in movement of a flock of bird How synergistic attunement can be traced back to the cellular level The challenge of balancing the therapeutic aspect of psychedelics with the more corporate strategy/professional side and more! The study's next cohort begins in October, so if you're a business leader interested in being a participant, head to Leaders.study for more info. And if you'd like to learn more about these concepts, the new Regenerative Business and Leadership specialization path in this year's cohort of Vital digs deep into this world.
