Au parc, entre les voitures ou sur un terrain vague et surtout à la plage : au Maroc le football se pratique partout. Au-dehors des structures sportives officielles, il est joué par des amateurs de tout âge et constitue un véritable vecteur de sociabilité. Entre les « Brésiliennes », les matchs de « minifoot » ou les entraînements techniques, visite de la plage de Aïn Diab à Casablanca, où chaque jour des centaines d'amoureux du ballon rond se réunissent face à la mer pour taper la balle. De notre correspondant à Casablanca, « Je fréquente souvent la plage de Aïn Diab et en particulier la porte numéro 1, là où se regroupent les plus grands jongleurs de Casablanca », confie Ilyas Azami, 48 ans, dirigeant d'une entreprise de logistique. Face à la mer, le père de famille enchaîne les échanges, avec le genou ou les pieds, sans que le ballon ne touche le sable : « À chaque fois qu'il y a quelqu'un qui joue avec moi et que je le vois faire un geste, je ne cesse de le répéter pour le maîtriser. Je sais que certains gestes, je ne vais jamais les maîtriser à la Ronaldinho, mais par exemple je peux contrôler avec le tibia, je peux contrôler du dos. Mais chacun de nous ici a la baraka à ce qu'il maîtrise en fait ». Viser l'excellence, mais aussi profiter, se vider la tête et faire des rencontres. « On aime ce qu'on a, on aime cette plage. C'est un peu comme les gens qui vont prendre un petit apéro après le job. Il y en a d'autres qui seront dans un café ou d'autres qui vont se balader. Nous, notre fantasme, c'est de venir ici et de jongler avec un ballon, mais un ballon spécial, qui est le Mikasa », explique Ilyas Azami. Le Mikasa, un ballon de foot-volley, bien gonflé et assez lourd, pour des coups puissants et maîtrisés. Amin est venu avec son père et son frère : « Si un joueur ne sait pas jongler, c'est comme un chef qui ne sait pas faire une omelette », s'amuse-t-il. Il est dans notre sang depuis la naissance » À côté des jongleurs et des joueurs de minifoot, deux pierres délimitent des petits buts d'à peine un mètre de longueur. Ils se comptent par centaines sur les deux kilomètres de la plage d'Aïn Diab. Mohamed, 21 ans, explique pourquoi le minifoot a tant d'adeptes : « C'est plus technique, parce que tu ne peux pas frapper de loin. Tu dois jouer en passes. Et quand tu joues pieds nus, tu peux encore plus développer ta technique. »  Le jeune homme a déjà le gabarit d'un pro. Il évolue actuellement en sixième division et rêve de décrocher un contrat. « Je viens ici pour m'entraîner pour ma carrière. Je m'entraîne tous les jours dans l'espoir de réaliser ce rêve », ajoute-t-il.  Ce jour-là, seuls des hommes jouent sur la plage, sauf une jeune fille de 14 ans en plein effort : « Je m'appelle Leïla, oui je joue au foot. J'aime trop jouer et c'est mieux de jouer avec les garçons, le niveau est meilleur », déclare-t-elle. De 44 ans son aîné, Mohammed, 68 ans, vient lui aussi taper la balle tous les jours depuis qu'il est à la retraite. Il résume ainsi la relation du pays avec le football : « S'il n'y a pas de ballon, il n'y a rien du tout. Il est dans notre sang depuis la naissance. »  Il insiste sur les rencontres qu'il fait à la plage : avocats, médecins ou jeunes des quartiers populaires, la plage d'Aïn Diab rassemble tous les profils. « Je viens découvrir un autre monde, partage Mohammed. Un mode de vie, un autre style de vie, loin du stress. On sent l'iode, c'est une clinique pour moi ».  Les matchs finissent généralement au coucher du soleil par un bain de mer, entre les deux pointes rocheuses de la Corniche et l'îlot de Sidi Abderrahman.
