Our first guest speaker on the Bendigo Business Stories podcast is Jeremy Forbes, a proud Bendigo native with a remarkable mission. In 2013, Jeremy co-founded Hope Assistance Local Tradies (HALT), a national grass-roots suicide prevention charity that champions the wellbeing of tradies and blue-collar workers. His passion for making a difference has propelled him onto the global stage, where he delivered a powerful TED talk, spreading awareness about mental health and suicide prevention far beyond our borders. While HALT's talks have resonated in Melbourne, interstate and regional areas, Jeremy is eager to bring more of this vital conversation back to his hometown, Bendigo. He's committed to breaking down the barriers of shame and stigma, encouraging everyone to reach out and seek help when needed. But there is more to Jeremy than his incredible work. He currently calls Castlemaine home, where he enjoys the company of his cat, Maggie. His interests span from invigorating hikes to artistic shed and landscape painting, delving into history, and supporting the Collingwood Football Club. In this insightful conversation with Jeremy and our host Kimberley Furness, we delve into mental health, community building, and real-life conversations. This episode includes discussions about suicide, a topic we approach with sensitivity and care. I contacted Kate to come and chat to me on the podcast as I was interested in why she started the campaign No Packet November. She started this campaign because of what she saw in kids lunch boxes - so much processed and packaged foods. The campaign is in its 3rd year, and now also has taken on an environmental edge - less rubbish inside our kids, and less rubbish in our environment. Kate lives with her hubby, 3 kids, and lives on a big property in Kyneton with some alpacas, dogs, chickens and more! She shares her insight since having kids, her philosophy on health for herself and her family, how she finds balance - and why she is still probably trying to still find it (like all of us), and also shares some great resources. Kate has an upcoming men's health event in her home Kyneton. The details are: Men United, Thursday 28th March, with guest speaker Jeremy Forbes (from HALT - Hope & Assistance for Local Tradies). The talk will focus on mental health, depression and suicide prevention. To find Kate, or to find out more about this event, go to: www.tastingfitness.com or email Kate at: kate@tastingfitness.com Instagram:@nopacketnovember & @tastingfitness To connect with me, please go to: Healthy Fit and Nourished (www.healthyfitandnourished.com.au) I offer one on one online coaching to women, online programs and e-books. I also offer a free 15 min Skype consultation to see if I may be able to help you on your health journey. Contact: tracey@healthyfitandnourished.com.au Mobile: 0425847286 Love Tracey xx
