Character Corner - A Podcast on Your favorite Comic Book Characters
We're continuing our Summer of Character Corner expansions with a new Character Corner/Comic Book Book Club hybrid. We're kicking off our discussion of Jonathan Hickman's Marvel run by discussing his wonderful Fantastic Four Run. Hickman fundamentally changed the Marvel Universe, starting in 2009 with Secret Warriors all the way through the 2015 Secret Wars. We'll be revisiting Secret Wars (And S.H.I.E.L.D.) next month and wrapping up with Avengers/New Avengers/Secret Wars. But we decided to start with Fantastic Four since the founding family of Marvel will be returning with their own solo book written by Dan Slott next month. Also, we've referenced this run a lot (From our Doctor Doom Part 3 to Black Panther to our Premium New Avengers/Secret Wars Comic Book Book Clubs) but we've never sat down and made it our focus. That changes now. Issues/Reading Order: Omnibus Volume 1 Volume 2 Dark Reign: Fantastic Four Dark Reign: Fantastic Four #1-5 Fantastic Four by Jonathan Hickman, Vol. 1 Fantastic Four #570-574 Fantastic Four by Jonathan Hickman – Volume 2 Fantastic Four #575-578 Fantastic Four, Vol. 3 Fantastic Four #579-582 Fantastic Four, Vol. 4 Fantastic Four #583-588 FF Vol. 1 FF 1-5 FF Vol. 2 FF 6-11 Fantastic Four by Jonathan Hickman – Volume 5 Fantastic Four 600-604 FF #11 Fantastic Four #600 FF #12 Fantastic Four #601 FF #13 Fantastic Four #602 FF #14 Fantastic Four #603 FF #15 Fantastic Four #604 FF #16 Fantastic Four #605 to #606 FF #17 to #18 Fantastic Four #607 to #608 FF #19 to #21 Fantastic Four #609 to #610 FF #22 Fantastic Four #611 FF #23 Like what you hear? %CODE1% Dpalm and Kriss present the final part of their Character Corner series on Doctor Doom. During this final part we focus mainly on Jonathan Hickman's Fantastic Four run that leads into New Avengers/Secret Wars. The heart of this story is a Reed Richards vs Doctor Doom story but there's so much more. We see Doom become a God, twice. We also see more of the relationship between Valeria & Victor. Doom kinda sorta tries to redeem and do good but ultimately is still a dick. We also finish up by talking about the new direction we see for Victor Von Doom in the new Invincible Iron Man run. This is one of our favorite Character Corners and you're going to want to listen. Issues: Doomwar #3 - Doom confronts the Panther God and is judged as having "pure" intentions The Entire Jonathan Hickman run of Fantastic Four (Volume 3 #570-611) & FF(Volume 1 #1-13) FF #2 - Doom mocks Ben for watching Johnny die FF #12 & 16 - All Hope Lies with Doom Fantastic Four #611 - Reed, Valeria, Nathaniel go to save Doom from Doomworld Fantastic Four Annual 2014 - Sue goes to Latveria to get Valeria Loki: Agent of Asgard #6 & 7 - Doom and Valeria take on Lokia Jonathan Hickman's New Avengers & Secret wars New Avengers #6 - an Incursion happens in Latveria New Avengers #24 - Namor comes to Doom & Doom rejects him. After a ton of news coverage, two wrap up articles, three podcasts and a bought of the plague, the Talking Comics crew is finally free of New York Comic Con and ready to get back to business. That business, as it turns out, is talking about a whole mess load of comics! Bobby, Steve and Bob dive head first into a pool of books that came out in the past few weeks including, but not limited to, Hawkeye, Daredevil, Captain Marvel, Punk Rock Jesus, and the last issue of Jonathan Hickman's Fantastic Four. The crew also breaks down the Marvel Now Point One issue, gushes over the Iron Man 3 teaser, and gives their final thoughts on the Avengers Vs. X-Men event. Annnnnnnnnnd... we say it on the show, but just in case you missed it, the Talking Comics crew on Twitter are: Bobby: @ bobbyshortle Steve: @ dead_anchoress Stephanie: @ hellocookie And Bob's email is bobreyer@talkingcomicbooks.com FYI: the gang have brand new avatars on Twitter, Facebook and they'll be uploaded here to the Talking Comics site shortly.
