We're back with a new Insanity Check episode with guest, Dpalm (Host of the Unanimous Decision podcast). This is a short episode where Kriss and Dpalm spend some much needed time asking the question of "Why is everyone being stupid?". From the insanity that is sports betting and "predictive markets" (i.e. gambling on every thing) to the Epstein file stating what everyone really already knew (the world's richest men manipulating public opinion on things that could challenge their power) to every day people selling their souls for a quick dopamine hit with A.I. slop. People know better and need to do better.  The Bucks' Giannis Antetokounmpo is now a Kalshi shareholder, which is the obvious and logical next step for Sport's maddening  decent into gambling. What could possible go wrong?  Hobart, Indiana's deal with Amazon for a data center is a perfect example of why these data center deals are bad. In exchange for investing virtually nothing back into the city, Amazon gets decades of no taxes. Remember when copyright laws applied to everyone? Well apparently that doesn't count for A.I. companies. For example, "Project Panama" where Anthropic scanned and then destroyed millions of books without permission in order to train their models Guest: Dpalm @dpalm66.bsky.social‬   Like what you hear? KRISS-LAURE

One of the most common mistakes we see runners make is innocently dropping their strength and conditioning as their running volume and intensity increases. This leaves the individual 'hoping' that their body will be able to tolerate the ever increasing demands and carry them through the rest of the year. Unfortunately more often than not this leads to overtraining, and injuries start to creep in. Kriss is joined by Justin this week. We spend a little bit of time talking about the Dem wins on election night and the government shutdown. It's (hopefully) becoming more clear to Americans (the majority) that the GOP's sole goal in life is to punish everyday Americans. Maybe just maybe they'll start to understand. But the majority of the episode is talking about how Tech Bros and their shareholders have absolutely lost their goddamn minds. First, there's Tesla shareholders approving a $1 Trillion compensation package for Elon Musk despite the fact that he hasn't actually delivered anything. What's worse is when you look at the terms of the pay package, it's clear that is is damn near impossible for him to achieve. 1 Million Tesla robots? No. 10 million autonomous driving subscriptions (they have 12% adoption rate currently)? Taking Tesla fro $1.5 trillion market cap to $8.5 trillion in 10 years? Will never happen. So instead it's just glazing a delusional CEO that hasn't actually built a damn thing himself. If you can, try to make it through his ridiculous remarks during the shareholder meeting. I dare you. But Elon and Tesla are just the tip of the iceberg. Sam Altman and Open A.I. have some how managed to convince of bunch of other rich people that giving them money to burn through is a good idea. Make no mistake. Openly lighting hundreds of billions of dollars on fire might actually be more useful and less damaging to the environment than the hundreds of billions of dollars being thrown at Open A.I to make a chatbot that is a slightly worse Google Chat and also might convince your kids to kill themselves. The financial numbers don't make sense. The products (that don't exist) don't make sense. The damage to the environment doesn't make sense. None of it makes sense. Except...it means "number go up".    Guest: Justin @LJay90   Like what you hear? Subscribe so you don't miss an episode!   Follow us on BlueSky: @InsanityReport

Kriss and Ro are back for a new episode of The Insanity Check and there's plenty of dumb shit to go over.  First, why are snickers...regular snickers...$2? This is absurd. Almost as absurd as having a Nazi tattoo (THE Nazi Tattoo) and trying to claim you didn't know it was a Nazi Tattoo. Graham Platner once again proves how white men are given the  benefit of the doubt for the absolute dumbest things. It should be that having a Nazi tattoo means you can't run for public office but apparently, that's a  bar too high. And that doesn't get into all the sexism, homophobia and everything else from his Reddit posts.  We miss the days when having a nazi tattoo meant you were clearly unqualified to be a politician. They really think we're too stupid to accept better. Guest: Ro ‪@bookblerd.bsky.social‬   Like what you hear? Subscribe so you don't miss an episode!   Follow us on BlueSky: @InsanityReport

We're back with another Insanity Check. It's getting to the point where these episodes are more like weekly therapy sessions so we can try to make it through all the horrible shit that's coming up in the week. Kriss is joined by Ro this time and we're talking through some of the connective threads through all the things we're dealing with. The ability to see connections and understand the impacts of multiple things at a time is something we've seen really decline. And part of that is due to how some of the things we grew up doing either no longer happen or are much harder to get. It also doesn't help that parents have a much harder time being able to help supplement their child's learning because they're being overworked and have less free time We also talk about how the US stock market is held up by the same 7 companies, all off them responsible for shoving A.I. down our throats. And they're doing it while packing environmentally unfriendly data centers in populated areas. Also...they told us that A.I. would  take the boring jobs and leave humans to do more Arts & Humanities. So why are we talking about A.I. actors now? Full video on the expansion of Data Centers in residential areas. One note, turns out Ro & I were talking about two different A.I. cases around A.I companies stealing copyright content. Fun times when it's so many...you lose track. Kriss is joined by Karen from the Black Guy Who Tips. A good portion of the show we end up talking about the beginning of the discussion between Ezra Klein and Ta-Nehisi Coates on Ezra's podcast. It's a good (if not sometimes frustrating) discussion between the two in which it becomes clear that Klein, is so focused on not losing that it's a set up to not win. Coates challenges (with no real good explanations from Klein) on how to rationalize wanting the left to "learn from" the right in such a short term viewpoint. He brings up the fact that the claim of the "increase in political violence" downplays the political violence experienced by so many marginalized groups for decades. And while Coates doesn't directly say it, we talk about how insulting it is to claim that the Right constantly engages with those that disagree with them while ignoring all the work and engagement that black and brown writers/activists and others do on the left.  The whole conversation is both enlightening as well as frustrating because it illustrates just how cowardly so many on the left are and how easily they are willing to throw the less fortunate out if it means scoring political points.   Full Ezra Klein/Ta -Nehisi Coates Guest: Karen ‪@theblackguywhotips.bsky.social   Like what you hear?
