S8Ep35 The Secret Life of a Junk Journal!
Physiotherapist, nutritionist, and The Proof is in the Plants author Simon Hill joins Dotsie and Alexandra to trace how a single terrifying moment reshaped his entire career, and what the evidence really says about eating for a long, healthy life. When Simon was 15, he watched his father, just 41 years old with no prior health issues, suffer a heart attack right in front of him on a remote Sunday afternoon. That day, combined with a growing frustration over the "bro science" he was fed while working with elite AFL and VFL athletes, sent him back to school for a master's in nutrition science and set him on a lifelong, evidence-based mission. In this conversation, Simon explains why our genes load the gun but our lifestyle pulls the trigger when it comes to chronic diseases like heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and dementia. He unpacks the gut microbiome and why anyone coming off a low-fiber Western diet should ramp up plants gradually, treating fiber like a gym program rather than going gung-ho overnight. Dotsie and Simon trade practical, failure-proof tips for making beans and legumes easier to digest, and Simon delivers a masterclass in "lectinology," dismantling the fear-based claims of The Plant Paradox with a clear look at what the science actually shows. What we discuss: Why heart disease runs in families, and how much of it is actually within your control How your daily choices determine whether disease-linked genes get expressed Why a disrupted microbiome makes healthy foods feel uncomfortable at first The step-by-step way to add fiber without the bloat and gas Simple tricks for prepping beans and legumes so they're easier on your gut Why the lectin scare is a case study in cherry-picked science What the world's longest-living people eat every single day Resources: https://theproof.com/ https://www.instagram.com/simonhill/ https://www.youtube.com/c/TheProofWithSimonHill Click the link below to learn about the FISCAL Act (S. 222) https://switch4good.org/fiscal-act/ Share the website and get your resources here https://kidsandmilk.org/ Dairy-Free Swaps Guide: Easy Anti-Inflammatory Meals, Recipes, and Tips https://switch4good.org/dairy-free-swaps-guide SUPPORT SWITCH4GOOD https://switch4good.org/support-us/ ★☆★ JOIN OUR PRIVATE FACEBOOK GROUP ★☆★ https://www.facebook.com/groups/podcastchat ★☆★ SWITCH4GOOD WEBSITE ★☆★ https://switch4good.org/ ★☆★ ONLINE STORE ★☆★ https://shop.switch4good.org/shop/ ★☆★ FOLLOW US ON INSTAGRAM ★☆★ https://www.instagram.com/Switch4Good/ ★☆★ LIKE US ON FACEBOOK ★☆★ https://www.facebook.com/Switch4Good/ ★☆★ SUBSTACK ★☆★ https://dotsiebausch.substack.com/ ★☆★ AMAZON STORE ★☆★ https://www.amazon.com/shop/switch4good

What drives someone to pursue not just one extraordinary path, but two? Olympic gold medalist and physician Imogen Grant has devoted herself to two radically different disciplines, medicine and rowing, and somehow managed to reach the pinnacle of both. But listening to her speak about the human body, "the perfect stroke," and what draws her so deeply into each, and the divide between them starts to disappear. She brings a rare depth and poetry to the things she does, with an endlessly curious, deeply disciplined nature and a genuine fascination with discovery. She also gets candid about nutrition, injury, and what it takes to prepare for LA28, offering a glimpse of the life behind the medals and the making of someone who has turned living into an art form. What we discuss: How she brings both a creative and scientific mind to medicine and rowing and manages the demands of doing both. Her experience with the IOC and Olympic facilities working to accommodate her dietary needs. Her thoughts on the LA 2028 Olympics, where she is in her preparations, and the mindset that is guiding her. Her thoughts on peptides and what actually matters most when it comes to supporting your health. How she handles injury, including a rib stress fracture caused by rowing and how she knew when her body was ready to return to the sport. The books she's currently enjoying and how reading fits into her life alongside training. Her personal mantra. Acts 7 is the longest chapter in the book of Acts filled with faith, bold obedience, and martyrdom. It is not just a recitation of church history for the nation of Israel and the Jewish people, but Stephen is also refuting the Jewish leaders' indictments against him. Stephen, filled with the Holy Spirit, delivers a fiery speech. He not only recounts the nations history, but he challenges the religious establishment ultimately ending in Stephen becoming the first christian martyr. Acts 6 is a master class in Church Leadership amidst rapid growth. This is a very short chapter that would be easy to skip over so please don't. Take the time to read over it yourself and glean from it as much as you can. Especially if you tend to be a leader that has to do all the things. There is a simple formula the Apostles used to figure out what to do and we can too. They identified the problem, examined the problem, solved the problem, and released and equipped others to fix the problem. S8Ep 31 Stop Making Pages! Start CreATING eXPERIENCES :)
Természetesen szóba kerül Amerika is. Milyen itt magyarnak lenni? Több ezer magyar hazatelepülésben segítettek, miközben a világ szinte minden országába eljutottak. Can one small habit completely change the way you think about money, success, and abundance? In this episode of **Journey of a Fearless Female**, I sit down with Heather Western to explore how tiny, intentional daily habits can create profound internal transformation. Inspired by the teachings of Joseph Murphy, Bob Proctor, and the power of the subconscious mind, Heather shares how something as simple as washing the dishes before bed became a powerful identity shift.Instead of focusing on willpower or hustle, we discuss how changing your daily behaviors can begin changing your beliefs—and ultimately, your life.In this conversation, we explore:• Why your subconscious responds more to repeated actions than positive thinking.• How your habits shape your identity.• Releasing resistance around money and abundance.• The connection between your environment and your mindset.• Practical ways to create lasting change, one small step at a time.If you've ever felt stuck, overwhelmed, or like you're waiting for your life to change before you change, this conversation is for you.✨ Remember: Big transformations rarely happen overnight. They begin with one intentional choice, repeated consistently. If you enjoyed this episode, please like, subscribe, and share it with someone who's ready to create lasting change from the inside out.You can find Heather on tik tok @habitswithheather ★☆★ LISTEN TO MY PODCAST: ★☆★https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/journey-of-a-fearless-females-podcast/id1458672029https://open.spotify.com/show/3xkxUuVraVH1dLuxTTaWLJ?si=iiPnDTPyTcaMh5TDd0twvA★☆★ SUBSCRIBE TO ME ON YOUTUBE: ★☆★Subscribe ► https://www.youtube.com/@fearlessfemale★☆★ CHECK OUT MY WEBSITE: ★☆★www.fearlessfemale.com★☆★ FOLLOW ME BELOW: ★☆★Facebook ► https://www.facebook.com/PaolaRosser26Substack ► https://paolarosser.substack.com/ Instagram ► https://www.instagram.com/fearlessfemale_coach TikTok ► https://www.tiktok.com/@paola.rosser Amazon Store ► https://amzn.to/4i9FbOM ★☆★ AFFILIATE LINK : ★☆★https://vidiq.com/fearlessfemale/
Can the way we eat and live actually lower our risk of cancer? That question sits close to my heart, and in this episode I sit down with Dr. Shireen Kassam, consultant hematologist, lifestyle medicine physician, and founder of Plant-Based Health Professionals UK to dig into what the science really says. Dr. Kassam has spent years at the intersection of clinical oncology and nutrition, and what she shares here is both hopeful and practical. We talk through how diet, exercise, body weight, alcohol, smoking, sleep, and the gut microbiome each shape cancer risk, and why our daily choices matter both before a diagnosis and long after one. I found myself nodding along and rethinking a few things I thought I understood, and I think you will too. In this episode, you'll learn: Why as many as 4 out of 10 cancers may be preventable through lifestyle change The biggest modifiable risk factors that have nothing to do with your genes How excess body fat drives cancer risk through inflammation and hormones The way physical activity actively protects the body against cancer What the evidence really says about red meat, processed meat, and dairy The truth about soy and breast cancer and why the fear is misplaced Whether sugar directly causes cancer Where olive oil, fats, and the Mediterranean diet fit in What the research does (and doesn't) support about fasting Connect with Dr. Shireen Kassam: Website - https://plantbasedhealthprofessionals.com/ Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/plantbasedhealthprofessionals/ Facebook - https://web.facebook.com/wholefoodplantbasednutrition Click the link below to learn about the FISCAL Act (S. 222) https://switch4good.org/fiscal-act/ Share the website and get your resources here https://kidsandmilk.org/ Dairy-Free Swaps Guide: Easy Anti-Inflammatory Meals, Recipes, and Tips https://switch4good.org/dairy-free-swaps-guide SUPPORT SWITCH4GOOD https://switch4good.org/support-us/ ★☆★ JOIN OUR PRIVATE FACEBOOK GROUP ★☆★ https://www.facebook.com/groups/podcastchat ★☆★ SWITCH4GOOD WEBSITE ★☆★ https://switch4good.org/ ★☆★ ONLINE STORE ★☆★ https://shop.switch4good.org/shop/ ★☆★ FOLLOW US ON INSTAGRAM ★☆★ https://www.instagram.com/Switch4Good/ ★☆★ LIKE US ON FACEBOOK ★☆★ https://www.facebook.com/Switch4Good/ ★☆★ SUBSTACK ★☆★ https://dotsiebausch.substack.com/ ★☆★ AMAZON STORE ★☆★ https://www.amazon.com/shop/switch4good

As the church continues to grow, we see in Acts 5:17-42 that not everyone is happy about it. Miracles, signs and wonders abound, but the truth of Jesus Christ and the Gospel Message is under attack. As the story of the early church continues to unfold, the message to us today is the same. Truth matters and it can't be stopped. There will always be those who oppose the truth and those who hold fast to the truth may experience persecution because of it. The Apostles held to the truth they witnessed first hand and obeyed what they were asked to do, even when persecution came. S8Ep30 MORE Fears ThatStop Folks from Creating Junk Journals!
A nagy áttörést New York hozta meg. Ahogy a nagymamája mondta: "Ember tervez, Isten végez." As we were recording last weeks episode, I felt prompted by the Holy Spirit to recording a specific episode regarding women in the church. Specifically because in Acts 5:12-16 this is the first time Luke mentions the salvation of women and men and not just mentioning the total of men being saved. Both in Acts and the Gospel of Luke, Luke has a lot to say about women and their relationship to Jesus Christ and His Church. Again, as always, Scripture is our foundation and context matters. So we are tackling the hot button topic of Women in Ministry and Church Leadership. We look at the context of Scripture in both the Old and New Testament. We look at historical context and also translation choices of the original Greek words to get a full picture of God's heart and intention towards women in church. We ask that you join us for this powerful conversation with an open heart and open mind as we search for God's truth. Sisters in Loss Podcast: Miscarriage, Pregnancy Loss, & Infertility Stories
Imagine being diagnosed with infertility before you even finish middle school. For DaMarra King, this isn't a hypothetical—it has been her reality since age 13. In this episode, we are joined by DaMarra King—a wife, bonus mom, grants manager, and the voice behind the Suddenly Infertile podcast. DaMarra opens up about her lifelong journey to motherhood, which began when her period stopped at 13 and she was diagnosed with Primary Ovarian Insufficiency (POI). Growing up without seeing Black women talking about infertility, she had to unlearn the shame surrounding her diagnosis and choose to speak openly. DaMarra keeps it incredibly real about the highs and lows of trying to conceive. She shares the realities of starting hormone replacement therapy (HRT) late, navigating impatient medical professionals, and often feeling more like a "science experiment" than a patient due to her unique story. She also discusses the heartache of betrayal in her first marriage, the complexities of dating with an infertility diagnosis, and the nuanced, beautiful, yet challenging experience of being a bonus mom while longing for a biological child with her husband. But DaMarra's story is also one of immense faith and hope. She shares the exciting news that she was recently awarded a grant for a full IVF cycle and will be beginning her treatment this July! In this episode, we discuss: Processing an infertility (POI) diagnosis at just 13 years old. Advocating for your body in the medical system and the challenges of HRT. Navigating the dating world, divorce, and finding true love after betrayal. The emotional complexities of bonus motherhood while battling primary infertility. The process of receiving a fertility grant and preparing for IVF. Why DaMarra launched the Suddenly Infertile podcast to be the representation for Black women that she didn't have growing up. In Acts 4:32-5:16 we see a church that is deeply united in heart and no one, not one single person had a need. We see radical acts of generosity prompted by the Holy Spirit to care for the new emerging church - the body of believers. Then, just as quickly we see the pure heart motives and choices of one person, quickly turning into God exposing bad motives and impure intentions on the part of others. Part of today's discussion involves looking at the different schools of thought around what took place with Annanias and Sappihra. We look at what Scripture actually says and draw some conclusions regarding discernment, heart attitudes, and the importance of guarding our hearts. We often mistake productivity for healing, but true self-care is knowing exactly when to close the laptop and walk away. In this intimate solo episode, Erica pulls back the curtain on the final editing stages of her upcoming book, *Never Healing Alone* (coming April 2027). After returning from vacation and facing the heavy emotional labor of reviewing her July edits, Erica hit a wall of secondary "grief fatigue." Instead of pushing through, she decided to practice exactly what she preaches in Chapter 8: she chose the Sacred Pause. Tune in as Erica shares the raw reality of editing trauma, how to recognize when your body is screaming for rest, and why protecting your peace is a radical act of rebellion against the "Strong Black Woman" schema. Key Takeaways From This Episode: * Why writing, speaking, and editing your trauma requires a secondary level of emotional labor. * How to identify the difference between "pushing through" and self-gaslighting. * Practical ways to put up your "Boundary Shield" when you are simply "over it".

Young people today are inheriting a world they didn't design. They're facing a climate crisis, a food system that puts profit before health, and a constant stream of misinformation that can make meaningful change feel impossible. But a new generation of advocates is already stepping up, asking difficult questions and challenging outdated systems. In this episode, we talk with Lucy Whitney and Gianna Klein, recent graduates of NYU and Cornell who studied sustainability, the environment, and the connection between what we eat and the only habitable planet we've got. Through Switch4Good's Campus Action Now program, they're bringing these conversations to college campuses, helping students understand how food choices shape both human and planetary health. Lucy and Gianna share what sparked their passion for this work, how Gen Z is responding to the climate crisis, why food conversations can feel so personal and complicated, and what gives them hope in a moment when the future feels uncertain. What we discuss: How the environment and ecology influence unexpected parts of our everyday lives. How animal agriculture is contributing to the climate crisis. How climate change and natural disasters are influencing Gen Z's decisions about the future. The Campus Action Now program and how they built a movement to bring dairy-free education and advocacy to college campuses. What service learning is and why it can be such an effective way to create change. The existential questions that come with being alive during this moment in history. How AI's increasing electricity demands could impact the transition away from fossil fuels. How AI is affecting education and the way students learn.
