"Nicole and I call it the good, the bad, the ugly, and the fucking fabulous!" Welcome to Season 3! We are so excited to be back with all new episodes to share with you! This summer has been busy recording a ton of amazing content and we're kicking it off with Nicole Langlois and Julie Robbins of EPIC Business Coaching (and formerly One Epic Place in New Paltz). There is a ton of love in this episode as Nicole, Julie, and Courtney discuss their relationship and how it has grown since the first day Courtney wandered in with a one page business plan and an idea. As Nicole and Julie shift their own business plans, and take their own advice as it relates to doing business on your own terms, the three talk about what it really means to Forge Your Own Path, the value of community, imposter syndrome, challenging your definition of fear, and listening to your intuitive voice. Everyone gets a little weepy in this one, so be prepared for a massive love-fest! About our guests: Julie Robbins: Julie has owned several businesses in varying fields, and is passionate about Holistic Business Coaching and helping local business owners succeed. Even from South Carolina, Julie still keeps our books in order and the big ideas coming! Julie is a mom of 3 boys, loves her hammock, and lives to travel. Nicole Langlois: Nicole homeschooled her 3 girls, spent 6 years in the Navy, traveled around the country in an RV for several years, and doesn't like conformity. She keeps our EPIC Community engaged and rarin' to go, and is always down for a cup of tea, so stop by! (but please don't give her coffee) Nicole likes to travel, hike, play poker, knit (never with a pattern), and cook (never with a recipe). Season Three is just getting started so please send topic ideas, guest suggestions, questions and other commentary to courtney@shineandsoar.com. Please rate, review, and subscribe wherever you are listening and don't forget to share with a friend! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/pragmaticalchemy/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/pragmaticalchemy/support
Hilary talks with Julie Robbins, CEO of EarthQuaker Devices, one of the biggest little pedal companies in the business. They discuss shutting down “the swimsuit edition”, what it's REALLY like to be a CEO, and tips for music gear diversity and inclusion at NAMM and beyond! Plus, sexual harassment training. JULIE'S BIO Julie Robbins is an American business woman, entrepreneur, and chief executive officer of effects pedal manufacturer EarthQuaker Devices, top-six in the U.S. and one of the top-10 in the world, which she owns with her husband EarthQuaker Devices President Jamie Stillman. Robbins is responsible for stewardship of the production, management, marketing and international sales for the company. She is also a champion of female and LGBTQ musicians and entrepreneurs. EarthQuaker Devices are available in over 865 retail locations in approximately 50 countries and its key retailers include Guitar Center, Sam Ash, Sweetwater and Thomann. The company has sold approximately 250,000 units. At age 18, Robbins became the mother to a son; one month before her high school graduation. She enrolled in Baldwin Wallace's Single Parents Reaching Out for Unassisted Tomorrows, or SPROUT program in 1997, which allowed her to live on campus year-round for the price of room and board. While at the school, Robbins earned a Bachelor's Degree in economics and a minor in political science. Robbins also created and managed an artist management and booking company called Musical Adventures from 2000 until 2003 providing booking services for 50 bands, including Liars, Xiu Xiu, Flying Luttenbachers, and Stillman's The Party of Helicopters. After a serious health scare in 2003, she took a job at a local bank as a branch banker, eventually working her way up to a position as a financial planner (2008). She was halfway through certification as a certified public accountant when in 2012, and as EarthQuaker Devices occupied every inch of space in her family's basement, she left her day job to join EarthQuaker Devices as it's full-time business manager. The company's current workforce currently reaches over 50 individuals, and has been praised for its commitment to inclusion, diversity and cooperation with other pedal manufacturers by Best Guitar Effects. EarthQuaker Devices' CEO Julie Robbins is this week's guest on Queen of S-Mountain podcast. Host LG sits down with Julie (pre-social distancing) in a sunny backyard in Nashville, TN to talk about her come-up, motherhood, and the creation of EarthQuaker Devices with her husband. Julie also dives into disrupting a misogynist industry and making it a better place for all women. If you are able, support this podcast and women in audio at patreon.com/QOSM!
It's funny how life can come full circle. And it's awesome to be able to follow up with someone that you remember getting started. Especially when they were getting started on Instagram, during the 2015-2016 period where everybody, and I do mean everybody, was on a mission to make the next hot social brand. I remember seeing @SlayByNickiJ and being impressed with the before and after photos they were posting and how often they were sending them out. I have followed the brand online since then, and to be honest I'm not really sure why. But all the while I kept wondering to myself "who is this 'Nicki J'"? Fast forward to the end of 2019 and her Instagram account has over 13,300 followers! She has such a solid reputation that some of her clients travel from as far as Arizona just to see her. That alone says a lot about the quality and professionalism that she provides. I sat down with Nicki Potter and Julie Robbins, nurse/aesthetics injection professional, for the #502LeaderSeries show on The Serendipitous Channel. We talk about her journey to success, the struggles of running a business, and the gratitude she has kept from day 1. Have a listen! And check out YesLouisville.com for more!
This is part one in a two-parter that took us weeks to put together. We asked some of our favorite folks who work in every realm of the gear industry about their experience with trolls, how they reacted to those trolls, how trolling affects them, and more. We're honored to have Julie Robbins from Earthquaker Devices, Ryan Burke from 60 Cycle Hum, Chelsea Clark from Guitars & Caffeine, and Mike Trombley from Native Audio participate by sharing their extremely varied experiences. We're beyond proud of how this one came together, and we hope that you enjoy the discussion. And stay tuned for part two, which is dropping next week! Sponsored by Jennings Guitars. Do you have an experience with trolling (on either end)? Join our Facebook group and join the conversation!
Episode 102- A DOUBLE WHAMMY!! This week Julie and I get down to business!!!! She is the business end of EQD and we talk about what her day looks like and some of the plans she has for the company. NAMM is discussed, and a whole bunch of other stuff as well. Great stuff. Don't forget to show our awesome sponsors some love. Gunstreet Wiring Shop and The Fear The Riff Expo make this whole thing possible. Last, but not least there is Tonemob.com/reverb for putting some wind in the sails on every purchase you make through Reverb. It costs you nothing extra and helps out tremendously.
