Join us for Memory 343, recorded on a festive December evening in 2021, as we continue our holiday journey around Epcot's World Showcase. After hearing Père Noël in France during our last episode, we take a few minutes to wander through France, Morocco, and the United Kingdom — gathering Kidcot stickers, enjoying the nighttime ambience, and letting the sounds of the season guide us.Our path leads us to the charming garden maze in the UK Pavilion, where the kids play while we wait for the next Holiday Storyteller. We even bump into some longtime friends who now live in Orlando, adding a warm, unexpected moment to the night. Then Father Christmas arrives, ringing his bell and filling the pavilion with festive cheer. He shares the origins of Christmas traditions that began in the United Kingdom — including the start of the greeting card — and even invites Mikey to help ring a bell as he sings. It's a joyful, heartfelt performance that captures the spirit of the season.
On today's episode we are starting a new series in which we discuss that the parks might not be what you think! For our first episode in this series, we discuss the misconception that Epcot is only for adults, and isn't very fun for the kids! That could not be further from the truth, so listen in to see why!
Overview: Today's podcast is a tribute to the Mexico pavilion. I take a thorough look at the design, layout, theming, and talk about the ride contained inside. Then, I spend some time talking about shopping and dining. And finally I discuss the original attraction, El Rio Del Tiempo. Come take a listen to the tale about this fascinating opening-day Epcot pavilion. Notes: In the past, I have referred to the pyramid found in Mexico as the Chichinitza. While it does appear similar in style, the pyramid in Epcot's Mexico is not that. Ir is a Mesoamerican pyramid based on an Aztec design. I'll refer to it correctly from now on. Also, the exhibit I mention that is in the entry way does change from time to time. My understanding is that it recently changed to a different part of Mexican heritage, but it was animales fantasticos when I created this podcast. Also, the Kidcot station has been in the house in the back and at times you can find it in the exhibition area. A reminder that the general overview of Epcot's World Showcase is in podcast #208 I explored the Japan pavilion in podcast #209 and the Germany pavilion in Podcast #216 --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/daves-disney-view/message

The Cast: Michael Montanez, Christine Warner, Gary O'Brien, Ian Mitchell & John Yaglenski - Ian is in lean back mode to start the show - Tweeting from both coasts - Disneyland vs. Disney World... again - Random sounds confuse us - Tony Baxter retiring and will be used as a consultant. - New Pirate Adventure coming to Adventureland - Brady Bunch mention - Wilderness Explorers - like KidCot for Animal Kingdom - Check into the Yeti is Down on Foursquare - Talking Movies. Star Wars 7 and JJ Abrams. Tomorrowland the movie? OZ is coming. Muppets Again in 2014. Saving Mr. Banks. - The second half of the show was unlistenable - something happened audio wise and unfortunately, will join the fabled lost episode in things that were great but never made it to air. Sorry!
