Magnets have been replacing potentiometers in a variety of places for a while now, especially as Hall effect and TMR joysticks have started popping up in fancy game controllers. Now magnetic switches are becoming more common in mice and mechanical keyboards, and Will has spent some time with new products in both of those categories, so we figured it was a good time to lay out how these kinds of switches work, how resistant to wear and electrical "bouncing" they are, what the heck a transducer is, whether there's quantum mechanics involved or not, and what effect these new switches are going to have on the input devices of the future.Show notes for this episode: https://tinyurl.com/techpod-326-mag-switches Support the Pod! Ep. 377: Berlin 2026 – David Hudson on Rosebush Pruning, Red Hangar, Dao, plus a word for Mouse Welcome to The Last Thing I Saw, with your host, Nicolas Rapold. The 2026 Berlin international film festival has kicked off, and to kick things off in suitable fashion, I sat down with the one and only David Hudson, who writes the indispensable Daily column for Criterion's Current. We chatted about the latest edition of the festival and discussed a few films in particular, including Dao (directed by Alain Gomis), Rosebush Pruning (Karim Ainouz), and Red Hangar (Juan Pablo Sallato), while I put in an early word for the very fine Mouse (Kelly O'Sullivan and Alex Thompson). Real Beatlefans have been saying it on the DL (#JimmyButler) for years: "Who the hell needs Rubber Soul?" Certainly not “The Beatles Anthology”, which puts nearly as much emphasis on the 1965 classic as they do “The Beatles At The Hollywood Bowl” (Pre-Ron Howard Edition). OK so maybe it's not that bad, but c'mon Apple, it's RUBBER SOUL! (#HeyHey #Rip) For better AND worse, Beatles Anthology 5 is much like its predecessors; chock full of incredibly remastered footage and audio; while missing certain key elements for time or perhaps simply to please a mouse. (SFX: Buzzer) Sorry! “The Mouse”! Come join Tony, T.J., and Casey as we mansplain how men mansplain Beatles stuff, and since the rule of two mansplainings cancels things out, we'll ponder other life quandaries, like:
Some Garage Hours are on the gearhead nose, and others (ahem; this one?) start lost in woods and get even loster. This episode is heavy on the 2A and stupid human tricks, with tales of Big Gov't trying to truncate your right to bear arms, drones being weaponized by faceless white-collared tweakers, and some fool bastard in France with a WW1 shell jammed up his Peugeot. What else? A bunch of snowmobilin' outdoorsmen gather forces to rescue a lost pony named Mouse, an inquiry of what your privacy is worth, and a deluded twit in China who thought it would be a good idea to take a selfie with a hungry leopard. You were warned... What's more: English accents ain't what they used to be, Virgina won't be worth much for long, laws that ain't worth what they're printed on, and about four tons of Puny Human.

Mickey's rival and the club's landlord Pete (Jim Cummings) often tries to shut down the club. The show contains short gag cartoons in between the episode's main story, many borrowed from Mickey Mouse Works, another One Saturday Morning series. The show was nominated for multiple awards. It won a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation (for Chris Roszak) and an Annie Award for Outstanding Voice Acting in an Animated Television Production (for Corey Burton).Aaron and Josh discuss their histories with the show before going into the premise, humor, and its use of different Disney characters. Is "luck" really holding your pet business back — or are you simply missing the right systems and opportunities? What can Disney teach you about making more money while creating better client experiences? And how can small tweaks to your offers dramatically increase client spend, loyalty, and retention? In this episode, recorded while I'm preparing for IMPACT 2026, I'm continuing my deep dive into business and marketing lessons from the House of Mouse. Using real examples from Disney parks, hotels, and dining experiences, I break down how world-class businesses maximise customer value without it feeling pushy or salesy. I explore why offering premium upsells isn't about squeezing more money out of clients — it's about giving them better choices. I also unpack how perks and incentives drive repeat business, why testing promotions is critical for growth, and why many pet business owners accidentally become the bottleneck in their own marketing by assuming clients "won't go for it." In this episode, you'll discover: The Power of Premium Upsells – Why offering higher-tier services increases revenue and improves client satisfaction. Perks That Drive Loyalty – How small, strategic bonuses encourage repeat bookings and memberships. Give Clients Options, Not Limits – Why combining add-ons and service ladders maximises lifetime value. You Are Not Your Client – How assumptions about what clients want can hold your business back. Storytelling That Sells – Why detailed, emotional service descriptions dramatically increase perceived value. Seriously, if you're tired of being busy, burned out, and underpaid… and you're ready to transform your daycare into a premium, experience-heavy, profit-driven powerhouse… then my Elite Pet Business Mastermind is what you need. The Palace of Westminster, which houses Big Ben and the House of Commons, is falling apart. With parts of the rodent-infested building complex over a 1000 years old, the troubled iconic UNESCO world heritage site came to light last week when a mouse ran past the Leader of the Opposition during a televised interview. A new report has been published on the path forward. Joining Sean was a man who spends most of his days holed up there Mark Paul, London correspondent for the Irish Times.

Moritz Simon Geist is a music producer and researcher working with sound, robotics and algorithms. Beginning his academic career in semiconductor sciences as a PhD student, Geist made a career shift to focus on art and music, where he now merges sound with robotics and algorithms. His approach to electronic music, which involves creating sound through mechanical robots, has earned him international recognition. In 2012, Geist's first work, the "Drum Robot MR-808," went viral, and he has since explored the sound making and producing of electronic music with robots and mechanics as well as releasing many influential and viral works. Geist's compositions are influenced by a broad range of musical styles, including various electronic music genres and classical music, creating a unique and experimental sound. Over the years, he has collaborated with a range of renowned artists, including Mouse On Mars, Tyondai Braxton, Robert Lippok, and Thieß Mynther. His work has been showcased at many international venues and events such as the Venice Biennale, South by Southwest (SXSW), the Philharmonie de Paris, and the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg. He has also presented his work in Japan, Australia, and South Korea. From 2017 - 2020 he held a master class at the NYU Berlin. His contributions to the field have been recognized with numerous awards, such as the ISEA Conference 2024, the Working Grant ZER01NE Seoul in 2023, German Pop Music Prize 2022, and the VIA VUT Award in 2019. Life and education Geist has a classical music education on piano, clarinet and classic music, but turned to electronic, punk and noise music in his student years. After finishing his diploma in electrical engineering and starting his PhD in a research facility, he turned to work as a freelance artist full-time in 2012. Works In 2012 Geist build his first robotic music instrument the “MR-808”, designed after the classic electronic drum machine “TR-808”. The “MR-808” features 12 drum instruments which are beaten by small robots, such as a snare, toms or bass drum. The instrument is controlled with MIDI, and can be played by the audience. The work gained a lot of attention online and was displayed at many occasions. The installation won the Cynetart Prize 2014 and is part of the touring exhibition 'Electro' by the Philharmonie de Paris alongside works of Jeff Mills and Jean-Michel Jarre. Tripods One (2017) In 2017 Geist released the installation “Tripods One”, which is a small robotic music system featuring five robotic percussive robots. In an interview for the magazine Fast Company Geist states he wanted to create DIY futuristic instruments which have something new to them, and which don't reference something that already exists. The installation won the Visual Music Award 2017 and was nominated for the design price of saxonia 2018. Album “Robotic Electronic Music” (2018) In 2018 Geist released his debut Album “Robotic Electronic Music” distributed by Kompakt Distribution and produced by Andi Thoma from the band Mouse On Mars. On the 8-Track Album, Geist used only physical instruments, and it was sold with the claim of being the first techno album entirely played by robots. Collaboration In 2014, Geist started a collaboration with the electronic duo Mouse On Mars. They played together at international occasions, such as the Moog Festival or at the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg. In 2018, the Mouse on Mars Album Dimensional People was released, for which Geist built a custom made robotic music system. With this system it is possible to trigger various objects and percussion elements with MIDI. Exhibitions Since 2016, Geist has exhibited several works at museums, for example at the AIx Music exhibition at the Ars Electronica Center or at the Science Museum Milano. In 2019, Geist was nominated for the VIA/VUT Award alongside Holly Herndon, who won the title. Since 2020, Geist runs a studio also doing corporate works in Dresden, Germany

Sarah Coffey starred as Eva Shapiro in the feature film "31 Candles," and instantly made her an iconic romanic comedy character. She can also be seen in "Queens Of The Dead," which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival last year. And her viral success as a comedian led to a role in "Stapleview," the first-ever fully produced live sketch show on TikTok. On this episode, she talks about the blessings and drawbacks of finding a spotlight through her own online content. She takes us back to her early days, discovering an early love of singing, and talks about how that ties in to a knack for impressions, accents, and the melding of comedy and music. She talks about what she gleaned from people like Terry Knickerbocker and Bob Krakower, the importance of "building a muscle memory of experience," why she likes to get immediately off-book, gets us excited about her upcoming film "Mouse," and much more. Back To One is the in-depth, no-nonsense, actors-on-acting podcast from Filmmaker Magazine. In each episode, host Peter Rinaldi invites one working actor to do a deep dive into their unique process, psychology, and approach to the craft. Follow Back To One on Instagram

A nudge to apply turned into a no, then a yes, and finally a year that blended writing marathons, real‑time research, and friendships that feel like family. We sit down with McCayla to unpack how planDisney actually works: no secret databases, no cast‑member access—just rigorous accuracy, collaborative teamwork, and a love for helping guests make better memories at Disneyland, Walt Disney World, Disney Cruise Line, and beyond. We walk through the three‑round application process and talk candidly about rejection, resilience, and the mysterious “fit” of each year's cohort. She reveals why better context in your question leads to better answers, and how panelists read between the lines when the format isn't built for back‑and‑forth.Beyond the inbox, you'll hear about media‑day magic at Disneyland's 70th celebration, filming a Disney Parks piece on the new family map, and the honest reality of answering when timelines move, like the long Napa Rose closure. Manifestation in Chaos: Stability, Kindness, and the Year of the Fire Horse Learn how to use Reiki for manifestation during times of collective chaos. In this session, we explore the powerful energetic shift from the Year of the Snake to the Year of the Fire Horse and how to maintain internal stability when the world feels wobbly. We discuss the "Tree of Life" energy, the science of kindness, and how to lift your frequency above collective disturbances (egregores) to reclaim your creativity and joy. Navigating the "In-Between" We are currently in a rare overlap where the final "shedding" of the Year of the Snake meets the active arrival of the Fire Horse. This teaching explains why you may feel "blocked" and how to prioritize stability during this transition. Egregores and Collective Thought Forms An Egregore is a collective thought form created when many people focus on the same fear or worry. Learn how to use Reiki to lift your energy into higher frequencies (the 12 Heavens) to stay clear and conscious. The Pathway to Joy Manifestation requires a frequency shift. We discuss the "Chain of Activation": Notice Beauty: Find one objective point of beauty in your environment. Activate Gratitude: Allow that beauty to spark a genuine "thank you." Find Joy: Let the gratitude soften the heart and open the door to manifestation. The Power of Kindness Reflecting on the insights of Paul Stamets, we discuss how random acts of kindness are a fundamental human trait that restores stability to our greater communities and ourselves. Experience a guided Reiki and shamanic journey to anchor your internal stability. This journey is the companion to our teaching on the transition from the Year of the Snake to the Year of the Fire Horse. As we navigate collective chaos and "disturbances in the field," this journey helps you align your Divine Mind with your human presence. We travel to the Third Heaven and the Hall of Gifts and Nourishments to release ancestral cords, receive spiritual nourishment, and awaken the "Tree of Life" within you. Use this practice to clear the fog of the world, activate your inner vision, and prepare for the new beginnings of 2026. Key Spiritual Transitions in This Journey Aligning your Multiple Minds We begin by using the Mental-Emotional symbol (SHK) to align the Divine Mind with your heart mind, gut mind, and earth mind. This creates the "Authentic Intellect" needed for clear discernment during chaotic times. The Hall of Gifts & Nourishment In the enlightened realm of the Third Heaven, we enter a great cathedral of spirit. Here, you receive specific gifts of Creativity, Curiosity, and Innovation. This is where we replenish the energy spent on "stability" so you have the fuel to manifest. Completing Ancestral Cycles We utilize the Distance Symbol (HSZSN) to bridge through time, completing ancestral histories that are ready to be let go. By releasing these cords, you claim the "love of thousands" while leaving behind the burdens that no longer serve your lineage. Eagle and Mouse Vision Integration As we return to the physical realm, we practice shifting between the high-level perspective of the Eagle and the immediate, detailed focus of the Mouse. This ensures that your spiritual insights become practical, daily actions. Navigating Spiritual Stability How can I stay stable when the world feels chaotic? Stability is found by aligning your core "Tree of Life" energy. This journey guides you to connect with the deep roots of the Earth and the branches of the Heavens, allowing you to stay present and kind even when external energies are "wobbly." What are the "Living Waters of Peace"? In this journey, the River of Life represents pure consciousness and creative flow. Drinking these waters helps wash away "collective static" and corded attachments to worldly worries. Gammer Gurton’s Garland, published in 1784, is one of the earliest collections of English nursery rhymes, and contains verses both familiar and alarmingly unsettling. Intended to be read to toddlers (i.e., “children who can neither read nor run,” according to its subtitle) and named after a fictitious Grandma (“Gammer”) Gurton, who'd be analogous to Mother Goose, the volume were assembled by the eccentric scholar Joseph Ritson, who was known for his collecting of Robin Hood ballads, vegetarianism and ultimate descent into madness. Portrait of Joseph Ritson by James Sayers, early 1800s. We begin our episode with a snippet of a 1940s' rendition of “Froggy Went a-Courting” by cowboy singer Tex Ritter. It's a relatively modern take on Ritson's “The Frog and the Mouse.” But like quite a few rhymes in the collection, this one had appeared in print earlier. Already in 1611, British composer of rounds and collector of ballads, Thomas Ravenscroft, had written out both lyrics and musical notation for “The Marriage of the Frogge and the Mouse,” a song he described as a folk song or “country pastime.” While a few other rhymes in Ritson's collection were borrowed from one of two earlier editions of nursery verses (both published as Tommy Thumb’s Song Book 40 years earlier), most of what he collected appeared for tge first time in Gammer Gurton’s. We hear a bit about some of the familiar rhymes that premiered in this collection, including Goosey, Goosey Gander, Ride a Cock-Horse to Banbury Cross (with the “rings on her fingers and bells on her toes” lady), Bye, Baby Bunting, and There Was an Old Woman who Lived in a Shoe.” Ritson's version of the last, however, takes a rather rude and unexpected turn. 1865 edition of Gammer Gurton’s Many, if not most, of Ritson's rhymes seem to have been weeded out of the gentile or sentimental collections we know today. Naturally, we devote attention particularly to these objectionable verses. Included are a handful of aggressively nonsensical rhymes, which could pass for 18th-century Dada and verses notable for their cruelty. The most alarming contain brutal slurs, threats, and playful references to assault, adultery, matricide, suicide, and animals going to the gallows. The last third of our episode is dedicated to poems noteworthy for their survival as musical ballads. The first discussed is the basis for song “Lady Alice,” which later appears in James Child's 1860 collection The English and Scottish Popular Ballads. Ritson's version, “Giles Collins and Proud Lady Anna,” is a greatly simplified version of the ballad later cited by Child. While toddlers might appreciate the simpler storytelling, the subject matter — namely, doomed lovers — is not the normal stuff of healthy nursery rhymes. More surprising, is the fact that Ritson's story begins with Giles Collins in the process of dying and Lady Anna dead (of heartbreak) within a few verses. After their deaths, a tentative suggestion of undying love, a lily reaching from Giles' grave toward Anna's, is destroyed – an unhappy turn on the not uncommon motif of a rose and briar entwining over lovers' graves. We close with a discussion of “The Gay Lady who Went to Church,” an innocuous-sounding rhyme, intertwined with the history of two rather gruesome folk songs popular around Halloween: “There Was an Old Lady All Skin and Bones” and “The Hearse Song” AKA “The Worms Crawl In.” Also discussed is a surprising link between Ritson's nursery rhyme and a faux-historical ballad invented for the very first Gothic novel, Matthew Gregory Lewis' The Monk. Hare brains. Hedgehog testicles. Mouse skin. Live pigeons. Tudor remedies are famous for sounding grotesque, and ridiculous. But were they really nonsense? In this second part of A Beginner's Guide to Tudor Medicine, we explore the strangest cures of the sixteenth century, and uncover the surprising truth: some of them actually worked. You'll learn: – Why remedies were designed to move “imbalances” through the body – Which Tudor treatments are still used today – How honey, wine, moss, leeches, and maggots became modern medicine – The extraordinary 9th century eye remedy that kills MRSA Tudor healers did not have microscopes or germ theory. But they observed, tested, and remembered. And in doing so, they laid foundations we are still building on today. #TudorHistory #WeirdHistory #MedicalHistory #StrangeButTrue #HistoryFacts #TudorMedicine #OldCures #Leeches #MedievalMedicine #DidYouKnow #HistoryEducation
Eternals is a noble misfire for the MCU. Directed by winner of the 2021 Best Director Oscar, Chloe Zhao, it attempts to elevate the superhero movie genre. One problem: It's super boring. Eternals, which rambles on for an excruciating 156 minutes, never finds its footing. Plagued by bland characters and a distinct lack of charm, it is never able to distinguish itself among the sea of Marvel movies. And bad news for the House of Mouse, Eternals tepid reviews were only half the problem. Those were trumped by its lack of box office bucks. The latter has more than likely doomed these immortal warriors to the catalogue of one and dones. Now, sit back, stare into the middle distance with a Nordic Jam Lager from Two Pitchers, and put Pip in the drunk tank!
