Share a commentYou know the moment, the one where you finally have the upper hand. The text in front of us is 1 Samuel 24, and David is hiding in a cave at En Gedi while Saul hunts him with 3,000 elite soldiers. Then the impossible happens: Saul walks in alone, completely vulnerable. David's men whisper that it's destiny, that God has handed David the chance to end the threat and take what he's owed. David chooses something far harder than revenge, and his conscience won't even let him enjoy a small victory. We talk about why the same “open door” can be interpreted in totally different ways, and why a sensitive conscience is not weakness but evidence of growth in grace. David spares Saul, confronts him with truth, and entrusts judgment to God with a line that cuts through so many of our conflicts: “My hand shall not be against you.” Along the way, we unpack the painful gap between remorse vs repentance, because Saul cries, admits he's wrong, and still returns to the same unrepentant pattern. The conversation also includes a heartbreaking story of coercion and deceit under a Soviet regime and an astonishing act of forgiveness that reframes what Christian forgiveness can look like when the damage is real. If you're wrestling with injustice, gossip, betrayal, or that urge to “settle the score,” this is a practical, searching look at refusing retaliation, trusting God with vindication, and letting the grace of Jesus Christ shape your next move. Share a commentOne moment. Two completely different conclusions about what “God's will” must be. That's the tension we sit in as we follow David's flight from Saul through 1 Samuel 23 and 24, where the chase feels nonstop, the accusations are unfair, and the danger is real. If you've ever felt hunted at work, misjudged by family, or punished for doing the right thing, David's story meets you right where you are, not with slogans, but with a gritty, lived-in faith. We walk through David's decision to rescue Keilah even while he's a fugitive, only to be betrayed by the very people he helps. We also highlight Jonathan's visit in the wilderness of Ziph, where he says the quiet part out loud: Saul knows David will be king, and that fear fuels the obsession. The pressure builds until David is nearly cornered, then providentially spared, leaving him with a new landmark and a new name for God's rescue. Then everything slows down in Engedi. Saul steps into a cave, unaware David and his men are watching, and David is handed what looks like the perfect chance for revenge. We talk about conscience, restraint, and biblical leadership, and why “open doors” are not the same thing as moral permission. David chooses mercy, confronts Saul with proof, and for a brief moment even the king breaks down and admits the truth. If this challenged you, subscribe for more Bible teaching that connects Scripture to real life, share the episode with a friend who needs perspective under pressure, and leave a review so more people can find the show. I interviewed Nicolas Bourniquel about The Sad Story of the Little Mouse Who Wanted to Become Somebody on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at Venice Immersive in Venice, Italy. Here is the story synopsis for The Sad Story of the Little Mouse Who Wanted to Become Somebody: "Once upon a time, there was a little mouse who worked relentlessly to achieve a single goal: becoming somebody. Driven solely by her ambition, she slowly grew mean and arrogant, pushing everyone away. One day, she accepted a job offer from the most prolific toymaker in the world: Santa Claus. The little mouse was about to discover that climbing the corporate ladder was not all she had hoped it would be… La triste histoire de la petite souris qui voulait absolument devenir quelqu'un is a biting satire of corporate life in the form of a VR Christmas tale." Here are the contextual domains that are explored: From humble creative workshop [5] at home [4] to express her identity [1] through social media [3], but then becomes completely invisible [12]. Then a transition into the other worldly character of Santa's workshop [9], which becomes a professional workplace that is highly industrialized and automated [10] turning the creative work into a slog of manual tasks devoid of too much creativity or autonomy [6] work that translates into a bit of a situation of slavery [12] Here is the Elemental Center of Gravity: 1st Center of Gravity of Emotional Presence: Narrative-driven, immersive animation. This very much a character-driven story2nd Center of Gravity of Earth Element / Environmental and Embodied Presence: Very detailed world that you enter into. Colorectal cancer does not develop in isolation. Cancer cells exist within a complex tumor microenvironment made up of fibroblasts, immune cells, blood vessels, and extracellular matrix. Increasing evidence suggests that these surrounding cells and structures can influence whether tumors grow, regress, or evade the immune system. A research paper published in Volume 17 of Oncotarget, titled “Microenvironmental CTHRC1 has a pro-tumorigenic role in colorectal cancer,” investigated the role of collagen triple helix repeat containing 1 (CTHRC1), a secreted protein found in cancer-associated stroma. He thought Disneyland would disappoint him. Instead, it cracked something open and gave him a childhood moment he didn't know he was still missing. We're joined by our friend David, a Broadway composer and musical theater storyteller, to talk about his latest trip to Hong Kong Disneyland and why this smaller Disney park can hit just as hard as the giants. We get into what it's like arriving via the Disneyland Resort Line, exploring a park with shockingly short wait times, and stumbling into experiences that leave even a theater pro completely wrecked in the best way. From the Frozen area to a Lion King show with unreal sound and staging, David breaks down the details that make Hong Kong Disneyland feel intimate, curated, and emotionally direct. Then we zoom out into international Disney travel and compare Hong Kong with Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea. We talk practical tips like transit, hotel strategy, and why internet access can make or break your day, plus the intense process of getting into Fantasy Springs back when it first opened (it's better now - we promise!). If you've ever wondered what U.S. Disney fans are missing overseas, wait until you hear David's take on the Fantasy Springs Peter Pan ride.We also have a real conversation about accessibility at Disney parks, including how health needs affect queueing and pacing, and why consistency matters for guests who truly need accommodations. If you love Disney park reviews, Disney trip planning, and the deeper “why does this place feel like this” side of Disney, you'll want this one. Not every colony survives—and sometimes the best lesson comes from the colonies that don't. This week on Honey Bee Obscura, Jim Tew provides tiny hives update for the listeners and decribes how they're progressing as July draws to a close. One of those colonies belongs to his longtime colleague, Sherry, who rescued a very small swarm earlier in the season. Unfortunately, what Jim finds is a sobering reminder that small, late-season colonies often face overwhelming odds. Mouse activity, almost no flight at the entrance, and the realities of midsummer dearth all point toward a colony that simply never gained enough strength. Back at his own apiary, Jim examines two similarly small "after swarms" (often called secondary swarms) and reflects on why these tiny colonies form in the first place. He discusses virgin queens, delayed brood production, the challenges of building population late in the season, and why even experienced beekeepers still have unanswered questions about swarm biology. Along the way, Jim shares a memorable story of a forgotten nucleus colony that unexpectedly survived an entire Ohio winter, reminding us that honey bees occasionally defy our expectations. The episode concludes with reflections on knowing when not to disturb healthy colonies during summer dearth, accepting that natural losses are part of beekeeping, and embracing the continual learning that keeps even veteran beekeepers curious after decades in the bee yard. ______________________ Thanks to Betterbee for sponsoring today's episode. Jenny Horne details the company's Parks business revenue as a possible wind behind the stock's lift. Elsewhere, Uber (UBER) share took a sharp turn downward. 1546- a year which saw the full tyranny of Henry VIII bloom across London; when the city was not being forced to buy tonnes of surplus wheat from the King; when it was not celebrating the end of the War with France; and when it was not almost burning the wives of cattle barons… it was dealing with a great many things. One of these was the closure of its legal red light district over on Bankside, an event which actually caused the spread of illegal sex trade; but it also witnessed a wild year wherein the 6th wife of Henry VIII came within an inch of being arrested for heresy, and an amazing, and bold woman called Anne Askew found herself suffering a horrendous death upon Smithfield. Welcome to the last full year of the life of Henry VIII- it alls it gory detail.Cover features Portrait of Anne Askew by Hans Eworth (1560)

Today we're doing a throwback episode to one of our favorites from the early days of Stories Podcast. The Mouse Tower! The Archbishop Hatto II thinks he's very clever when he gathers up all the wheat and bread in Germany and charges everyone lots of money to buy it back. But what will happen when he can't ignore the calls of the hungry citizens outside of his gates? Check out Stories RPG our new show where we play games like Starsworn with all your Max Goodname friends, and Gigacity Guardians featuring the brilliant firefly! https://link.chtbl.com/gigacity Draw us a picture of what you think any of the characters in this story look like, and then tag us in it on instagram @storiespodcast!
