Most people finish writing a thesis and head towards tequila, Kinga Jentetics turned to self-publication instead. Realising she could put her work out there without a third party, Kinga wondered why other writers were left waiting? PublishDrive was created in 2014 as an act of creative autonomy, allowing authors to distribute their work without having to push for it to live outside their own pages. In this interview, Kinga explains how she got her start, the biggest failure of her career and why she refused to work for corporations and instead pursue her idea.Follow along:Connect with Kinga on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/kingajentetics/ - Learn more about PublishDrive: https://www.publishdrive.com - Read The Peers Project's Marie Claire feature: https://www.marieclaire.com.au/the-peers-project -Connect with Michelle on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/michakhidenor/ See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

2020--what a year! And we're halfway through it. More people are on their phones than ever, more people are reading than ever, and stories are moving hearts and minds. So what does that mean for authors? Let's talk about it. Tonight, Kinga joins us to talk book sales numbers--across genres, platforms, and global markets. We'll talk about the markets that are expanding, speculate as to why, and look forward to the second half of 2020. What steps should we be taking to take over the publishing world? *** This week’s spotlight is on The Writing Dream: and How to Make it to Happily Ever After by Lauren Moore, Josh Hayes, and Scott Moon Writing.  Something you've always dreamed of doing, but there's just not enough time.  Or maybe you've already written a book (or six) but they aren't doing well.  With nearly fifty million books on Amazon today, what can you do to make your book stand out?  From the popular podcast, Keystroke Medium Live, Josh Hayes, Scott Moon, and Lauren Moore pan the gold from hundreds of author interviews. PublishDrive is an ebook aggregator that serves self-publishers and small presses. The company is based in New York City and Budapest, Hungary. Kinga Jentetics is co-founder and CEO of the company, which competes favorably with other aggregators in distribution, royalties, reporting, analytics, and an easy-to-use author-publisher interface.   PublishDrive made a recent deal with Chinese e-commerce giant Dangdang to sell English-language ebooks, which gives your ebook access to a readership with enormous growth. We discuss the Chinese market and other emerging markets for English-language ebooks, which I think you'll find enlightening and may cause you to aim to toward growing your platform in those directions. The company makes use of new tech like artificial intelligence (AI) to inspect your book for formatting errors and copyright infringements and this also includes review by one of their staff for a quality end product. We also talk about other partnerships with online retailers, marketing and merchandising tools, and how featured books are chosen.  Jentetics got the idea for the company as she struggled to publish her master's thesis on how music influences the perception of a country. She gathered together a tech team and has grown the platform with the help of a Google Developers launchpad grant. Visit the Author Friendly Podcast for links and show notes.

An eBook aggregator service takes your eBook and submits it to multiple eBook stores, such as Apple, Nook and Kobo. The reason why these services are useful is it means you don't have to manage several different system dashboards and in some cases it allows you to get into stores where there isn't even a direct route for self-publishers into that store (for example Google Play). I must admit that I thought Smashwords and Draft2Digital were the only major eBook aggregator companies, but after joining the International Indie Authors Facebook group, I heard about a whole host of new and international companies, primarily PublishDrive, Streetlib and Pronoun. I've decided to try and get representatives from these companies on to the show to learn a bit more about them. This week I talk to Kinga Jentetics from PublishDrive.
