The third episode of the Cities and Geopolitics series explores the spatial and operational logics of circulation, examining how the movement of goods, capital, data, and people is organised, accelerated, and contested across urban and regional space. Our guests discuss how circulation has become a central terrain of geopolitical strategy, focusing on a range of infrastructures, from economic corridors and port expansions to special economic zones, rail networks, and digital logistics platforms. The episode highlights how circulatory systems are not only designed to facilitate flows, but also to direct, channel, and control them, reconfiguring territories, reshaping urban hierarchies, and producing new forms of inclusion and exclusion. The conversation traces how the control of corridors and logistical infrastructures materialises geopolitical ambitions in highly uneven ways, often generating fragmentation, dispossession, and environmental transformation along their routes. Cities emerge here not simply as nodes within global networks, but as sites where the frictions of circulation are negotiated, where congestion, labour struggles, infrastructural bottlenecks, and regulatory regimes reveal the limits and contradictions of seamless flow. At the same time, the episode attends to the lived and situated dimensions of logistics, showing how everyday practices rework infrastructural spaces. This episode invites listeners to rethink geopolitics through the lens of movement and mobility, highlighting how the governance of flows has become central to the organisation of global power, and how urban space is continuously remade through the infrastructures, and frictions of circulation.

We just bumped up our podcast library overnight!  Today's episode is a summary, about the 5 location-specific episodes we added into the My Life As A Landlord Library, which are LIVE NOW.  The summary today features our last Canadian Territory, Northwest Territory, the Australian State of New South Wales, and Three US States:  Virginia, Connecticut, Massachusetts,  For each of these locations, there is an entire podcast dedicated to each State or Province.  In each one we explore the overview of the housing guiding document for each location, answering the same four questions:  1) What are the basics of the State or Province or Territories' Tenancy or Housing Document, 2) What are the nuances of this location – what is different that stands out?, 3) Some guidance about abandoned items left behind by a tenant in a rental in each State or Province, and 4) Where to get help in your local area in that State or Province.  As I answer these questions, you'll see me screen share all kinds of documents specific to that location, as well as check off items on my bingo card to see what each location has, what they don't, and what is different.  Today's episode is NOT all inclusive for any of these locations, mind you – you must research further in your specific area including your County, Regional District, Parish, City or any other Governing Body that involves your rental location, but today's summary episode will get you started!

The film has recently been restored in 4K and is about to be released in a special edition box set courtesy of Arrow Video.Starring Chow Yun Fat and Tony Leung, Hard Boiled tells of a hard drinking Hong Kong cop Yuen (aka Tequila) and his investigation into a violent arms smuggling ring.Joining Pasquale to discuss the film is Dr Lin Feng. Lin is Associate Professor in Film Studies at the University of Leicester. She specialises in Chinese-language cinemas, East Asian film history and her other interests include transnational popular screen cultures, and cinematic representation and reception of gender and race. Lin's monograph Chow Yun Fat and the Territories of Hong Kong Stardom was published by Edinburgh University Press in 2017, while her co-edited collection Renegotiating Film Genres in East Asian Cinemas and Beyond came out in 2020 via Palgrave MacMillan. Lin has also contributed a video interview to the upcoming Hard Boiled Blu-ray release.Lin and Pasquale talk about the landscape of Hong Kong cinema in the 80s and 90s, the career of director John Woo as well as the star image of actor Chow Yun Fat. The number of law enforcement professionals nationwide who died on duty in 2025 decreased 25 percent compared to the same time period in 2024, according to preliminary data provided by the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund (NLEOMF). The NLEOMF data shows that 111 federal, state, county, municipal, and U.S. Territories officers died in the line of duty in 2025, compared to the 148 officers who died in 2024. The 111 line-of-duty deaths in 2025 represents a near-historic low. On February 16, a group of Palestinian footballers and Palestinian clubs joined with others to file a complaint with the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court. They are accusing the Presidents of FIFA, and Union of European Football Associations, UEFA, of aiding in war crimes and crimes against humanity in the occupied Palestinian territory.
