Kyle Carreau (Partner Enablement Engineer) sits down with Philip Bard (Principal Product Experience Specialist) to discuss having the coolest job at PTC. Philip has the pleasure of working next to the Customer Experience Center team to build the extravagant demos that you see touring the center, as well as building demos for the LiveWorx events. The pair talk about what it’s like to have access to some unique resources sent to Philip’s home (laser cutters, Volvo truck engines) and how it has built an awkward relationship with his postman. Additionally, Philip gives some insight into some exciting things coming to the CXC, as well as the origins of the now famous “Motor Demo”.
While many knowledge workers have quickly adapted to remote work thanks to video and teleconferencing, that’s not usually a feasible option for frontline workers such as those in factories. Jim Heppelmann, CEO of PTC, discusses how technologies like augmented and virtual reality, IoT, and software as a service are making digital collaboration possible for workers who typically need to be onsite. PTC aims to be at the forefront of these digital innovations through solutions such as Vuforia Chalk and their new Reality Lab. He also discusses how the company is pivoting their marquee industrial event, LiveWorx, to a one-day virtual conference, and shares insight into what’s top of mind for CEOs navigating a post-coronavirus world.

At this year's LiveWorx '17 technology conference, PTC President and CEO Jim Heppelmann in his keynote speech explained that while IoT and AR are necessities to one another, CAD and PLM are the real “match makers” that fuse them together before going on to declare that "IoT is PLM." What exactly does this mean though? What better way to find out then tuning in to the final part of this episode where Steve Dertien, Senior Vice President, Technology at PTC will run us through use cases in areas such as product development and how PTC's PLM technology is driving transformative change for businesses today. At the day one LiveWorx keynotes, Internet of Things security was an overlooked topic. Jon set about to correct that by sitting down with Volker Gerstenberger and Tomi Ronkainen of Giesecke & Devrient, a firm with a deep history of security everything from bank notes to, now, the IoT. The guys talk about the thorny security issues raised by IoT, and how they can be addressed during the design process. Autonomous/smart cars are one hacking controversy the guys cover. They also discuss the tensions between airtight security and great UX, and what they tell end customers about security preparedness. Yes, you can get Busting the Omnichannel on iTunes.
