On a Sunday afternoon, I sat down with my semi-regular co-host Marcus "Showinmadlov" Robinson so we could complete our quest to discuss the anniversaries of two more Jigga albums! As we continue on, Marcus and I cover Jay-Z's 1996 debut Reasonable Doubt and his 2001 LP The Blueprint. What was the best Biggie/Jay-Z collaboration? OG U Don't Know or the remix? Was Can I Live II or Jigga That N*gg* really necessary? And which one of us hated Jay-Z before changing their mind? Recommendations: Reasonable Doubt, The Blueprint. Backstage. Fade To Black. Can't Knock The Hustle (Fool's Paradise Remix). --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/hyphen-nation/support
In this week's episode of THE BARACK OBAMA APPROVED WORLD'S GREATEST PODCAST, I've found a gem of a conversation featuring Gawd's Favorite, Marcus "Showinmadlov" Robinson! After we recorded Episode #173, the mic was still on and we had more to say. We talk about my exploits into the streaming world, our monthly HPG conference call that Marcus runs, our disinterest in the NFL, Common, Wale, Freddie Gibbs, and more! Plus, a sobering intro when I rediscover an old email from my dad. Recommendations: Freddie Gibbs - Piñata, Bandana & Alfredo. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/hyphen-nation/support
Marcus ShowinmadLov Robinson is the next entrant into the Rasslecast Power Hour guest chair on Royal Rumble eve! B Hyphen tries to keep his cool! Handsome Bane wages war on the Attitude Era! ShowinmadLov encourages an unwanted visitor! THE GAUNTLET is thrown down and we get into some of our favorite wrestling video games! Somebody help Bane find his booze, STAT! Artwork by @nolanium.
So long time listeners of Hyphen Nation knows what happens when I get into a funk and don't want to do anything podcast related. My semi-regular co-host Marcus "Showinmadlov" Robinson appears to save the day. I'm serious. Marcus noticed a new book hitting shelves called The Victory Machine: The Making and Unmaking of the Warriors Dynasty by Ethan Sherwood Strauss and sequestered myself and now 5-Time Guest Club member George "The Howitzer" Gerbo to read and write reports. Then he made us throw away our reports and share our feelings off the top. Chapters 1 and 2 are covered here; we'll be taking on Chapters 3-5 in a future episode! This episode was brought to you by Game 3 of the 2018 NBA Finals. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/hyphen-nation/support
As promised, George Gerbo is back on the show (also the newest member of the Three Timers Club)! And my semi-regular co-host Marcus "Showinmadlov" Robinson as well. We discuss 2010-2019 in the sports including our favorite teams, favorite villains, biggest blunders, overrated blanks, and much more! There's great takes, good takes, hot takes, and Derrick Rose takes and I would assume you don't need much more incentive than that. This episode was brought to you by the 2019 Fiesta Bowl. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/hyphen-nation/support
In an unplanned happy accident, this is THE WORLD'S GREATEST PODCAST episode all about the TWENTY SECOND (I think I said 21st in the episode) entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Avengers: Endgame. The happy accident part is the fact that it's now available digitally. Along with me for the ride is Episode #10, #11, and #48's Errick "Handsome Bane" Greenlee, Episode #70's Anthony "Triple S" Sellers, Episode #88's George "The Howitzer" Gerbo, and our moderator, Marcus "Showinmadlov" Robinson. We cover everything we can about Endgame but it's so massive, I can't help but feel we missed something. Regardless, welcome to the the biggest panel of guests in Hyphen Nation history. Shout out to Lam who was too sick to join us. We love you 3000! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/hyphen-nation/support
I'm back after a traumatic week that made me miss an episode (I go into that). This episode I welcome back the return of HPG alum and friend of the show, Marcus "Showinmadlov" Robinson, as we got together to review another Three 6 Mafia...related album/mixtape. In 2013, DJ Paul got together the rest of Three 6 Mafia (with the exception of Juicy J) to form Da Mafia 6ix and release the project "6ix Commandments". It would be the first and sadly last time all 6 legendary members would be on the same album together since their classic 2000 album, When The Smoke Clears (which me & Marcus already reviewed together). Hear me and Marcus' talk about the project along with other tales (such as how I chickened out on a show I still regret) and more. Apologies for the poor audio quality on my end during our conversation. Didn't realize the issue until during the editing process. We got another special episode this week. As some may know, I normally do my The Catch-Up segment as part of the episodes. But this week I was joined by HPG's very own Marcus "ShowinmadLov" Robinson to talk about Three 6 Mafia and their classic album, When The Smoke Clears: Sixty 6, Sixty 1. Me and Marcus had a good one just talking about DMV upbringings, Three 6's albums, the Hypnotize Minds catalog and more. So sit back and enjoy this episode as we dig into the album for this very special The Catch-Up/Three 6 Mafia themed episode (YEAH HOE!) Continuing the conversation from Episode 7, Lane and Marcus “ShowinmadLov” Robinson give you another 90 minutes of fire! Topics include: * A spirited discussion on if Kawhi Leonard has the intestinal fortitude to sit out his contract year to get to LA * If LeBron alone instantly makes the Lakers playoff contenders * If fan interest is waning after the NFL’s rule changes to stop protesting * Some fun NFL over/under predictions * And Super Bowl picks! Kelen made Lane and Marcus sound like the stars they are! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/lemon-on-the-edge/support
Lane is joined by semi-regular co-host of the Hyphen Nation podcast, Marcus “ShowinmadLov” Robinson! Topics include: If the NBA is better with or without the Warriors Jalen Ramsey ranks the quarterbacks Kirk Cousins: Great, Average, or Bad? Kelen made the audio crispy! The rest of this conversation can be heard on Episode 8. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/lemon-on-the-edge/support
Go ahead and throw out your lil’ tributes. Your lil’ think pieces. Your lil’ hot takes. None will come close. On this episode of Hyphen Nation, Marcus “ShowinmadLov” Robinson and I celebrate the 10 year anniversary of 2008’s The Dark Knight. Nolan. Bale. Ledger. Gyllenhaal. Eckhart. Caine. Freeman. Deebo. We even let Oldman in. Revisit a classic with us as we breakdown the second film in Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy through ShowinmadLov’s brilliant questioning. Hell, turn it on and listen. Watch out for best Batman hot takes and there’s even some Ant-Man & The Wasp talk for you dedicated listeners at the end. This is still the best comic book movie of all-time. Leave no doubt. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/hyphen-nation/support
Pusha T released a scathing diss towards Drake on May 29, accusing him of not only ghostwriting, but having a secret child that he doesn’t want to take care of. Push also made time to tell Drake’s friend/producer to go ahead and die from multiple sclerosis. Oh yeah. Drake apparently took some photos in blackface about 10 years ago. I called up Marcus for this emergency pod so that we could put together all of our first reactions about “The Story Of Adidon” and where we’re going from here. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/hyphen-nation/support
On April 9th, I made the artwork for this episode and sent it to Marcus. As I wanted it to come out a week before Avengers: Infinity War, I knew this episode was coming out on April 20th. What I didn’t know is if I could hold myself to the numbering, as I had five full episodes that needed recorded to get to this episode you now have in your podcast listening device.11 days later, 5 episodes later, Marcus and I talk all about the Iron Man films, the MCU, and what we expect out of Infinity War. Challenge completed. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/hyphen-nation/support
A random Marcus Robinson appears. The NBA season is dissected at its halfway point. Marcus and Kelen both agree half of the 2017-18 NBA season was better than the entire 2017 NFL season. Kelen celebrates the oddly successful tank in Chicago while Marcus laments about his Wizards chances of surviving the second round of the playoffs. Hot a** takes are thrown around by Kelen. Chris Paul and his greatness is questioned at great length. MVP and NBA Finals predictions are made. Wakanda rises. The Black Panther motion picture is exalted on high. MVPs are chosen, the women of Black Panther steal the show, and theories are thrown out for future films and the location of the Infinity Stone. Did the MCU miss their window with Black Widow? When does the MCU finally miss with a movie? Is Venom doomed to fail? And can Paul Rudd bring ‘em out again with Wasp & Ant-Man? I support West Virginia’s teachers! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/hyphen-nation/support
It's Like A Podcast Or Whatever's Errick "Handsome Bane" Greenlee and Michael Lamerique host. Marcus "ShowinmadLov" Robinson is without a kid but allowed to join. Disney as a brand and an empire is discussed. Prince Eric's legacy is mentioned. Kelen makes a choice that Michael does not agree with. Marcus reminisces of the Blob. The second podcast crossover for the Hyphen Podcast Group happens. Men are trash is recited often. Hills are alive with a sound. Barack Obama is mentioned. Disney is discussed in between tangents. Kelen draws the ire of the hosts and guest with an ill-timed movie quote. LEAVE MARCUS WILLIAMS ALONE. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/hyphen-nation/support
2017 was a better year than 2016 was. Or was it? Marcus “Showinmadlov” Robinson again demanded his time on THE WORLD’S GREATEST PODCAST and came equipped with a list of topics, ranging from our favorite artist to the most overrated thing of 2017. We spend roughly three hours talking and we somehow got into a 20+ minute tangent on Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s movie career, what huge mistake Eminem made this year, why the nostalgia of the past is a gift and curse for entertainment, and even speculated into what 2018 would bring. There’s lots of laughs, tears, and audio side eyes as we make our way through the topics but no stone is left unturned. We also take time to acknowledge the passing of Reggie “Combat Jack” Osse on December 20th. WVU football continues to reign as the trashiest of the trash! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/hyphen-nation/support
In an episode that had to happen, THE WORLD'S GREATEST PODCAST tackles what has now come to be known as 4:44, Jay-Z’s latest album. Joining me for the ride once again is Marcus “ShowinmadLov” Robinson as we break down the road Jay took to get to this album and pretty much review it track-by-track. Is it a classic on the level of Reasonable Doubt and The Blueprint? Or did Hov throw Tidal fueled bricks a la Kingdom Come? I also offer a very special apology to someone who I've trashed pretty heavily throughout the first 34 episodes of the show. After our lengthy review, we give our spoiler free thoughts on Spider-Man: Homecoming, talk about the hopes of the NBA's Eastern Conference going into next season, and then find out that a Jay-Z song exists called Hyphen Hater. So who's ready for the next Memphis Bleek album?! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/hyphen-nation/support
I took to Twitter to defend the honor of Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp A Butterfly recently. I was told in no uncertain terms that the gentleman who I defended TPAB against was coming to discuss this issue at length on THE WORLD’S GREATEST PODCAST. That gentleman happened to be Marcus ShowinmadLov Robinson, sponsor of the show through his own website themarcrob dot wordpress dot com, so I was more than happy to oblige. He brought beer. We started talking. We eventually got down to our sides of the TPAB/DAMN. argument. We delved into the Drake side of things at length. There may be long musical interludes. We spent the first hour talking about a whole list of topics. When I signed off, we had a two hour podcast. Should I break it up? NAH. We live baby. I proudly give you the Charles Barkley episode of Hyphen Nation. SC6 is a disappointment. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/hyphen-nation/support
