Christian Zyp interviews Ryan Prows (director/writer) and Tim Cairo (writer) about their film NIGHT PATROL. See the Canadian Premiere at the Metro Cinema on Saturday May 23rd at 6:30pm. Ryan & Tim as well as screenwriters Jake Gibson and Shaye Ogbonna will be in attendance for a post-screening Q&A.NIGHT PATROL is a 2025 American horror thriller film starring Jermaine Fowler, Justin Long, Freddie Gibbs, RJ Cyler, YG, Nicki Micheaux, Flying Lotus, Phil Brooks, and Dermot Mulroney. It's a cop corruption thriller that's also a vampire movie focusing on four characters. Ethan Hawkins (Justin Long), the son of a legendary LAPD cop (Dermot Mulroney), who wants to join The Night Patrol, an unofficial, secretive, elite unit within the department that's essentially a vampire street gang with badges and uniforms. Ethan's partner, Xavier Carr (Jermaine Fowler), is a Black patrolman who used to be a member of the Crips gang and hopes to rise through the ranks of the police and become somebody who gives orders as well as takes them. Xavier's brother, Wazi Carr (RJ Cyler), is a Crips-affiliated petty criminal who sleeps on a bare mattress at his mama's house. He's in shock over secretly witnessing an LAPD officer murdering someone close to him, and fears a Night Patrol member will kill him to prevent him from testifying about what he saw.Stream NIGHT PATROL on Shudder.

Spring shows up and suddenly the release calendar explodes, so Matt and Sam do what we always do on Super Awesome Mix: sift through the chaos and hand you a March new music playlist that's actually worth your time. We start with U2's “Yours Eternally,” a collaboration that pulls in Ed Sheeran and Ukrainian artist Taras Topolia and frames a protest minded moment with an unexpectedly hopeful finish. From there we jump into Death Cab for Cutie's “Riptides,” a track that captures modern burnout in one chorus, then test the line between country and pop with Megan Moroney and Sheeran. The mix keeps pivoting: Charlotte Sands brings a hard rock jolt, King Tuff turns time into a hook you'll quote all week, and Blackpink proves again how effortlessly K-pop can play as mainstream pop and hip hop.On the rap and rock side, we dig into Killer Mike's soundtrack cut and the idea that honesty beats a friendly facade, then crank up The Pretty Reckless, Freddie Gibbs with DJ Paul (adult ears only), and Sevendust's “Unbreakable” for anyone who needs a little volume to get through the day. We close with Bleachers pushing back against outside noise and a Mumford and Sons collaboration with Chris Stapleton that somehow feels both simple and huge.https://music.apple.com/us/playlist/sam-march-2026-new-music/pl.u-z2pvuGxoYJ1. Like many people, I love the well-produced 'live in studio' videos musicians and artists have done over the past decade or so, especially the ongoing series from NPR's Tiny Desk and KEXP's studio sessions. There's also other great performances that mostly are available only in the depths of YouTube, though it seems like some artists are finally realizing they could press these on vinyl or release them separately as well. Here's a few of my favorites over the years that I've been rocking to now and then but figured I'd throw into a mix. Salute to all these amazing folks - like Scarface says, there's something about great music man!! Mats Nileskär intervjuar även Peanut Butter Wolf, MF Doom, Freddie Gibbs, Cut Chemist, DJ Shadow, Oh No, Dudley Perkins, Georgia Anne Muldrow, Dur-Dur Band, Ata Kak och Large Professor.
In the 3rd hour of the show, Laurence Holmes & Matt Spiegel were joined by Grammy Award winning emcee & die-hard Bears fan Freddie Gibbs who shared his experience with all the stars at Soldier Field Saturday.

“Bust Down” is single-camera sitcom created by and starring Langston Kerman, Jak Knight, Chris Redd, and Sam Jay that premiered on Peacock in 2022. It centers on four friends who work low-wage jobs at a casino in Gary, Indiana. The show leans heavily into raunchy humor and over-the-top scenarios, with the creators noting they wanted it to be “raunchy, irreverent, and complicated". Critics generally responded positively and praised Bust Down's bold comic voice and willingness to push boundaries. Sadly, months after the show's release, Jak Knight passed away. It's unclear if this factored into the end of the show. Bust Down now exists as a 6 episode show that may have never realized it's full potential and floats on various streamers. How did the S1E1 boys feel about the show? Listen as they deep dive the pilot episode, "Bad Hang". Starring: Chris Redd, Sam Jay, Langston Kerman, Jak Knight, DomiNque Perry, Freddie Gibbs, John Douglas, & Dan Bakkedahl www.S1E1POD.com Instagram & X (Twitter): @S1E1POD
