Greetings Glocal Citizens! This week on the podcast community builidng is a central theme. For twenty years, my guest, Bakajika Tshinanga, has operated at the exact intersection where culture generates economic value. His journey started in 2004, when he founded a student-led program at the University of Georgia Atlanta. Georgia Daze still runs today and has improved enrollment yield conservatively valued at $150M+ in incremental revenue for the university. That experience shaped how he thinks about infrastructure: who builds it, who benefits, and who owns the upside. He went on building hospitality programming delivering the cultural insight that prompted AT&T to sponsor Drake's inaugural headline tour and leading the campaign that introduced the Lyft ridesahre app to Atlanta. He's produced work with cultural figures including Michael Jordan, and while an undergraduate he producing concerts featuring Outkast, Lauryn Hill, and Dave Chappelle. Also of note, he owns a publishing catalog featuring songs from Lil Wayne, The Neptunes, Sevyn Streeter, Pusha T, and Usher. Coding since age 11, technology is lens he's always looking through. His latest endeavor, the lOlŌ's platform is the direct expression of technology deployed as infrastructure to close the gap between who creates cultural value and who captures it. He's lived the innovator's dilemma firsthand: operating at the riskiest part of the curve, where the work is undeniable but the capital isn't designed to find you. That experience is why lOlŌ exists—a collective ownership vehicle for cultural capital, community-capitalized, community-governed, designed to compound for generations. Where to fine Bakajika? This week in hip-hop was nothing short of a thriller. The biggest story dominating the culture is the Pooh Shiesty and Gucci Mane situation — Shiesty and eight others were arrested in Memphis for allegedly robbing and kidnapping Gucci Mane, reportedly forcing him at gunpoint to sign a release from his recording contract. Gucci responded by dropping the diss track “Crash Dummy,” igniting reactions from Waka Flocka, Moneybagg Yo, 6ix9ine, and the Joe Budden Podcast. The whole rap internet has an opinion. The culture also mourned the loss of Afrika Bambaataa, one of hip-hop's founding fathers, who passed away at 68. On the awards front, Kendrick Lamar had a dominant Grammy night — sweeping rap categories with GNX, “Luther,” and “TV Off,” while Tyler, the Creator took home Best Album Cover for Chromakopia. Drake's ICEMAN is still MIA despite producer OZ's reassurances, and Pusha T is now facing the very ghostwriting allegations he once weaponized against Drake — the irony is loud. Remy Ma made noise dropping a diss aimed at both Papoose and Claressa Shields on her new single “W.Y.F.L.”
Hosts: Jill Winkowski and Prue SalaskyDate: April 10, 2026Length: 37 minutesPublication Frequency: Fourth Friday (approx) of each monthIn this episode we explore African American English, its history, features, and variations, including in Hampton Roads, aka the 757. We interview three black academics in the region to learn about AAE and what defines it. We talk to Dr. Iyabo Osiapem, teaching professor of Africana Studies and Linguistics at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg. Founded in 1693, It's the only university in the state to offer an undergraduate major in linguistics. At Hampton University in Hampton, the city where the first African indentured servants and slaves arrived in North America in 1619, we speak to Dr. Darylyn Dance, a specialist in rhetoric and composition. We also talk to Dr. Travis Harris, a hip hop scholar who teaches at Norfolk State University in Norfolk. From them we learned about the distinctive syntactical and pronunciation features of the AAE dialect; various theories of its development, including from West African languages; some distinctive local vocabulary; the influence of hip hop in its evolution; and its controversial history related to education, including the 1979 Ann Arbor case and the 1997 Oakland decision. We learn about its labels over the years, including “non-standard Negro English” used by white linguist William Labov, “the father of sociolinguistics,” who pioneered research into AAE in the 1960s, We learn about the work of African American linguist John Baugh in exposing linguistic profiling and the development of the ebonics label by educational psychologist Robert Williams, inventor of the BITCH test which highlighted cultural bias in standardized testing. Finally, we discuss attitudes to language variation. Here are some of the books and authors the three professors recommended for AAE: Olaudah Equiano (18th century)(enslaved, freed, went to UK) slave narratives, letters, poems;essayist and journalist Charles Chesnutt (turn of the 20th century) The Goophered Grapevine;Poetry by Frances Ellen Watkins (19th century); by Paul Laurence Dunbar (19th century); by Countee Cullen (early 20th century); by Langston Hughes (20th century); George Schuyler journalist, columnist, critic (20th century); Phyllis Wheatley, born in Africa, writing in second language; Imami All Mine by Connie Porter (This American Girl series); Zora Neale Hurston, Their Eyes are Watching God; Alice Childress, Rainbow Jordan; The Color Purple by Alice Walker; Dutchman (1964 play) by Amiri Baraka; Sonia Sanchez (20th century) poet, playwright, professor; Maya Angelou; Toni Morrison;Gil Scott-Heron, “The Revolution will not be Televised” (“godfather of rap”); academic articles by Vershawn Ashanti Young (contemporary); Bernice McFadden, “Sugar” (2000)For those interested in hip-hop, the W&M Hip Hop Collection, started in the 1980s, is part of Swem Library's Special Collections and includes recordings, publications, and ephemera from Virginia based hip hop artists. Join Here: https://ow.ly/msoH50WCu0KAnalytic Dreamz examines the escalating T.I. vs. 50 Cent feud in this segment, focusing on Domani Harris' bold entry with his February 26, 2026 diss track "Ms. Jackson." The 24-year-old son of T.I. flips OutKast's 2000 classic into a direct address to 50 Cent's late mother, Sabrina Jackson (who died in a fire in 1983), questioning her pride in her son's actions, legacy, treatment of women, and family name.Lyrics highlight lines like “Am I overreacting or is it valid? / I wanna have a one-on-one convo about / The man you sacrificed your life for…” and threats implying “one more will ring the bell,” plus offers to “send him to you, Ms. Jackson.” The visualizer/cover art features a house on fire, evoking historical tragedy. Released via YouTube and socials, it draws comparisons to Kendrick Lamar-style surgical disses. The beef reignited over a proposed Verzuz battle that 50 backed out of, leading to 50 posting unflattering photos of Tiny Harris. T.I. fired back with multiple diss tracks (including "War," "The Right One," "What Bully," and others—totaling several in recent weeks), while younger son King Harris dropped two responses. Domani's track marks the family's seventh collective shot, turning professional tension into deeply personal family defense.Analytic Dreamz contextualizes this within hip-hop's history of notorious beefs—Nas vs. Jay-Z, Drake vs. Pusha T, Tupac vs. Biggie, and more—where family and legacy often become targets. It explores escalation patterns, accountability themes, and industry implications as the Harris family unites musically against 50's social media trolling.Tune in for the full unfiltered breakdown on Analytic Dreamz—hip-hop beef analysis and culture impact.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/analytic-dreamz-notorious-mass-effect/exclusive-contentPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

In this solo Ern episode, we slow the conversation down.Following the latest headlines tying Jay-Z and Pusha T to the so-called Epstein files, the internet rushed to judgment—but what does it actually mean to be “named”?This episode breaks down the difference between being mentioned in an FBI intake report and being charged or provenin a court of law. We walk through what's publicly known about the alleged 1996 and 2007 events, where both artists were in their careers at those times, and why there is no verified transcript—despite claims circulating online. We also examine:How internet outrage turns allegations into verdictsWhy celebrity names amplify unverified claimsThe danger of confusing association with guiltWhat accountability should look like if allegations are ever provenWhether Jay-Z will speak publicly, given he has addressed prior allegations beforeThis isn't a defense and it isn't a conviction. It's a conversation about standards, facts, and how easily truth gets buried by clicks.

Welcome to "The Rip" a new series we are doing on I Like Birds where we rip into the biggest headlines, viral stories, and cultural moments that need to be spotlighted in a biblical perspective. Join us for the very first episode of "The Rip" as we examine recent investigations by Mike Winger involving allegations tied to Shawn Bolz, Todd White, and leadership accountability within Bethel Church, through the lens of Luke 8:17 and 1 Peter 4:17.We then shift to cultural exposure surrounding the Jeffrey Epstein massive document releases, discussing public figures mentioned, such as Bill Gates, Jay-Z, Harvey Weinstein, Pusha T, Prince Andrew, and Brett Ratner. The conversation continues with faith entering the mainstream through moments involving Nicki Minaj, Jelly Roll, Brandon Lake, and reflections on the cost of public faith, especially as we saw at the Grammys. We close by addressing Scripture, celebrity, and true surrender through LeBron James, emphasizing that the Bible is not a quote for motivation but a call to follow Jesus as Lord. We are praying for Lebron, Kanye, and Justin Bieber, as this is a unique opportunity to choose life over darkness. The first conversation is about J Cole's new “Birthday Blizzard” freestyle he dropped last week and some of the controversial things that came from those records. Terrance and Terrell both share a favorite of the four, and discuss if somebody should respond to J Cole and the possibility of him sliding bars Kendrick's way. A good conversation but you know how they get with that sensitive topic. This is all before diving into their thoughts on the 2026 Grammy Awards. A MALLORY BROS PODCAST MUTHAFUCKIN TRADITION! They've been making predictions all year and the winners are finally chosen. Of course they chop it and dive deep into trending opinions from Grammy night like the hate that Olivia Dean received after winning best new artist, Kendrick Lamar & SZA Wins, Leon Thomas & Kehlani R&B, Bad Bunny Wins the Big One AOTY, Clipse coming up short to Kendrick Lamar's GNX for Best Rap Album over Clipse and Terrance even make's a point that the Clipse seemed to be living in Pharrell's shadow. EVERYTHING IS A LOT. Next, the Bros talk about how the Hip Hop World froze when an Epstein file dropped including the names of Jayz and Pusha T. They discuss the seriousness of knowing the legality of these claims while also pointing out the very obvious contradictions and hesitations to cover this story from other media outlets. This news has Hip Hop in a pinch. Terrell says “The only choice is to just wait.” Next the Terrance has a list of actors/actresses he found that he says were PERFECT for a role, but didn't get the part. A lot these you probably won't know and the topic is filled with a lot of good details about the films as well. Not just the roles and auditions process. Terrell gives a hot take on Bacon before the Bros wrap up Episode 289 with the Movie Suggestions of the week. BROS BBQ TASTE SO GOOD.
The Bad Speakers are back with another wild, honest, and hilarious episode packed with sports drama, hip-hop headlines, and real relationship talk. Episode 214, Better In Bed, tackles some of the biggest conversations shaking the culture this week — from Hall of Fame snubs to Grammy moments and the never-ending debate about dating and boundaries. The crew kicks things off reacting to the shocking news that Eli Manning and Bill Belichick didn't make the Hall of Fame — did the voters get it right or disrespect two legends? They also celebrate Derrick Rose's jersey retirement and debate whether his impact truly earned that honor, plus a salute to AJ Styles retiring from professional wrestling. Things get spicy when the guys break down the Epstein files release, which allegedly mentions Jay-Z and Pusha T — are these claims believable or just internet chaos? They also react to NLE Choppa's viral rant, and recap the highly anticipated Hit-Boy vs Mike Will Made-It Verzuz — who really won the producer battle? Music fans get a full 2026 Grammy Awards review, highlighting Kendrick Lamar's huge night with five wins, while sports talk continues with Zion Williamson losing his Jordan Brand deal and Shakur Stevenson defeating Teofimo Lopez in a major boxing matchup. Relationship debates bring classic Bad Speakers energy: Is it okay for your girlfriend to have male friends? Is there an age limit on certain adult lifestyles? And the big question… who's better in bed — older women or younger women? This episode delivers the perfect mix of hip-hop insight, sports analysis, and unfiltered relationship conversationsyou can only get from the Bad Speakers.
What's the one note that can turn a good song into an undeniable one? According to Pusha T and Malice, Pharrell Williams had the answer: “Stick to the pattern.” This clip breaks down the creative discipline, structure, and pattern-based approach that defined Clipse's album and why it felt like solving a Rubik's Cube when it finally clicked. On this episode of the MalloryBros. Podcast, the bros kick things off with the usual Weekend Recap, talking family time, potty training, and birthdays. They first get into Roddy Ricch and his album being pushed back once again, and what they think his next move should be. This sparks a bigger conversation about when artists started taking long gaps between albums and how superstars move differently in today's music climate. Next, they react to Pusha T's take that diss tracks are dead. Terrance understands where Pusha is coming from, while Terrell breaks down what he believes is Pusha's real intention behind the statement. After discussing the Netflix bid last week, the bros are back with updates on the successful acquisition, Paramount's counter offer, and what all of this could mean for movie theaters. Terrell asks Terrance about Quentin Tarantino's recent comments about Actors, and the guys talk Shedeur, the NFL, and JD5. The post attempted to flip Pusha's past criticism of Drake's age-gap preferences, reigniting the never-ending Drake vs Pusha T stan war.Analytic Dreamz examines the verified timeline: Pusha T (born May 1977) and Virginia Williams (born April 1989) went public in 2010 when he was 33 and she was approximately 21—not 18. Clipse was formed in 1994 by two brothers: Gene Thornton Jr, aka Malice, and his younger brother Terrence Thornton, aka Pusha T. From the beginning, they've worked with producer Pharrell Williams, originally as part of the acclaimed production duo, The Neptunes. But then, there was a 16 year gap between the third Clipse album, which came out in 2009, and their most recent album, Let God Sort Em Out, which came out in July 2025. This November, they were nominated for 5 Grammys, including Album of the Year. They were also nominated for Best Rap Song, for “The Birds Don't Sing.” It's a song that they made after the death of both of their parents in the span of just a few months. For this episode, I asked Pusha T, Malice, and Pharrell about the making of that song, which also features contributions from John Legend and Stevie Wonder.
