Hour 1: The emotional hedge worked as Gio bet on the Heat and propelled the Knicks to victory. Jalen Brunson was dominant and Boomer compared him to a QB in the NFL. He and Quentin Grimes played all 48 minutes. The Knicks really won it in the second quarter. Jerry returns for an update but first Boomer wonders where Keith McPherson has been as he saw he was at the Knicks game. Keith is on paternity leave. Mike Fliegelman is filling in for Sal all week and Boomer said nobody knows more about sports than him. Jerry starts with audio from Ian Eagle with highlights from the Knicks win over the Heat. Tom Thibodeau talked about the game down the stretch and talked about rebounding being key. The Warriors beat the Lakers to stay alive out west. Justin Verlander pitched well and the Mets beat the Reds 2-1. Buck Showalter talked about Verlander's performance and the Mets leaving a lot of guys on base. The Yankees beat the A's and Anthony Volpe hit a grand slam. In the final segment of the hour, there is a commercial that runs on CBS Sports Network for some medication that has a side effect of an inflamed taint. Al said that as a species our taints are shrinking, but actually they are getting larger. This would make for a great new version of Back To The Future. We also took calls on the Knicks win over the Heat. Hour 2: Mitchell Robinson made some big free throws after the Heat fouled him on purpose because of how bad he normally is at the line. A caller was confused by the Josh Hart technical foul. We are going to need another38 or more from Jalen Brunson in three straight games. Jerry returns for an update and starts with the sounds of Ian Eagle from last night's Knicks win over the Heat. Mitchell Robinson talked about being sent to the foul line and knew he would be knocking them down. The Warriors beat the Lakers and LeBron talked about the injury to Anthony Davis. Shaq and Barkley were laughing at Anthony Davis leaving in a wheelchair when that was not necessary. The Mets beat the Reds 2-1 and Pete Alonso hit his league-leading 13th HR. Justin Verlander pitched 7 strong innings. Tomas Nido hit the IL for dry eye syndrome. The Yankees had no problem with the A's as Harrison Bader hit a HR which was reviewed for fan interference. The Yankees start a 4-game series with the Rays tonight. Bo Jackson has had the hiccups for 10 months, since last July. He tried everything including ‘smell the ass of a porcupine' and it didn't work. Hour 3: Justin Verlander looked good yesterday but Gio needs to see more to make a fair judgment. The Yankees start a key series with the Tampa Rays starting tonight. We also talked about Mother's Day and what the husband's responsibility is. A caller compares Carmelo Anthony and Julius Randle. Jerry returns for an update but first we heard audio from Peter Schwartz saying his son was supposed to play in the flag football game. Peter comes into the studio to discuss this. We beat him down psychologically. In the final segment of the hour, we talked about the NFL opener, the Lions at the Chiefs. Very odd choice. And we are getting the Bills at the Jets on Monday Night, September 11th. We also talked about potential teams for Hard Knocks. Hour 4: The NFL schedule is starting to trickle in and there are already a number of odd games. The Jets are playing the Bills on 9/11 instead of the Jets playing the Giants. The Knicks play Friday night in Miami and if they get eliminated we will be over it by Monday morning to want to talk about it. Maybe Jalen Brunson's performance last night is the turning point in this series to spark the Knicks. Boomer said Josh Hart has to be more involved and play more than nine minutes. We also talked about the 9/11 game being Bills/Jets instead of Giants/Jets. Jerry returns for an update and starts with some games the NFL has announced this morning. Jerry has audio from Ian Eagle who was on the call for the Knicks win over the Heat last night. Jalen Brunson talked about the fan support at MSG. Buck Showalter talked about Justin Verlander settling in after a couple hits in the first inning. The Yankees open up a 4-game series with the Rays tonight. In the final segment of the show, we talked about the Netflix reality show about Goldin Auction.
The Generative AI News (GAIN) rundown for April 13, 2023, included some breaking news on Amazon Bedrock, the new service competing directly with OpenAI and Microsoft's Azure AI services. We also discussed Twitter's generative AI ambitions, HuggingGPT, a positive generative AI launch from MailChimp and a lackluster implementation by Expedia, OpenAI's bug bounty, the Italy ChatGPT saga, a deepfake of Charles Barkley, Alibab's everything AI bot, and a bit more. Bret Kinsella (that's me) hosted again this week with my Voicebot.ai colleague Eric Schwartz. The top stories in generative AI land this week include: Amazon Takes on OpenAI & Microsoft A multivendor Bedrock approach: Amazon Bedrock now offers easy access to many generative AI models, including AI21 Labs, Anthropic, Stability AI, and Titan. Copilot gets a competitor: Amazon's CodeWhisperer, a text-to-code generator, is now general availability and free. GitHub Copilot may have a market share lead with 400,000 paying subscribers, but free is a good way to accumulate users. Elon Musk Goes Shopping Twitter and Generative AI: Elon Musk has reportedly purchased 10,000 GPUs after he was out recruiting some well-known AI researchers. So, why did he want OpenAI and others to pause their AI research? We'll see. Musk may want Twitter to be an “everything app,” and generative AI would be a key element. Or, he may just want advertisers to have a useful feature. HuggingGPT and Multi-Model Systems Microsoft's latest take on hybrid AI: Microsoft researchers released a paper and a GitHub repository with a new multi-model LLM controller (orchestrator) that can govern access to a variety of AI models for a single interface called HuggingGPT. We will see more of these multi-model services. MailChimp Gets AI Copywriter Building on the core product: MailChimp added AI writing capabilities via an OpenAI integration. It looks like a clean, on-point generative AI feature. There is no extra cost for the feature right now, but at what point will the companies start passing along the model inference costs to users? Expedia Misses the Plot Generating misperception: Expedia also announced some new generative AI features, but it actually only enables you to learn more about hotels and activities. You can't actually book a flight or hotel even though the press release language was cleverly written to suggest there is more there than travel review search. Speaking of search, the new GPT-4-powered Bing not only does a better job of trip planning and research, but it also enables you to book a flight and hotel. Alibaba Goes for Everything A generative cornucopia: Alibaba announced its new generative AI solution. The ChatGPT competitor is called Tongyi Qianwen. It is integrated into the Tmall Genie assistant (i.e., Alibaba's voice assistant), takes meeting notes, writes emails, and creates business documents. It can also help you shop and the company says it supports both Chinese and English. OpenAI Bug$ Out Crowdsourcing security vulnerabilities: OpenAI launched a new Bug Bounty program which will pay out between $200 - $20,000 to developers that find “vulnerabilities, bugs, or security flaws.” This follows OpenAI's highly publicized security vulnerability and subsequent investigations by privacy regulators in Italy and Canada. FanDuel Goes Deep A young Charles Barkley pitches sports gambling: FanDuel has a new commercial that includes a real-life Charles Barkley and a deepfake of his younger self. Deepfakes are becoming mainstream. Or, maybe they already are. The show was originally broadcast live on YouTube and LinkedIn, and we also added it to the Voicebot Podcast for your convenience. You can see the video here on YouTube.
