Our Gold Star families are national treasures, and Pat Marek is a treasure to my family. Pat is the mother of Matt Commons. Matt was my Ranger buddy, and he gave his life in service to our country on March 4, 2002. Pat and I admittedly stayed distant from each other over the years to not emotionally hurt one another. That has changed with this podcast as we shared laughs and tears while we remembered her son and my friend. I hope you all listen to Pat's story, and if you are struggling with a loss, I encourage you to talk with someone. It really does help.

2017 has been a great year for Shaken Not Nerd. We've had a line up of outstanding guests, joined a Network, put our heads in Jello, and done some video interviews at Comic Con Now, some of you have been waiting for this.. for at least.. 20 minutes, maybe more! Jumanji was finally released in cinemas in Australia, so Dudi and Tom not only dragged Ian kicking and screaming into the cinema (Ian was quite upset when he entered the movie.. so thats sorta true) but we also have Matt Commons returning to review Jumanji soley because he stated that he didnt want to watch that film.. (so Dudi made him come onto this episode so he had to watch the film) Finally, we rate our Top 5 Movie moments of 2017, and give our personal film of 2017!
