This Week on the Toy Power Podcast; we have a few scheduling conflicts, so it's just Ben & Scot in the studio; with the always entertaining Mr. Davey Damaged joining us as well!! Kicking things into gear, we discuss the latest News that is hitting our radar. With a heart-felt tribute to some of the recent passings; we reflect on what some of these larger than life people have done; & how each of them will be missed. Then we chat towards the very lack-luster reveal of King Hiss from the MOTU Chronicles line. Peacemaker from Mezco 1:12 is arguably the definitive Toy version of this character we will likely ever get! McFarlane wrap things up with their Wave 16 of DC Super Powers - with an interesting line-up of Characters. But with this being the finale; who are we missing from this overall toy line-up? PlayStation One are getting the Lego treatment; which honestly looks great; but what is with their Easter Egg game choices?! Then we pivot into a general chat towards Latest Scores & then followed up with Reading / Playing / Watching. An overall fun episode - if not for Ben continually tripping over his sentences! Davey plugged the New Australiana Book by: Fridalasvegas -Australianarama - A Campendium Of Kitsch - an awesome history of what makes Australia so unique!! The flailing DCEU runs at light-speed into a brick wall with this misbegotten penultimate pre-reboot entry. Ugly and unfunny, even the film's sole interesting element - Ezra Miller's weird and hysterical performance - is ultimately abandoned for Batman nostalgia and a failed, flat attempt to launch an (immediately recast) Supergirl. It's a bad, bad movie, but at least we had a lot of fun talking about it. Plus: Cole's pot-history of the character and defense of the CW tv show! Zack Snyder's DCEU Batman gets its due on this episode of Houselights, as Tristan, John, and Darren tackle Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Zack Snyder's Justice League, the four-hour version. They dig into Affleck's jacked, jaded, gun-happy Bruce Wayne, the ultraviolence debate that's dogged these films since release, and why Snyder's Batman works best as part of an ensemble. Expect heated disagreement, a defense of the Knightmare segments, and a final verdict in burned batarangs.

As the DC Extended Universe nears its inevitable reboot, filmmaker Chris Bell (Failed State, Attention Shoppers, The Winds That Scatter) joins the pod to dissect one of its last offerings in the form of Blue Beetle, a comparatively decent entry from a franchise that's still got another very expensive bowel-movement or two waiting for us. We once again debate the merits and limitations of Hollywood progressivism with this rather earnest if not by-the-numbers origin story for the Jaime Reyes incarnation of Blue Beetle, who according to SOME third mics is more popular than Iron Man if you're going by children's' lunchboxes. More importantly, what is a Blue Beetle and what's his relationship to the School of the Americas? Why did it take until the DCEU was about to be scrapped for parts for a Latino-led superhero movie to get released? Do Toyotas speak to an authentic Latino cultural experience? Did mother Susan Sarandon relish the opportunity to play her mortal enemy Hillary Clinton? If you'd like to see Chris' newest film, Failed State, send him an email at christopherjasonbell@gmail.com. Well… Is Supergirl (2026) really that bad? The internet seems to think so, but where do we stand? In this episode, we review the latest DC Studios film starring Milly Alcock and ask the only question that matters: Does Supergirl actually deserve the hate? No clickbait here. No rage farming. Just two grown men having a painfully honest discussion about the DCEU, James Gunn, and where superhero movies go from here. Oh, and we talk a little Temu, too. Join us. Wanna be on the show? The timeline has been reset, the dust has settled, and the Binge Buddies are delivering their ultimate cinematic verdict. > Welcome to the grand finale of "Hall of Just Us." After surviving the absolute highest highs and the most grueling, Skittle-tasting lows of the DC Extended Universe, your hosts Bryan, Matt, Joel, and Ryan are closing out the season with a massive, two-hour-plus double episode event! Before delivering their final judgments on the franchise, the guys are taking a much-needed multiverse detour to cleanse the palette with some non-DCEU adventures. We're discussing the animated hijinks of Scooby-Doo! and Krypto, Too! and Justice League vs. the Fatal Five, before throwing it back to the Christopher Reeve classic Superman II and the neon-soaked camp of Batman Forever. Once the detour is over, it's time for the main event. We are breaking down our definitive DCEU superlatives: Best Hero, Best Villain, Favorite Action Moments, Best Lines, and finally, the ultimate, undisputed ranking of every single film in the universe. Settle in, grab enough snacks for a double feature, and hit play—we're bringing down the Hall of Justice!
This Week on the Toy Power Podcast; even though we are Celebrating our 10th Year of Podcasting; we unfortunately exhausted all our energy on the Previous SDCC Reveals & Announcements Ep. So we are giving you a ReIssue episode instead from the Vault. (Originally Posted as Ep #143 - from October 2019). Original blurb: It’s a very special ep as we’re joined by not one, but two of favourite guests in Davey Damaged and Scotty so that’s right – it’s a Homer episode! Trent takes us through a vintage retrospective look at The Addams family by Playmates. Perfectly timed for Halloween, we wonder what could have been with this short-lived line and look to the future of the franchise as a new movie approaches. What characters didn’t get made, which ones make the camera glow and where does MC Hammer fit into it all? We make the jump to Show and Tell as Davey tries to trump us all with a purchase so large, we doubt it will actually fit in his toy room! There’s some DC, MOTU and even Final Fantasy options to choose from. Frank gives a lovely tribute showing that sometimes, the value of a toy; lays in more than its sticker price. Then it’s Quiz time and with Davey onboard, anything is possible. To say this episode goes off the rails is putting it mildly – but on the plus side we learnt that Trent can’t hold his liquor, Ben thinks photos record sound, Space Jam was an event and Rick Moranis is Trent’s muse. So hold on for this crazy ride that also serves as a farewell for one of the team…Support the show: http://patreon.com/toypowerpodcastSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Fire up the drum-playing cephalopods, because the Binge Buddies are closing out the DCEU with a massive, aquatic question mark. > Welcome back to "Hall of Just Us," where your hosts Bryan, Matt, Joel, and Ryan have reached the official end of the line: 2023's Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. The guys are trying to figure out exactly what the hell this movie actually is. Is it a cohesive sequel? A disjointed, studio-mandated mess? A surprisingly fun buddy-cop ride between Jason Momoa's Arthur Curry and Patrick Wilson's Orm? Or is it all just a spectacularly weird, two-hour excuse to give Topo the Octopus a starring role? Join the crew as they break down James Wan's final plunge into Atlantis. From the horror-tinged water zombies and Black Manta's ancient revenge plot, to the bizarre reality that this is how a decade-long cinematic universe dies—not with an epic superhero crossover, but with a genetically engineered, multi-instrumentalist sidekick. Grab a pint of Guinness and hit play—we're officially turning out the lighthouse lights on the DCEU!
We return to recording at the shop with a SDCC 2026 recap featuring comics, movies, show and toys! We're ecstatic to see Bill back in action and in the shop at 3611! Thanks for being here!

The Binge Buddies are breaking the sound barrier and fracturing the multiverse, but this timeline might be beyond saving. > Welcome back to "Hall of Just Us." This week, Bryan, Matt, Joel, and Ryan are strapping in for the ultimate cinematic paradox: 2023's The Flash. This movie features the absolute highest highs and the most subterranean, rock-bottom lows of the entire DCEU, all crammed into one chaotic, reality-bending package. The guys are breaking down the breathtaking highs, from the triumphant, nostalgic return of Michael Keaton's iconic Batman and Sasha Calle's fierce debut as Supergirl, to the surprisingly emotional core of Barry Allen trying to save his mother. But then come the lows—and they hit like a freight train. We are pulling no punches on the horrifying, unfinished "Chronobowl" CGI, the deeply uncanny valley deepfake cameos, and the exhausting multiverse fatigue that derailed the franchise's grand finale. Grab your cosmic treadmill and hit play—we're running straight into the chaos!

From the world of comics to the world of crime, the conversation is always lively and engaging. In this episode, the host is joined by a special guest from the floor of the San Diego Comic Con, where they're discussing the latest developments in the comic book world, including the highly anticipated Marvel reveal and the resurgence of beloved properties like Star Wars. The host and their guest dive into the world of comic books, discussing the current state of the industry and the impact of the MCU and DCEU on the fans. They also touch on the importance of comic con as a platform for fans to connect with each other and celebrate their shared love of comics. Meanwhile, the host also shares some personal anecdotes about their own experiences with comic con, including a hilarious story about a cosplayer's reaction to a potato-themed joke. A singer is accused of murdering a 14-year-old girl and stuffing her remains in his Tesla trunk, and the host shares some disturbing details about the case. Join the host and their guest as they explore the world of comic con and beyond, and get ready to be entertained, informed, and maybe even a little bit shocked.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
The hierarchy of power in the DCEU didn't just change—it completely collapsed, and the Binge Buddies are crashing down hard into the wreckage. > Welcome back to "Hall of Just Us." After riding high for two straight weeks on some genuinely fantastic superhero cinema, Bryan, Matt, Joel, and Ryan are hitting a massive brick wall with 2022's Black Adam. Dwayne Johnson spent a decade hyping up this passion project, only to deliver what might just be the absolute worst, most soulless entry in the entire franchise. The guys are pulling no punches as they dissect the agonizingly bland action, the relentless over-use of slow-motion, the painfully forced comic relief, and the structural nightmare of introducing the Justice Society with zero buildup. But amidst the flaming dumpster fire of a script, we have to give credit where it's due: the absolute class, charisma, and saving grace that is Pierce Brosnan's incredible performance as Doctor Fate. Grab your magic amulet and hit play—we're trying to survive the sheer ego of the Rock's ultimate cinematic misfire!
This Week on the Toy Power Podcast; we dive back into our regular News Segment - with quite a bit to cover! Throw out your Dreamstones, because the Binge Buddies are about to wish they could unsee this one. > Welcome back to "Hall of Just Us." This week, Bryan, Matt, Joel, and Ryan are gritting their teeth and wading through what might just be the biggest misstep of the entire franchise: the nearly unwatchable Wonder Woman 1984. How did the team behind one of the DCEU's greatest triumphs deliver such a monumental sophomore slump? The guys are breaking down every baffling creative decision in this neon-tinted disaster. From the highly questionable ethics of Steve Trevor's body-snatching return and Kristen Wiig's descent into Cats-level CGI as Cheetah, to Pedro Pascal screaming at wind tunnels and the bizarre lack of actual Wonder Woman action. We're trying to figure out how this 80s nostalgia trip went so spectacularly wrong. Strap on your golden armor and hit play—we're trying to survive the mall!

Fire up the randomizer, because the Binge Buddies are about to get fantabulously emancipated. > Welcome back to "Hall of Just Us," where your hosts Bryan, Matt, Joel, and Ryan are breaking away from the typical grim superhero formula to celebrate 2020's surprisingly fantastic Birds of Prey. Cathy Yan and Margot Robbie crafted a vibrant, chaotic, R-rated carnival ride that breathes fresh, glitter-filled air into the DCEU. The guys are breaking down Harley Quinn's phenomenal solo-ish outing, the bone-crunching roller derby action, and the killer chemistry of the newly formed squad. We also have to talk about Ewan McGregor having the absolute time of his life playing the wildly narcissistic Black Mask—complete with his hilariously ruthless "ew, gross, kill her too" reaction to a grieving child's snot bubble. Grab your perfect breakfast egg sandwich and hit play—it's time for some mayhem!

The Binge Buddies are striking cinematic lightning, and this time, it's a family affair. > Welcome back to "Hall of Just Us." This week, Bryan, Matt, Joel, and Ryan are stepping out of the epic, world-ending shadows and into the surprisingly heartfelt, Amblin-esque joy of 2019's Shazam!. The guys are breaking down how director David F. Sandberg injected a massive dose of fun and foster-family warmth into the DCEU without losing his horror roots. Join the crew as we discuss Zachary Levi's pitch-perfect man-child energy, the hilarious, scene-stealing dynamic with Jack Dylan Grazer's Freddy Freeman, and those genuinely terrifying Seven Deadly Sins monsters. Did this lighter, comedic detour prove that the cinematic universe still had some magic left in it? Say the word and hit play—we're testing out our new superpowers!
Trade your chainsaws for tridents, because the Binge Buddies are diving into the deep end of the DCEU! > Welcome back to "Hall of Just Us." After surviving the wreckage of our last outing, Bryan, Matt, Joel, and Ryan are thrilled to announce that things are finally getting good again. We are plunging headfirst into the neon-soaked, wildly unapologetic spectacle of James Wan's 2018 Aquaman. The guys are breaking down how Jason Momoa took the guy who talks to fish and turned him into a legitimate cinematic rockstar. From the absolute madness of Atlantis' world-building and the terrifying horror elements of the Trench, to Black Manta's massive helmet and the legendary drum-playing octopus, we're soaking up every ridiculous, glorious minute of this underwater epic. The Binge Buddies are stepping onto the battlefield, and we're taking a look at a modern superhero classic—problematic third act and all. Welcome back to "Hall of Just Us," where your hosts Bryan, Matt, Joel, and Ryan are shedding the grimdark shadows of Gotham and Metropolis to bask in the radiant glory of 2017's Wonder Woman. Patty Jenkins and Gal Gadot completely revitalized the DCEU with this sweeping, hopeful World War I epic, but the guys aren't holding back on the elephant in the trenches. Join the crew as they celebrate the breathtaking No Man's Land sequence, the incredible chemistry between Diana and Chris Pine's Steve Trevor, and the film's status as a milestone for the genre—before diving headfirst into that messy, CGI-heavy, mustache-twirling Ares finale. Grab your Lasso of Truth and hit play; it's time to find out if love can truly save the world!

The DCU has been re-formatted like a hard drive sporting Windows 95, and two films deep, the question is now being asked: Is it working? The boys are back with their take on that question, as they consider the merits of a punk-metal version of Supergirl versus her 80s predecessor and consider whether James Gunn and Peter Safran have their finger on the pulse of fans the world over. Is it time to panic that the DCU is going the way of the DCEU before it, or should everyone just take a chill-pill and enjoy Supergirl for what it is? Find out as The Countdown continues ... Fire up the chainsaws, because episode three of Binge Buddies is cutting into one of the most chaotic chapters of the DCEU. > Welcome back to "Hall of Just Us." This week, Bryan, Matt, Joel, and Ryan are assembling Task Force X to tackle David Ayer's undeniably rough-around-the-edges 2016 Suicide Squad. From the neon-soaked, pop-music-fueled editing room to the infamous behind-the-scenes studio meddling, the guys are dissecting the movie's messy cinematic legacy. Did Margot Robbie's pitch-perfect debut as Harley Quinn and Will Smith's carrying-the-team charisma as Deadshot save the mission? Or did Jared Leto's tattooed Joker and a world-ending CGI villain leave this anti-hero team-up dead on arrival? Rev up those engines, grab your baseball bats, and hit play—we're breaking into Belle Reve! Intro and graphics by Jon Hardesty
Up, up and away.. and crashing back down again! Hayley and Brian are ready to talk all things SUPERGIRL, having just seen the movie and comparing what was used from the "Woman of Tomorrow" comic run and what wasn't. See you later, ditz... or the other word... we're still not sure :)EMAIL: SPARCPODCAST@GMAIL.COMTWITTER: https://twitter.com/SourcePagesCastINSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/thesourcepagespodcast/FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/SPARCPODCASTSPaRC's Podcast Buddies:Across the Bifrost: The Mighty Thor - https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/across-the-bifrost-the-mighty-thor-podcast/id1572200841Dan and Ian Have Questions - https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/dan-and-ian-have-questions-podcast/id1587402809Commute: The Podcast - https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/commute-the-podcast/id1552657624Segabits - https://segabits.com/Machtails From the Cantina - https://www.facebook.com/machtailsfromthecantina/Rebel Force Radio Presents "The Babu Freaks" - https://www.rebelforceradio.com/shows/category/BaJacked Kirby - https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/jacked-kirby/id1248146026So Weird So Fun - https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/so-weird-so-fun-swsf-friends-through-fandom/id1793135012Star Wars YOU-niverse - https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/star-wars-you-niverse-podcast/id1704904756Zu's Views - https://open.spotify.com/show/374glEsDjAlMzoQESkau4J?si=252a53383b394874The True Be-league-ers Podcast - https://open.spotify.com/show/2vLzEAmxAqEuolXb3Veua3?si=b0faa72dd37a4dbb

For our final look at Supergirl, we're returning to the DCEU. And also Earth 89, Earth 789, Earth 30, Earth 66, Earth 203, Earth 789, and a reboot. That's right, we're taking a look at The Flash (2023), which aimed to be both a love letter to and the end of the Zack Snyder DC Universe, while also serving as an introduction to James Gunn's DCU. All your favourites are back: Michael Keaton, Ben Affleck, George Clooney, and Adam West as Batman, along with Wonder Woman, Aquaman, a pretty solid interpretation of Supergirl from Sasha Calle, and Ezra Miller's The Flash, I guess, if you're into that kind of thing. And it's awful. Mary & Blake discuss listener feedback for Outlander Season 8 Episode 8, "In The Forest." In this episode, we go through your reactions to one of the strongest episodes of the final season — including why so many listeners felt like Ron Moore helped get the show back on track, why Jamie and William's hug absolutely broke everyone, and why Fanny hearing the buzzing has people very, very nervous. We also discuss the lingering fallout from Episode 8.07, whether Fergus's death worked better than the book version, Marsali leaving the Ridge, Frank's "Deadeye" reveal, Lord John walking into yet another trap, and why the final two episodes still have a LOT to pay off. Plus, Angie gives us the quote of the season, Mary gets emotionally wounded by Apple Podcast reviews, Blake compares Outlander's spin-off energy to the DCEU, and we somehow end with tuna melts, Mr. Feeney, Chantilly cake, and "I'm not a Hulk, I'm a person."
