This time, they're applying that equation to all of us self-isolating at home. Their new creation, Two Bit Circus REMOTE, will give you a chance to add fun to your Thursday nights, free! And now, you can book Two Bit Circus REMOTE for interactive special occasions, as we work and celebrate special events remotely. So, what is Two Bit Circus REMOTE? A platform of customizable games, which you can play from home with your family, friends and team members, presented in a live, online game-show format, Professional entertainers serve as hosts for these events, both for the weekly public show and the cu. In a recent press release,Two Bit Circus describes these experiences as "a mash-up of classic TV game shows, with a splash of bar trivia and the magic of the Internet". And you're invited to their free public Halloween show, coming up on Thursday, October 29th! They also have special-edition themed shows available for booking: a holiday edition, birthday edition and REMOTE for corporate groups! According to their press release, there's also a video-themed show--as well as a Remote Dating theme in the works. As Two Bit Circus' CTO and "Mad Inventor", Eric Gradman is passionate about creating seriously cool new technology--and about entertaining. He has both a background in computer science and as a circus performer. Robotics, developing immersive story rooms and engaging audiences are three of his areas of expertise. Over Coffee® is on Thanksgiving hiatus. Please enjoy this Cyber Monday special rebroadcast of one of our top episodes of 2019! In 2018, Two Bit Circus opened the world's first Micro-Amusement Park™. And for Cyber Monday, they're offering a special that might make a nice gift for anyone on your list this year. (Or for you!) "C'mon, what is it?" Oh, OK. It's unlimited play within their arcade during January. (Some restrictions apply, according to their website.) During Maker Walk L.A., in May, we had the opportunity to talk with Two Bit Circus Creative Producer Josh Randall. Josh offered a closer look at the magic behind Two Bit Circus. This unique indoor amusement park started with the "carnival" concept. Then, co-founders Brent Bushnell and Eric Gradman and their team added computers, lasers, virtual reality, video games and a sense of community to the mix. (Like a closer look? Here's our coverage of Two Bit Circus's opening, just prior to their official Grand Opening in September 2018.) And Two Bit Circus keeps innovating! Their nonprofit educational organization, Two Bit Circus Foundation, is designed to engage communities and inspire the next generation of inventors. Indie game creators are invited to submit their creations for consideration for "Beta Nights", in which guests come in and play new games and offer feedback on them. And a lot more is coming in 2020! On this edition of Over Coffee®, you will hear: How Josh first began his career with Two Bit Circus; What his experiences were like, during his first days of working with the team; What’s new at the Micro Amusement Park since it opened, nine months ago; A good creative lesson Josh and the team learned, from observing visitors’ responses while adding new content and events.
Josh Randall's average workday is a circus. And he completely loves it. As Creative Producer of Two Bit Circus, Josh uses imagination, technology and his background producing live events to create some seriously cool experiences. And this upcoming Tuesday, June 4th, if you're in Los Angeles, you can be a part of Two Bit Circus's creative process. They'll be hosting "Beta Night"--and you're invited to come and play some of the new games they're showcasing! Since Two Bit Circus's Micro Amusement Park opened, in September 2018, they've wowed visitors with a brand-new type of entertainment. Think "carnival meets community center meets twenty-first century", and you'll be on the right track. Virtual reality escape rooms, completely interactive "game shows", re-imagined video games make no two guest experiences alike. There's also a constant stream of new content. Two Bit Circus works with independent game creators, local performers and educators to keep everything growing and evolving. During Make It In LA's recent MakerWalk LA 2019, Josh escorted visitors through the Two Bit Circus Micro Amusement Park. He told the group about some brand-new features and ways they're continuing to innovate "the future of fun". After the tour, we had the opportunity to talk briefly about what's happening at Two Bit Circus--and what you can expect to see on Beta Night! On this edition of Over Coffee®, you will hear: How Josh first began his career with Two Bit Circus; What his experiences were like, during his first days of working with the team; What's new at the Micro Amusement Park since it opened, nine months ago; A good creative lesson Josh and the team learned, from observing visitors' responses while adding new content and events; What visitors can see and experience, if they attend Beta Night on June 4th (hint: there's something brand-new, 100% designed in-house!). Two Bit Circus, located at 634 Mateo Street in downtown Los Angeles, invites you to their third official Beta Night, Tuesday, June 4 from 6 pm to midnight. Here's the link for information.

But don't expect their Micro Amusement Park™, in downtown Los Angeles, to be like any other amusement experience you've ever had. (Photo courtesy of Two Bit Circus, and used with permission.) "Interactive" is the key word as you explore the 38,000-square-foot complex. (Photo courtesy of Two Bit Circus, and used with permission.) Carnival elements combine with computers, robotics, VR, XR and a sense of "what if we did this?" to show visitors a great time. Even the shows (well, especially the shows) involve participation and collaboration. (Photo courtesy of Two Bit Circus, and used with permission.) And no two visits to the Micro Amusement Park™, which opened in September, 2018, will ever be the same. Eric Gradman is the co-founder and CTO of Two Bit Circus. He is also a computer software designer, a circus performer--and a professional whistler! Eric talked about the experience of creating the Micro Amusement Park™, some of the resources available to fellow creatives, and what's next! What started as a company that built ephemeral experiences is now a permanent physical collection of original games, immersive "story rooms" and VR adventures. Bushnell explains how Two Bit Circus got its start and his ambitious growth plans.
