He began doing comedy in 1992 and was soon hired by Syracuse's top morning radio show to cover sports and write jokes, his first loves. Learn more about your ad choices. Welcome back friends to another great episode of Festival Pass Stories Podcast! This week, we had the pleasure to share some laughs with Syracuse, New York's own, the profoundly funny stand-up comedian, Moody McCarthy! Matthew “Moody” McCarthy grew up wanting to be a musician, but he always enjoyed comedy as well. After attending New York University, Moody grew the desire to take his talents to the stage and entertain audiences by telling jokes. He began his career as a comic, and covered sports at one of Syracuse's top morning radio shows, “Y95FM”. Soon, Moody started to get recognized by his peers for his ability to improv, which led to booking bigger shows. Comedians dream of performing live on late night television. It's one of the best ways to improve a comic's image, and it's also an honor to share the same platform as so many greats from the past. Moody has found himself under the bright lights on many occasions. Throughout his career, Moody has performed on “Jimmy Kimmel Live”, “Conan”, and appeared twice on “The Late Show with David Letterman”. Moody has also done his act on “Star Search”, “Last Comic Standing”, and “America's Got Talent”. Moody gives the credit to his family and upbringing for his comedy success. Growing up as the sixth of seven children in a big Irish family, and being a husband and father is very much a part of his presence on stage. Moody continues to make people laugh and is consistently working his craft at private parties, corporate events, and fundraisers. He's also working on a screenplay that we hope to see made in the future. “Any kind of stimulus in life, just getting married, having kids, buying a house…anything you do is good for your comedy. You want to get knocked out of your comfort zone.” - Moody McCarthy Catch the interview on Festival Pass Stories! https://festivalpass.com/stories Resources: Moody McCarthy's Website: http://www.moodymccarthy.com Moody McCarthy's Twitter: https://twitter.com/moodymccarthy Moody McCarthy's Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/comicMoody/ Moody McCarthy's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/moodymccarthy/ Connect with Festival Pass!
