Comedian and Daily Show host Ronny Chieng spoke at Harvard Class Day. He gave a profanity‑filled, anti‑AI rant that went viral. A huge contrast to other graduation speeches pushing students to embrace AI. Despite the extreme phrasing, the speech wasn’t really about destroying AI—it was about not letting AI replace being human. The California State Senate passed a bill (SB 867), a 4‑year pause on selling and making these toys for minors. The state is basically saying we need to figure out how to make AI toys safe before we let kids use them. Florida’s Attorney General (James Uthmeier) filed a lawsuit against: OpenAI & CEO Sam Altman. This lawsuit is basically trying to treat AI like a potentially harmful product, and hold the company accountable for what it enables—not just what it says. Bio:  Al Madrigal broke out of San Francisco's vibrant comedy scene with a sharp wit and an even sharper sense of timing — talents that would take him from stand-up stages to television screens and writers' rooms. Al Madrigal cut his teeth in San Francisco's stand-up scene, drawing on his Mexican and Italian roots to shape a comedic voice that's sharp, self-aware, and distinctly his own. Madrigal's star began to rise when he won a Jury Award for Best Stand-Up Comedian at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival, leading to multiple appearances on The Tonight Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, and Conan O'Brien. In 2011, he began a five-season stint on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart as the “Senior Latino Correspondent,” a role he recently revisited following the inauguration of Donald Trump in January 2025.  His first one-hour special, Why Is the Rabbit Crying?, premiered on Comedy Central in 2013 and was named one of the top 10 comedy specials of the year by Westword and The Village Voice. His follow-up, Shrimpin' Ain't Easy, released two years after his award-winning 2015 docu-comedy Half Like Me, was recognized in Decider and Vulture's Top 10 Lists. Rolling Stone Magazine praised him in an article titled “The Best Stand-up TV Right Now,” saying, “The Daily Show alum spins comedy gold.” As an actor, Madrigal boasts a diverse IMDb page, with roles in Lopez vs. Lopez, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Bob's Burgers, St. Denis Medical, Single Parents, About a Boy, Lucifer, Rutherford Falls, and feature films such as Air and The Way Back with Ben Affleck, and Night School alongside Kevin Hart and Tiffany Haddish.  Madrigal has lent his voice to a range of television projects including Jim Carrey's I'm Dying Up Here and Broke with Jaime Camil. He is also developing an extensive slate of TV projects under his current deal at CBS Studios. But his writing isn't limited to just TV. In 2022, Al teamed up with AWA and former Marvel Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso to publish his Mexican and Mayan-influenced comic book, Primos.  Behind the camera, Madrigal has executive-produced stand-up specials for Demetri Martin, Ronny Chieng, Neal Brennan, Shane Gillis, Whitney Cummings, Mae Martin, and Bill Burr, his partner in the number one-rated comedy podcast network, All Things Comedy. He was appointed to the board of the National Association of Latino Independent Producers where he provides industry access and helps amplify underrepresented voices to champion stories rooted in cultural authenticity. As a first generation Chinese-Canadian, it's wonderful that Baker Joe of Wai Tack Kee is keeping Miroki's shelves full of delicious traditional Cantonese snacks. His daughter Audrey Tam joins us on Tasting Together to speak about Joe's journey from Hong Kong to Canada, and how their family business brings prosperity into homes all across the GTA through nut filled dumpling pastries, pineapple cakes and lotus flower cookies.André and friends join Miroki's celebrations at Jumbo Lobster in Markham, partaking in a banquet that included sweet, succulent king crab and a lobster tower stir fried with a salted egg yolk. Corkage at this famed seafood spot only starts at $15, but Andre did ogle at their insanely high end wine list presented on a deceptively humble laminated menu. The question to always ask is...order more dim sum or try their dry aged steaks? It has been nearly 7 years since Miroki has enjoyed a family style New Year dinner. Towards the end of Lunar New Year, she will finally have the opportunity to enjoy whole steamed fish (symbolizing wealth), noodles (prosperity) and barbecue pork (riches and strength) through delicious homecooking. Just like house music and music in general.Anything that is really funny is because we know it to be true in our gut, but it's wrapped up and opened in surprising ways. You feel it. It's undeniable.Love Patrice O'Neal (RIP) and Bill Burr, followed by Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle, Eddie Murphy, Shane Gillis, and Jimmy Carr. You either love it as soon as you hear it or you don't care for it.That's why it's such an emotional, physical and mental release. When we receive it and the tracks connect with us. We get goosebumps because it's so good.I think about how music and other art forms affect me and why. Why do I love certain artists? It's that ones that respect that purity in making, sharing and others receiving their art. When I'm DJ'ing in front of a crowd, there is nothing like it. I've spend 4-8hrs the week before prepping the tracks that I'd like the option of spinning. Then seeing people's reactions to each track that I LOVE that MOVE me... dropping them and seeing the reactions. The giving and receiving. When out dancing and receiving a DJ's vision of house music. Desi Lydic tackles Biden & Trump's feisty calls for a pre-election debate without worm-ridden opponent RFK Jr., Michael Kosta proposes we use the presidential debate as a geriatric fitness test, and King Charles sees red in his first portrait as king. Then Jordan Klepper and Ronny Chieng host a new segment called "Sports War," where they debate the hottest sports news including Caitlin Clark's WNBA debut, Olympic organizers dealing with a literal river of shit in Paris, the KC Chiefs kicker's misogynist commencement address, and Shohei Ohtani's former interpreter going to trial for embezzling from the LA Dodgers star. The only rule of Sports War? You're not allowed to agree on anything. And Academy Award and Tony-nominated actress Amy Ryan joins Desi to discuss receiving her third Tony Award nomination for playing Sister Aloysius in “Doubt: A Parable,” and having only one week to prepare for the Broadway role. Ryan also alludes to a major plot twist in her Apple TV+ series, “Sugar,” and how the show puts a spin on the classic noir detective narrative.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
