Gary began his professional career at the age of 16 as a singer/dancer/percussionist working with R&B acts in the K.C. area. During the next 30 years, Gary continued to work professionally, sometimes as a vocalist, but more often as a percussionist, backing some of the greatest names in Jazz and Entertainment. Working with the likes of Hank Crawford for 8 years, Eddie Cano (One of the fathers of Latin Jazz) for 4 years, and the award winning quartet Yoboso for 5 years whose CD "Off The Menu" Won 6 awards at the New Mexico Music Awards including Best Vocal Performance. Some greats Gary has performed with include Grover Washington Jr., Sonny Stitt, Percy Mayfield, Sammy Davis Jr., Ester Phillips, Herbie Mann, Les McCann, David "Fat Head" Newman, and many others.
Rich Chorné, a Ruidoso, NM musician turned recording artist and producer brings home New Mexico's Best Blues Album Award at a ceremony hosted by the New Mexico Music Awards on May 7th in Albuquerque. The kudos are shared with Montrose Records owner Richard Cagle who also sang on the album. “This honor is an acknowledgment that this little Ruidoso neighborhood harbors top musical talent and can produce music at the highest levels. I'm proud to bring this honor home,” Chorné states. This album features three vocalists besides Chorné; Richard Cagle, Kathy Lyon, and Tommy Lepson. Chorné penned nine of the twelve songs. Some songs are close to Rich's life experience such as You Gotta Have Faith, a song about his father's advice, and Bordertown Blues, a song about El Paso. Walkin' With My Baby, sung by Richard Cagle, was nominated for Best Blues Song. Rich looks forward to supporting this album with live performances. Rich Chorné, a native of El Paso and UTEP graduate, has been a regular performer around Ruidoso and El Paso. He has a history of touring and living in the East Coast where he produced his first four albums. Aaron Markland is an award-winning singer, published songwriter, veteran, retired firefighter/paramedic, husband, father, and surfer born and raised in San Diego California. Aaron served 2 years as a Pararescue Trainee and 1 year as a Munitions Systems Specialist in the United States Air Force. Aaron also served 12 years as a Paramedic Firefighter in the Albuquerque Fire Department and retired as a Lieutenant in 2019. Aaron has recorded 5 full-length albums and is currently a professional musician based out of Ocean Beach. Aaron’s alternative rock band Self Contained recently won Best Rock Album at the 2019 New Mexico Music Awards. Aaron is married to a San Diego Police Detective and he has 2 sons (ages 8 and 3 weeks old). Aaron’s grandfather (Frederick Markland) served in the Marine Corps and was awarded the Navy Cross for actions during the Korean War.
