Congratulations on reaching Day 7 of creating your own inner authority and calm. When you intentionally slow your breath, relax your posture, or force yourself to smile (a biological signal of safety), you activate the Vagus nerve. This activation sends a massive inhibitory signal to the amygdala and other stress centers, effectively dampening your panic response. ALL ABOUT THIS WEEK'S SERIES Welcome to The Roman Power Code: 7 Days to Inner Authority and Calm. If you've ever felt your energy drain away in a stressful situation, if your hands shake before a presentation, or if you struggle to maintain focus under pressure, this series is for you. We often try to solve problems of confidence and anxiety with our thoughts—we argue with our inner critic, we try to logically reason our way into feeling secure. But the ancient Romans understood a profound truth: Your body is the source of your authority. The Roman Empire was built on more than just discipline; it was built on an embodied presence that they called Gravitas—a personal weight, seriousness, and undeniable importance. This journey is a practical masterclass in self-command. By the end of this series, you won't just feel more confident—you will have a physical, repeatable, and accessible code to embody that confidence whenever you need it. This is day 7 of a 7-day meditation series, The Roman Power Code: 7 Days to Inner Authority and Calm," episodes 3416-3422. YOUR WEEKLY CHALLENGE: Intentional Micro-Posturing Quest: Check your posture, adjust your shoulders, back, relax your jaw, and hold the Gaze of Authority (steady, calm eye contact). This challenge forces you to consciously apply the Roman techniques in low-stakes situations, building the neural pathways for Embodied Power to become automatic. THIS WEEK'S MEDITATION JOURNEY Day 1: Dignity Visualization Day 2: Affirmation: "I command my presence and own my peace." Day 3: Praetor's Pause Day 4: Ganesha mudra for overcoming obstacles Day 5: Seventh Chakra for Interconnectedness Day 6: Mental Focus Flow meditation, combining the week's techniques Day 7: Weekly review meditation and closure SHARE YOUR MEDITATION JOURNEY WITH YOUR FELLOW MEDITATORS Let's connect and inspire each other! Discover why uncontrolled hand movements instantly betray your anxiety and compromise your authority. We explore the codified Roman rhetoric of gestures, revealing how intentional stillness sends a powerful signal of clarity and calm to both your audience and your own nervous system. Finally, we integrate the story of Stoic philosopher Epictetus, who used unwavering hand control as his shield against external turmoil and a testament to his ultimate inner freedom. In ancient Roman times, the voice was considered a weapon. A high-pitched or rushed voice signaled panic; a slow, deep, modulated voice signaled confidence and control. The goal wasn't volume, but resonance, achieved through deep abdominal breathing. Modern Science shares the discovery of Vagus Nerve Toning. Deep, slow breathing—especially extending the exhale—and vocalizing at a lower pitch stimulates the Vagus Nerve, directly lowering heart rate and increasing Heart Rate Variability (HRV). This physiological change instantly shifts you into a state of relaxed control. ALL ABOUT THIS WEEK'S SERIES Welcome to The Roman Power Code: 7 Days to Inner Authority and Calm. Talking is easy. Listening takes intention. In this episode of Grit & Gravitas, Anne & Anne explore how emotional intelligence (EQ) fuels strong leadership and healthy workplaces. They unpack what it means to understand people, navigate conflict, and choose words that connect instead of divide. From reading between the lines to balancing intellect with empathy, this conversation delivers business vitamins that every professional needs: practical wisdom, emotional awareness, and the reminder that growth begins when we truly listen. Because it's not what happens to you that defines success, it's how you respond. “I'll walk into anything, and I'm going to listen, and we're going to find a way through it if that's what we want to do," says Anne Carnathan. Tune in for a grounded, insightful conversation on why listening isn't a luxury at all, it's leadership in action.

Originally uploaded September 22, reloaded October 5th. Wednesday, September 17th, MBN was on the road to Detroit for CAR - the Center for Automotive Research's 60th annual Management Briefing Seminars. The event moved from The Grand Traverse Resort & Spa to Michigan Central the refurbished railroad hub in the city. This relocation signals a bold renewal, marrying automotive heritage with forward-looking mobility innovation. The MBS platform is built to convene leaders across original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), suppliers, mobility services, government, and infrastructure, enabling connection at the nexus of policy, technology, and business strategy. CAR's 2025 tagline—“a new era, a new home”—underscores the intent to redefine expectation. MBS is positioning itself not merely as an industry conference, but as a decision-making engine: the place where executives, strategists, and policymakers gather to debate the future of mobility under one roof. Content will explore major disruptions in the sector: electrification, autonomous systems, infrastructure, regulatory reform, and sustainable business models. Panel sessions and keynotes will examine how shifting global competition, supply chain sovereignty, and policy uncertainty challenge legacy businesses — and empower new entrants. The agenda promises curated sessions across themes: policy and regulation, technology foresight, industry transformation, and strategic planning. CAR will deliver resources through the Whova app and partner portals — slides, video, and supplemental materials — ensuring attendees can revisit content long after the event. Selecting Detroit and Michigan Central Station is deeply symbolic. It reflects a belief in returning to the roots of American mobility while leaning into reinvention. The venue choice embodies the tension the industry faces: honoring legacy while disrupting its own foundations. For businesses and stakeholders, MBS 2025 offers several tangible value propositions: Policy Intelligence: gain insights into regulatory trends, infrastructure planning, and legislative shifts critical to mobility investments. Strategic Exposure: thought leadership, scenario planning, and competitive benchmarking beyond daily operations. Network Leverage: depth of access — from OEM C-suite to technology firms to government actors — opening doors for partnerships, investment, and collaboration. Content Longevity: recorded keynotes, slides, and materials will endure, making MBS a reference resource, not just a live event. Ecosystem Alignment: bringing together fragmented actors in mobility to foster alignment around standards, strategy, and shared goals. Challenges remain. The agenda is still in flux, meaning attendees must remain adaptable. Logistics of Detroit, legacy industry expectations, and maintaining inclusion for smaller firms will require careful curation and execution by CAR. In short, MBS 2025 aims to be more than a conference — it wants to be a turning point in mobility strategy. By marrying Detroit's symbolism with future-forward content, CAR seeks to reset how the auto/ mobility ecosystem convenes, defines direction, and collectively moves forward in an era of rapid transformation.
In this episode of Grit & Gravitas, Anne and Anne sit down with Kait Gillis, Owner of Nour Coffee, and Sara Firestone, VP, Community and Public Relations, Members 1st Federal Credit Union, for a conversation that blends business with deep purpose. Inspired by her daughter, Nour, who has Down syndrome, and driven by the reality that over 70% of people with disabilities are unemployed, Kait built a workplace where individuals with neurodiversity and typically developing peers work side-by-side, serve the community, and find belonging. “I couldn't change who Nour is because Nour is a perfect, beautiful angel, but I could try to fix the world for her a little bit,” Kait shares. With a strong financial relationship and support from Members 1st, Nour Coffee has become a true third space, sourcing from local, small businesses and now Kait has launched a nonprofit, Nouri's Place, to foster social connection and family resources. The conversation covers growth and grit beginning with Kait's path from Wall Street to workforce inclusion, to business vitamins about staffing and product standards that match the mission. You'll also hear about recognition from PA Governor Josh Shapiro and First Lady Lori Shapiro, and Kait's invitation to join PA's Workforce Development Board. As Members 1st proudly watches Nour flourish, Sara says, “I have the good fortune of seeing the good that's happening in our community every day.” “I think as more folks are exposed to the benefits of employing somebody with a disability, the timeliness, the desire to work, the never calling off, never showing up late—it's really beautiful,” says Kait.
Delanie Fischer chats with John Wang, author of Big Asian Energy, about confidence, culture, and the power of conversation. They unpack how cultural conditioning, fear, and the desire to be "good enough” shape identity and self-worth. John shares the lessons he learned from his year-long experiment in radical honesty—during which he came clean to friends and family about past lies and committed to always speaking his mind in every interaction—and reflects on how this experience led to deeper connections and a new way of being. Guest Bio Linda Du is the founder of Moola Money, a FinTech startup providing financial guidance for millennials. A British-Chinese first-generation immigrant with an engineering degree from Cambridge and MBA from Yale, Linda spent 4.5 years at McKinsey advising global banks before leaving to build her own ventures. Her international journey spans London, Dubai, Berlin, and Silicon Valley, bringing a unique global perspective to democratizing financial literacy. She also runs Okta Investment, applying over a decade of retail investing experience. Episode Summary Linda shares her journey from McKinsey consultant to FinTech founder, driven by an embrace of chaos and the "outsider advantage." We explore how being perpetually foreign shaped her ability to navigate uncertainty, why Germany's Industry 2.0 mindset struggles in today's volatile world, and how undiagnosed ADHD led to burnout but ultimately revealed her entrepreneurial superpowers. Linda reveals why even high-earning professionals struggle with personal finance and how transparency—not complexity—is the key to financial empowerment. Key Takeaways The Outsider Advantage: Being perpetually foreign gives you permission to shape your own identity and break cultural norms—a superpower for founders Chaos Over Control: In a world of infinite unknowns, the ability to navigate chaos beats trying to control outcomes De-risking vs Control: Instead of trying to control everything, focus on reducing risk while maintaining flexibility Purpose + Lifestyle: Sustainable work comes from both caring about what you do AND designing a lifestyle that supports your neurodivergence Financial Transparency: People's finances are often better than they imagine—they just need clarity, not more complexity Memorable Quotes "I embraced the fact that I would always be an outsider. And there's actually a lot of incredible power in that because people can't really expect you to fit into cultural norms." "Risk equals reward, but it's about how do you be smart in taking that risk?" "I see so much opportunity for international collaboration... but I feel like we're going in another direction where countries and states are starting to say, let's do things our way." "If you didn't have to work for a living, what would you do with your time?" Scott blends his academic expertise with real-world experience advising organizations—from startups to the White House—to uncover how biology shapes leadership and team performance. Drawing from both personal health insights and decades of research, Scott introduces “leadership biodynamics,” a model that reframes executive presence into measurable signals of warmth, competence, and gravitas. With 18 behavioral biomarkers and a practical diagnostic framework, leaders can finally translate the vague idea of presence into actionable skills that inspire trust, connection, and results. Undulating waves of crystalline fragrance burst from Floret Loret's sonic greenhouse. The multi-sensory experience of Fernando Loret de Mola's catalog is a tribute to his careful cultivation of a sound that bathes in natural beauty but also pulls from a dark, industrial cityscape. Carving his niche amongst a rising generation of experimental bass producers, Loret de Mola sets himself apart by introducing lush, hypnotic melodies into a scene so often dominated by singed and smoking sound design. Floret Loret dares to let his delicate compositions bloom amongst the jarring forays into brooding low end, and the result is an unpredictable and often heterodox bouquet of swirling colors and textures. Cross-pollinating sound design die-hards and melodic bass acolytes seeded a rabid fan base that brought his music to the attention of Deadbeats, which released his 2019 EP, Secluded Garden. Label heads Zeds Dead then tapped Floret Loret for the collab “Reason” from their We Are Deadbeats Vol. 4 compilation, an elegant arrangement of glistening themes that dance and twirl between shimmering rays of light and ponderous darkness. It's been a prolific run for Loret de Mola, who has released singles on Quality Goods Records and Electric Hawk, EPs on mau5trap and Bassrush, collaborated with progressive contemporaries Siska, Silva, Low Poly, and CAPSHUN (the latter of which was handpicked by CloZee for her Gravitas comp), and landed coveted festival slots at Okeechobee and EDC. Sprouting from a bleak live show landscape, Loret de Mola landed high-profile dates with Minnesota, Chee, and a featured role at Infrasound Music Festival and Shambhala. Tastemakers forging the next frontier in the left-field electronic space are flocking to Floret Loret's field to bask in his creations. To learn more visit: https://open.spotify.com/artist/1SOahWJen3CxHs0e9eCmFe?si=a__4bwsHRDC2srR2PWOspw

I think gravitas is a rare but really important attribute to have, especially when the world is so fucked up, chaotic, volatile, reactionary. Gravitas. Presence. I wanna be around people that have the ability to give off positive energy in this way.Scott Osment is one of the most blistering, powerful and accurate drummers I have seen. I've seen him in two very different bands – Deaf Club and Glassing – and I've yet to see him in Planet B – maybe in 2026??!! Each band has their own style and his adaptability to their styles blows me away. For me, Scott also has that presence that I was talking about earlier. You always feel that whatever the situation, obstacles, whatever, he will find a way – fuck it, let's try this, nah, we're good, let's go, yeah, I'm up for that. That willingness to try and if it doesn't work out, so what? Try something else. Again, I just think the ability to show calm and level headedness is kinda a superpower.I mean, I even put away my own insecurities when I asked him if he wanted to do this podcast – no mean feat - cos I really did think he would say yes. And he did!Enjoy!https://www.iwannajumplikedeedee.comI Wanna Jump Like Dee Dee is the music podcast that does music interviews differently. Are you living from your wounds or your righteousness? In today's episode of Tent Talk Podcast, we continue to explore the journey of maturing as sons and the power of being pierced by the revelation of our righteousness. Too often, we let our past wounds and sins define us, keeping us in spiritual infancy. But God is calling us to grow up - to move from milk to meat, from being unprepared for battle to becoming skilled warriors in the faith. The key? Allowing ourselves to be pierced not by our old wounds, but by the revelation of our righteousness. It's time to become the 'professors' - the mature sons - who can instruct and encourage others. It's a milestone day here at Grit & Gravitas as Anne & Anne welcome their first male guest on the podcast in four years—Mike Wilson, President & CEO of Members 1st Federal Credit Union. “Members 1st comes from humble beginnings,” Mike says. “Seventy-five years ago, 9 people put money into a pot to lend each other money to buy appliances during the war, and that's how Members 1st got started.” By harnessing what Mike calls the Culture of We, this community-favorite credit union is 600,000 members strong and has $8 billion in assets. As an Army Brat, Mike learned from an early age the value of building relationships. “I speak to every single person the first day they start at Members 1st,” he says. Come along with us for an action-packed 30 minutes on leadership, communication, and inspiration. “Always talk to strangers,” Mike advises. “If I ever wrote a book, that would be the title.” Welcome to the G&G Tribe, Mike!

For Tina, Brad, Stef and Jason, he's remembered simply as “Dad”—even though he left them orphans with a tarnished legacy when he murdered their mom before killing himself. Beneath the Shadow follows the children from their idyllic early lives to the night of the crime. In addition, you see decades into the future as they refused to succumb to despair and anger. That is because of the grandparents (parents to Martha). They raised them to forgive and move forward—with or without answers. Grandpa and Grandma Cline moved into the room where the murder/suicide took place. They raised the children and refused to disparage their son-in-law, Jim. The children excelled. Still, any understanding of the tragedy would elude them for decades. Make sure you follow Kevin on Instagram over at @kevpatrickallen. Go to the kppllc.net to learn more about Beneath the Shadow.
