Ruidoso, New Mexico, is reeling once again. After enduring destructive wildfires, the mountain community is facing an uphill battle of recovery after deadly flash flooding killed a man and two children. The Rio Ruidoso surged to a record-breaking 20 feet, five feet higher than last year's record, catching even prepared emergency crews off guard. Chris and Gabby speak with the Village Fire Chief Cade Hall, a lifelong Ruidoso resident, about what happened, and the heartbreak of not being able to save everyone. Chief Hall explains how the community is also bracing for more rain. With recovery setbacks, tourism threatened, and continued risks, will people rebuild? Is the village re-thinking its alert system? According to CNBC's "Best States for Business" 2025 report New Mexico is among worst states. That's troubling, but what is really concerning is how fast it has fallen in the report over the past decade. The US Supreme Court lets Trump fire Education Department employees. Is it finally the end for USDOE? The recent Ruidoso flooding is yet another blow to one of New Mexico's prettiest communities. Paul and Wally discuss. Santa Fe tops Travel & Leisure list. Wally and Paul explain why Santa Fe performs well on tourism lists, but not in the data WE care about. A recent KRQE story covers problems with the commercial real estate valuation situation. Paul also has received information from a residential property owner who recently challenged his property taxes. Albuquerque is working to increase bus safety while the situation has deteriorated thanks largely to the "free" bus program.
Recent flash floods in Kerrville, Texas; Ruidoso, New Mexico; Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and along the East Coast have made sensational headlines in recent days as tidal waves of roaring water has seemingly appeared out of nowhere. 115 so far are dead in Texas, untold number of deaths in North Carolina, 3 people died in Mexico. What role might chemtrails and cloud seeding play in all this? As it turns out, a lot, and that's the memo.“He gave them hail for rain, and flaming fire in their land.” Psalm 105:32 (KJB)On this episode of the Prophecy News Podcast, Augustus Doricko knew when he founded cloud-seeding start-up Rainmaker in 2023 that he'd have to contend with misunderstandings and conspiracy theories surrounding the technology. Still, he wasn't quite prepared for the sheer volume of online fury he has faced in the wake of the catastrophic Texas floods that have killed more than 100 people and nearly twice that many missing. Doricko and his company, Rainmaker, have become a focal point of posts spiraling across social media that suggest the floods in Kerr County were a human-made disaster. An array of influencers, media personalities, elected officials and other prominent figures — including Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia) and former Trump adviser Michael Flynn — have publicly raised the possibility that cloud-seeding operations like Rainmaker's might have caused or at least exacerbated the historic deluge. Is there any truth to all this? Today we take a deeper look into the weather, and the people lurking the shadows who insist on manipulating it for control and profit.
Search and rescue operations are still underway after catastrophic flash flooding swept through Ruidoso, New Mexico, killing three people, including two children, and destroying homes and vehicles, leaving a tourist-dependent mountain town once again in crisis. Also, blistering sun and July heat and humidity will provide challenges for recovery and cleanup efforts. While a break from the rain is wanted and underway, the sun and heat can be brutal during July, and the days ahead will be no exception, even though conditions will be fairly typical for the time of the year. Lou DiVizio opens the show with news from around the state. Then, we turn our attention to federal cuts made to AmeriCorps, the government agency that's trained generations of Americans to help others. Until recently, AmeriCorps employed thousands to help others statewide — from Taos to Ruidoso, and in cities and pueblos in between. Now, the federal agency is a shadow of what it once was, as most of its staff have been fired and millions of dollars in federal grants have been axed. Host Nash Jones speaks with U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich, D-N.M., to discuss President Trump's gutting of AmeriCorps, and what he and the state are doing about it.The Albuquerque Sign Language Academy is one of several local programs hit hard by the AmeriCorps cuts. Jay Block, R-Rio Rancho, introduced a bill during this year's legislative session to create a program similar to the Department of Government Efficiency. In the summer of 1945, a group of young teenage girls were away on Dance Camp in the scenic desert landscape of Ruidoso, New Mexico, when they encountered a bizarre incident. In the middle of the night, they were awoken by a strange, bright light, and a booming sound in the distance. When they stepped outside hours later, they noticed that fine, white particles were falling from the sky; and began to play with it as they thought it was some kind of miraculous desert snow. The repercussions of this incident wouldn't be felt until later. Farm animals and crops in the vicinity began dying of unnatural causes. People got sick, and just a few decades, all but 2 of the teenage girls had died from various cancers. Tune in to find out more. Also, this was supposed to be a bad monsoon season in New Mexico. So far that has not been the case. Paul is heading to Ruidoso for a talk tonight. This will be his first time in Ruidoso since the fires this summer.

Welcome to episode four of our Fire in the Southwest Series, supported by the Southwest Fire Science Consortium as well as the Arizona Wildfire Initiative! Today's guest, Zander Evans, is the executive director of the Forest Stewards Guild, which has a mission of promoting ecologically-, economically-, and socially-responsible forestry as a means of sustaining the integrity of forest ecosystems and the human communities dependent upon them. Based in Santa Fe, New Mexico, the Guild's team—including Zander, who has worked there for over 17 years—has seen the first-hand impacts of some of the most destructive wildfires of the last two decades, including the 2022 Calf Canyon/Hermits Peak Fire.Zander and Amanda spoke about the role of the Forest Stewards Guild in helping provide more capacity for often resource-strapped agencies, as well as how their roles are shifting with the legacy and rise in megafires like the CC/HP Fire. We discussed the Guild's objective to connect work on the ground to policy, while creating a network of land stewards that can learn from each other and share resources, lessons learned and other critical information that can help others dealing with similar issues across the country. We covered a lot in this episode, and in classic form, Amanda asked many difficult-to-answer questions that Zander did a great job of tackling—including questions about trauma-informed community engagement, how to continue to get good work done within a legacy of escaped prescribed fires and how communities can more effectively prepare for the "post-fire" piece of the resilience equation. Last week, we shared the first installment in Geoffrey Spangler's story. You learned that Geoffrey left his Las Cruces home on the morning of November 8, 2021. He planned to head out to Riudoso to stay in a cabin for several days. His family later learned that Geoffrey visited the White Sands Missile Range that day. He arrived there that morning but exited and entered a few times. He needed to contact his insurance company for proof of insurance to obtain a visitor's pass. Geoffrey was issued a pass at noon. The man who interacted with Geoffrey at the visitor's center said he saw Geoffrey's Dodge Avenger at the bowling alley that afternoon. However, it was gone when he drove by again. A receipt showed Geoffrey purchased two beers at the bowling alley around 6:15 PM. Where had he been on base between those times? Later, his mom, Tracie, was told that Geoffrey exited the El Paso gate around 7:30 PM. Not quite an hour later, Geoffrey showed up at the Pit Stop, a gas station in Oro Grande, where he purchased a couple of beverages. Geoffrey left, heading north toward Ruidoso, but Geoffrey never made it to the cabin and was never seen or heard from again. Almost a month later, someone found Geoffrey's car back down south on the outskirts of El Paso, Texas. Still, extensive searches of the area have yet to reveal a trace of Geoffrey Spangler. Today, we will look deeper at what was found on Geoffrey's electronics, video footage, and more about his interactions at White Sands Missile Range. If you have any information regarding the disappearance of Geoffrey Spangler, please contact the Las Cruces Police Department at (575) 526-0795.If you have a missing loved one that you would like to have featured on the show, please fill out our case submission form.Follow The Vanished on social media at:FacebookInstagramTwitterPatreonSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
