With a roster of talent including Jeremy Allen White, Lewis Pullman, Eiza Gonzalez, and Eric Dane, John is renowned for his transformative approach to the craft of acting. "Where ever you are is the right place, right time." In this thought-provoking dialogue, John delves into the roots of insecurity and the pursuit of the State of Play for performers. He shares his belief that there is no separation between life and art—our personal evolution as human beings is intricately linked to the development of our art. This symbiotic relationship allows experiences from life to enrich our art and discoveries through our art to further our self-awareness. John eloquently draws parallels between the exploration of children through play and the journey of artists, highlighting the importance of communion between the conscious and unconscious mind. As wounded healers and storytellers, John suggests that by encouraging this state of communion, we can transcend barriers, connect with others, and ultimately, find redemption --------------------------------- Music by Mitch Murder ►John'sWebsite: https://www.themarklandstudio.com/ ►Mike Pecci's IG: instagram.com/mikepecci ►Lance's Instagram: www.instagram.com/golancego/ ►ILWP's IG: instagram.com/inlovewiththeprocesspod

There's a lot that goes into writing and publishing your book. If you want to see the project through to the end, you need accountability. Sounds demanding, doesn't it? It doesn't have to be. Our guest this week, Don Markland, is here to tell you how to keep yourself accountable in a positive way. - - - [7:53] - “[Coming up with The 4 C's] was never about writing a book and selling them. It was ‘I need better accountability in my life.'” [9:54] - “For anyone who wants to write a book, don't stand at the bottom of the hill and look up and say, ‘There's no way.' Just put your head down and keep playing.” [12:27] - “Accountability applies to the decisions you make. And when you start from that premise, everything starts to change. You start to do more of what is right and less of what is wrong.” [15:32] - “The first thing to remember about the writing process is that perfection doesn't exist.” [22:21] - “Harry Potter 1 is nowhere near as good in quality as Book 6 and Book 7 — nowhere. And that's because of the refinement process you take in writing.” [25:23] - “If you're an aspiring author, you have to surround yourself with positive momentum. Success leaves clues.” - - - Don's books can be found on Amazon or on his website, https://www.accountabilitynow.net/ Join 194,000 people who follow Don on Instagram — @executivecoach.don Don's Forbes articles can also be found here: https://www.forbes.com/sites/forbesbusinessdevelopmentcouncil/people/donmarkland/?sh=73fe4f0d70e3 - - - Don's book propelled his career, and so can yours. It's February, which means 2 things, Superbowl and the return of the blockbuster! Blockbusters used to be reserved exclusively for the summer but they start as early as February now, and we're kicking it off with the return of the one, the only, M. Night Shyamalan, with his 15th feature film, Knock at the Cabin! The film marks the first time Shyamalan has worked with on the rise superstar Dave Bautista, who is attempting to distance himself from Marvel and set a new course for himself in Hollywood. The film covers four people who commit a home invasion on a gay couple (Ben Aldridge, Jonathan Groff) and force them to make a choice to ritualistically sacrifice one of them, or risk the eternal damnation of the world. For a Shyamalan movie, it gets back to a lot of the deep, emotional core that made his early movies so good, while also managing to tie itself into a twisty little tale about morality along the way. Everyday Acupuncture Podcast
EAP-099 Why Try Acupuncture? I Already Feel Healthy! with Heidi Markland LAc.

Everyday Acupuncture Podcast

Hi, this is Heidi Markland with Ancient Spring Acupuncture in beautiful Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Today I'm gonna talk about a question that I often get asked when someone first finds out that I'm an acupuncturist. So, while most people are familiar with the idea of acupuncture treating pain, many people ask what if I feel pretty healthy overall, why should I try acupuncture? First, if we look at the historical Chinese texts about acupuncture, we know that it was originally used as a preventative medicine. Dating back to 3 rd century B.C., the Yellow Emperor's Classic speaks of treating disease by preventing illness before it even begins. 1 Chinese medicine is about keeping the body in balance. A good practitioner does this by observing a patient. So, imbalances can be seen in inspecting facial complexion, body type, fingernails, tongue appearance, and feeling the patient's pulse, among other things that we can observe. Let's look at an example of someone with very few to no health complaints. She's an active 56-year-old that seeks acupuncture because she wants to be able to stay as active as possible. In looking at her fingernails, one may notice some dryness and brittleness. Her complexion may show some redness in the cheeks and the tongue may be slightly redder than average. Along with some patient questioning, we may want to start acupuncture treatment focused on nourishing the yin. This will help prevent further imbalance and because the patient wants to stay active, we would also add points that support the sinews and muscles. Furthermore, the patient wants to make sure that her thinking remains sharp so we can add points to actually boost brain and marrow. Maybe the patient mentions that she feels her eyesight is beginning to lose its sharpness. We can add points for that! We can add points to help clear the eyes and strengthen them. If you're looking for more scientific reasoning……well, research shows that the insertion of acupuncture needles can create effects due to modulation of the somato-sensory system and of the autonomic nervous system. Have I lost you? Basically, this means that science proves that acupuncture has a whole-body effect by tapping into the nervous system. Ear acupuncture, specifically, has been shown to stimulate the vagal nerve, which is responsible for the regulation of internal organ functions. And if these reactions weren't enough, it's proven that the body releases feel good endorphins with the insertion of acupuncture needles. So, at the very least, you should leave an acupuncture session with a sense of well-being and stress reduction. [2,3] Do you have more acupuncture related questions? Be sure to subscribe to this podcast so you don't miss an episode about other essential Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine related info. 1.Ni M. Dom is joined by his "Euphoria" co-podcaster Josh Markland to break down the return of the final season of FX's critically acclaimed show "Atlanta." Created by, executive produced and starring Donald Glover, the show follows Glover's Earn, a Princeton dropout, as he manages his cousin Al aka Paper Boi's (Brian Tyree Henry) up and coming rap career in Atlanta, Georgia, along with Al's friend and resident stoner Darius (LaKeith Stanfield) and Earn's baby mom Van (Zazie Beetz). The show has had a critically acclaimed tenure, winning Glover an Emmy for best actor for the first season and earning many other accolades along the way. This year saw the return of both the season's 3rd and fourth seasons, with the third season airing back in the spring and taking place primarily in Europe, while this new season returns the characters to Atlanta. The show manages a rather interesting tone, bouncing back and forth between too real and surreal, with all the different scenarios and characters that Earn and the gang interact with providing an interesting reflection into African American relations in this country, without really having a direct point or message that it's trying to say. introverted marketing 101: how a new acupuncturist can get patients in the door their wayAre you an introvert and new acupuncturist wondering how you are ever going to get patients in your clinic? Are you afraid that you are going to have to be salesy and social? Does the word “Marketing” make you want to crawl under your treatment table? YOU ARE NOT ALONE!!! Most of us don't come by sales, marketing, networking and being overall entrepreneurial naturally. Especially introverts! This is mostly because historically when we talk about buying something we are also conversely talking about being “sold” to. And that conjures up visions of car salesmen chasing us around car lots. Guess what! Sharing your skillset and serving people who need you is just another term for sales. It's all in the delivery……. The internet has broken this marketing egg wide open for INTROVERTED ACUPUNCTURISTS! There are so many ways to reach the people you want to serve so that they hear you AND you get to be true to your own nature. In today's episode I interview new Acupuncturist Heidi Markland about her experience as an introverted new practitioner in a new town and how she has navigated marketing her acupuncture practice. We talk about SEO, networking with kind intentions, picking a niche market and patient retention strategies. Enjoy the show! today's guestHEIDI MARKLAND LAC., https://ancientspringacu.com/ (ANCIENT SPRING ACUPUNCTURE) Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/ancientspringacu/?hl=en (@ancientspringacu) Heidi embarked on her journey to better health after experiencing chronic fatigue for many years. She found increased energy and well-being after a family member, that was trained in Acupuncture and herbal Chinese Medicine, treated her with a regimen of herbs and food therapy. This began a journey of self-study into nutritional healing. The book “Healing with Whole Foods” became a staple that she read from cover to cover. This book introduced many core beliefs of Chinese Medicine and the idea of keeping the body in balance. She finally transitioned from a corporate job to a full-time student at the American College of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine (ACAOM), in Houston Texas. She fell in love with the beauty and culture of Coeur d'Alene while visiting family over the years. Through prayerful consideration and the new acquaintance of a local acupuncturist, the path forward was clear, and she hasn't looked back.  Her clinic is now located in downtown Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. you'll learnHeidi has some GREAT SEO tips! We talk about some strategies Heidi has used to get patients that don't feel yucky to her. Are you moving? We chat about the challenges of moving somewhere that you don't know anyone. The Vikings were a seafaring people from the late eighth to early 11th century who established a name for themselves as traders, explorers and warriors. They discovered the Americas long before Columbus and could be found as far east as the distant reaches of Russia. While these people are often attributed as savages raiding the more civilized nations for treasure and women, the motives and culture of the Viking people are much more diverse. These raiders also facilitated many changes throughout the lands from economics to warfare. The Vikings set up colonies on the west coast of Greenland during the 10th century. The Viking sagas tell of journeys they undertook from these Greenland colonies to the New World. They mention places named "Helluland" (widely believed to be Baffin Island), "Markland" (widely believed to be Labrador) and "Vinland" (a more mysterious location which some archaeologists believe could be Newfoundland). --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/john-kaires/support

This is Part 3 of our 4 Part Series on Job Hunting:•Part 1: the LinkedIn Power Profile vs the Resume;•Part 2: Job Hunting vs Applying, •Part 3: The Magic 4-Step Interview•Part Four: Follow Up and Mindset Here is what one person said going through this method:“I had an opportunity to interview for a new position, and I have not been in the job market for a long time. I knew I was rusty, so I seek out Don for help. Don helped me put together a 'story line' that clearly laid out my professional life, and not just talking points. The story line is logically laid out, and truly afforded me the best vehicle to deliver the best of my professional and personal experience. I would strongly recommend Don Markland if you are looking for a career coach. I definitely would leverage Mr. Markland's services again.”In a survey from FAST Company in 2019, they illustrated that more than half of all recruiters cite the number one trait they look for when finding a strong candidate is “high potential.” This includes problem-skills, the willingness to learn, and the ability to make decisions. Further, Eric Wargo from Psychological Science.org suggests that people make their first impressions of you in the first seven seconds. So now you've got some data. You have to demonstrate high potentional, problem-solving ability, a willing-ness to learn, and the ability to make decisions, all in the first seven seconds. How do we do that?Step #1 – The Meet and GreetThis is all about asserting dominance and demonstrating potential and letting them know you stand out from the crowd. •Rule #1: Be the Alpha and be the First to Speak. If you are walking into an office to meet an interviewer or joining a phone call, do not wait for them. Start the conversation first. “Hi, this is Rebecca, right?” Demonstrate you want to own the conversation. Not in an aggressive way. But in a confident way.•Rule #2: Speak with Confidence Always. Remember, you have a great story and and I tell my clients to imagine they have already won the interview. Imagine as if they already told you that you are hired but want to recap everything for documentation purposes. In this process, you have everything to gain and nothing to lose. •Rule #3: Use a firm Handshake (or if over the phone), and demonstrate early and genuine gratitude: “thank you for this opportunity. I'm really excited to share some thoughts and ideas about the [insert position] and see if this is the right fit. This is already planting seeds that you feel good about the position and feel confident you can do the role. In addition, you want to learn from them about their ideas which demonstrates a willingness to learn as cited before. Next, we will walk through your story. The number one most commonly asked question in an interview according to multiple sites, and its how nearly every single interview starts out, is:“Tell me about yourself.”I've heard this question blundered and messed up so many times. This question is gold! Which leads us intoStep #2 The Hero's JourneyBefore you get to the interview, you will know this “Tell me about yourself” question is coming, so I'd take time to prepare this part of the process.Don't give a long list, job by job, of what you've done. That is boring and exhausting. Use the Hero's Journey Method. The Hero's Journey should only take 3-4 minutes and should be a very tightly prepared script you've memorized. This is your story. You should know it by heart. And remember, it's stories that make us memorable. That's what will connect them to you. Next, we will move into what's called the Lob & Volley portion of an interview. Here is when interviewers ask you a series of questions about your experience and you respond with answers. Step #3 Answer Problems with Stories Remember this, stories are memorable. Answers are not. Every question, should have a story associated with it in some way. For example, when they ask you about your experience with XX type of work, When asked, do have any experience with XX type of work? Your response could include, “Actually, that reminds me of how I used to work with…” and continue with the story. This gives you a chance to demonstrate who you solved problems or did something incredible. Keep your stories focused on problem solving and under three minutes long. You will want to rehearse stories and have 5-6 stories prepared from your history that demonstrate a wide array of problem solving. The Final Step #4 Is Asking Dynamic Questions. Be focused on the emotional ego of the interviewer not necessarily you getting answers. Kate Markland - The Markland Clinic, Founder, The Markland Method, Cotswold Leisure Centre, Cirencester, UKI have been a successful hands-on Physiotherapist for many years and have always believed Contemporary Healthcare should be delivered in an inspiring, energetic, caring and professional way, for both the clients and the team alike. During a period of personal reflection and change, I realized I was a liability to my own business and that the safest option was to trust and support my team with a system they could understand and connect with. My goal was to enable my team to confidently run AND grow the business profitably without me physically being present all the time. After much research, I was unable to find a course or program that was suited to what I needed because much of what already existed simply lacked the basic fundamentals of assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and outcome.Disappointed in what I found, I decided to create a system teaching clinicians the anatomy and physiology of business so they can apply their clinical reasoning skills to their business and create healthy sustainable profitable clinics.  There is relative decrease in social funding for non-emergency healthcare and increase in privatization of healthcare delivery.  Small clinic businesses lack business education in language they can relate too.I named the program The Markland Method – a biological model for running a profitable business in a language that healthcare businesses already understand. The Markland Method value proposition is teaching clinicians the fundamentals of how to run a business and how to apply their knowledge of structure and function, and the principles of business assessment, diagnosis, treatment, outcome.”You can learn more about The Markland Method by clicking here: https://marklandmethod.com
