Our next guest is an absolute titan of modern guitar. She is a Berklee College of Music graduate who went from tearing up the solo underground to sharing stages with icons like Steve Vai and Guthrie Govan. Whether she is shredding animated metal riffs on tour with Dethklok, holding down the stage with Danny Elfman, or shooting 10-foot flames out of her guitar in Las Vegas for Cirque du Soleil's Michael Jackson ONE, her precision and melodic voice on the instrument are unmatched. She is fresh off the release of her incredible, synesthesia-inspired fourth studio album, Eventide, and she finally has her brand-new, ultra-purple signature Ibanez guitar, 'The Answer,' in her hands. Today on Verbal Shenanigans... the phenomenal NILI BROSH!" We also talk about a tree hitting Scott's house, tell some tales of gross comics and play a game called "Axe or Ailment." Have a listen!

The A2 protein variant was identified back in the 60s as a genetic difference among cattle. Recent consumer interest has driven a demand for A2/A2 milk, resulting in increased prevalence in the dairy industry. Acknowledging the importance of protein in cheese production, food scientists have worked with cheese makers to both identify and reduce the impact of A2 on cheese yield. Beyond yield impacts, Dr. Ibanez and his team of researchers at the Center for Dairy Research wanted to better understand specifically how proteolysis differs when casein proteins change and if this knowledge can ultimately be used to improve the human health impacts of cheese. Chasing Tone - Guitar Podcast About Gear, Effects, Amps and Tone
Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 613 of the Chasing Tone Podcast - who is the world's smallest pedal builder, and has Blake finally submitted to the dark side? We open with a tribute from Brian and some sausage recommendations, and there is a bit of bro-love as we look at the hot topics in the guitar world this week. There was some sad news in the gear world, and it has led Richard into some new GAS for a classic amplifier.Ross Pedals has relaunched - again - and the guys dig into what is going on without any form of expertise but a lot of enthusiasm. The Guitar Geek released a video about what may be the ultimate tremolo system for Brian, and he is audibly excited before the podcast takes a dark turn.Fender has made a branding move with new interfaces which Richard thinks is a home run, so the guys discuss it. Meanwhile Brian has been "Glamping" and breaks down his recent expedition. Guitar Center is looking to build their own guitars and the guys debate what this might mean. Blake has acquired a modeler and Richard is the cosmic donkey.Bri humor, Ibanez, Dog scat, spoons, Logan Paul's UFO disclosure... it's all in this week's Chasing Tone!We are on Patreon now too!Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/chasingtonepodcast)Courses and DIY mods:https://www.bluesguitarmethod.com

After starting her business as a translator and proofreader, Mireia Ibanez has transformed her business. Now, she spends most of her time teaching and has made it more sustainable. First, she made a commitment to post every week on Instagram and soon had a following. Next, she started offering group classes and asynchronous teaching options. She had to overcome perfectionism and stop overdelivering, which took a lot of mindset work. But through coaching, she was able to make the changes she'd been seeking. crema catalana website

What happens when heavy riffs meet raw emotion? This week, Don and Dude dive into two landmark albums that launched Nu Metal from underground oddity to global phenomenon, blending hip-hop, metal, and vulnerability in ways rock had never witnessed.Born in the late '90s, Nu Metal fused bruising guitar riffs, hip-hop swagger, and electronic experimentation, connecting deeply with fans wrestling alienation, trauma, and identity. These albums didn't just soundtrack angst, they rewrote heavy music's rulebook.Korn – Korn (1994)Background: Debut record by Bakersfield's five-piece, produced by Ross Robinson at Indigo Ranch, captured mostly live for maximum intensity. Jonathan Davis's anguished vocals, Fieldy's clacking bass, and down-tuned Ibanez 7-string guitars created Nu Metal's foundation.Sound/Legacy: A claustrophobic nightmare of sludgy riffs, twisted nursery rhymes, and unfiltered emotion—Korn's first single “Blind” became a genre's birth cry, while “Daddy” redefined honesty in heavy music. The album's “bounce metal” sound, real-time aggression, and confrontational lyrics inspired an army of imitators.Key Tracks: “Blind,” “Shoots and Ladders,” “Faget,” “Clown,” “Helmet in the Bush,” “Daddy.”Linkin Park – Hybrid Theory (2000)Background: Los Angeles band, renamed and reimagined when Chester Bennington joined, fused emotional rock, rap, and DJ effects for a style that stormed radio, MTV, and the hearts of millions. Producer Don Gilmore's perfectionist approach resulted in a polished sonic punch.Sound/Legacy: Hybrid Theory delivered universally relatable lyrics—paranoia, frustration, failure—through a seamless interplay of Mike Shinoda's rap and Chester Bennington's soaring melodies. Every song packs arena-ready hooks and emotional weight, making the album a nu metal, rap-rock, and emo touchstone.Key Tracks: “Papercut,” “One Step Closer,” “Points of Authority,” “Crawling,” “In the End,” “A Place for My Head,” “Pushing Me Away.”Diggin'Dude:Mirador – Mirador (2025)Debut from Greta Van Fleet's Jake Kiszka and company, recorded live, blending rock, folk, blues, country themes of myth, hope, and identity.“Feels Like Gold”The Go-Go's – Beauty and the Beat (1981)Punk to new wave classic, hit singles “Our Lips Are Sealed” and “We Got the Beat.”Don:The Pink Stones – Thank the Lord… It's The Pink Stones (2025)Athens, GA cosmic Americana, rootsy punk, country, and psychedelic mix.“If I Can't Win (With You)”Andy Bell – Ten Crowns (2025)Erasure frontman's third solo, produced by Dave Audé, mixes Eurodisco, synth-pop, gospel; features Debbie Harry.“Hearts a Liar”What song helped you survive your angsty years?Connect on Instagram, Facebook, Threads, and BlueSky @albumnerds or at albumsnerds.com. Malakian and his tech, Patrick Lachman, explained how some color-coded Gibson, Ibanez, and Friedman gear give Malakian the fire he needs to burn through the band's legendary set.0:00 - Mark Tremonti & D'Addario0:15 - Daron Malakian Guitar Solo Intro1:28 - Subscribe to Rig Rundowns!1:38 - Chris Kies Intro1:53 - Daron Malakian Running Into SOAD Cover Band in Chicago5:08 - History of Stolen Guitars6:46 - What Does Daron Malakian Need From His Guitar?9:36 - Songwriting Tools10:17 - Unexpected Guitar Influences12:29 - Pride in Writing 'Addicted to the Violence' Album17:11 - Musical Phases & Abstract Songwriting19:12 - Freedom in Creating Your Own Art20:31 - Gibson Flying V to Honor Albert King's Lucy21:29 - Daron Malakian Large Triangle Guitar Picks & Playing Style23:55 - Daron Malakian Guitar Solo 224:53 - D'Addario Players Circle Rewards25:54 - Guitar Tech Patrick Lachman26:21 - Gibson SGs27:28 - Daron Malakian Strings & SOAD Tunings28:20 - When Do Guitar Changes Happen?28:57 - Ibanez Iceman29:42 - Gibson Flying V (Honoring Albert King Lucy)30:10 - Gibson ES-35531:36 - Ibanez Iceman (Gold Binding)32:09 - Setting Up Guitars for Daron Malakian33:24 - Rack Gear35:07 - Friedman BE-100 & BE-100 Deluxe Amps36:29 - Speaker Cabinets & Speakers37:30 - EQ'ing Daron Malakian's Amps38:31 - Daron Malakian Pedalboard39:04 - MXR Smart Gate Pro39:47 - Orbel Babayan Controlling Daron's Effects40:45 - Daron Malakian Guitar Solo 341:58 - Joe Glaser & D'AddarioFull Rig Info: https://www.premierguitar.com/videos/rig-rundown/system-of-a-downSubscribe to PG's Channel: http://bit.ly/SubscribePGYouTubeWin Guitar Gear: https://bit.ly/GiveawaysPGDon't Miss a Rundown: http://bit.ly/RIgRundownENLMerch & Magazines: https://shop.premierguitar.comPG's Facebook: https://facebook.com/premierguitarPG's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/premierguitar/PG's Twitter: https://twitter.com/premierguitarPG's Threads: https://threads.net/@premierguitarPG's TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@premierguitar[Brought to you by D'Addario: https://ddar.io/wykyk-rrJoin D'Addario's Players Circle for free today to start earning points toward free gear: https://ddar.io/pc-rr]© Copyright Gearhead Communications LLC, 2025#guitar #systemofadown #rigrundown #guitarist #guitarplayer
