The things we really want in life often, ironically, prevent us from being truly happy. When we spend more time thinking about what we don't have rather than what we do, we get impatient and often dejected. And always thinking about the future means we're not living in the present moment. This is why we need to let go of our desires. Yes, you read that right. And no, I'm not implying you shouldn't desire things. I do. But the things we desire are part of our journey - one that takes time, effort and most of all, patience. And by assuring ourselves the things we desire simply haven't materialized “yet” inspires us to keep striving toward those goals while simultaneously honouring what's already present in our lives. In this episode, we're talking about: How to stop focusing on the future and trusting the journey What it's costing you you hang on to a desire Why wishing for something often means missing things altogether Why we sometimes desire the wrong things Why our impatience can actually delay us even more What to do when feeling FOMO (fear of missing out) Why is important to disconnect from social media to find presence Hope you connect with this episode, and would love to hear if you've had to let go of a desire, only to find it worked out better for you in the end! I'm back with another solo episode and it will be the last one for a while because as I declared in the title...I need a break! In this episode, I share: A reminder that Body Image Boost is still open for enrollment and getting started on Sunday August 1st (not Monday August 1st like I said in the episode - whoops!) Link below to sign up Why it's important for me to be honest and real with you about what how challenging 2021 has been for me How I've surrounded myself with support during this season That I, too, sometimes ignore my intuition and my body's requests for rest and nourishment Interrupting entrenched patterns of over-productivity, achievement and constant linear growth My desire for a spacious summer and truly giving myself the break I desire How I navigated the resistance that came up around making this choice Standing in my core values that a human beings worth is not defined by their output or any external factor Creating new generational patterns of nourishment and true self care I hope this episode serves you well! Jer and Kirk are joined by Justin Byrne (from episode 6) and Jack Burgess (from episode 12) to explore their experiences with non-dualistic thinking. They work through what it is, how they began to be impacted by it and why it matters. The conversation hits spiritual, relationship and political subjects and they try to understand the nature and value of either/or (dualistic) with both/and (non-dualistic) thinking. If you want to explore this subject further check out these links to some of the resources they talk about in this episode.
