PR becoming a critical strategy for visibility. In this episode, Morgan Norris, VP of Marketing at TREW, breaks down why PR matters more than ever and how to properly prepare subject matter experts and executives for media opportunities. One of the biggest shifts driving renewed interest in PR is the evolution of search and AI. Traditional website-first strategies are no longer enough. Today, brand visibility increasingly depends on being featured in trusted third-party sources like technical and trade publications. These outlets not only influence human audiences but also shape how AI models surface and prioritize information. To take advantage of this, companies need to rethink how they prepare their spokespeople. For SMEs, success starts with thoughtful media training. That includes providing briefing documents with background on the publication, the editor, and likely interview angles. Even a short practice session can help reduce nerves. SMEs should come equipped with real-world examples: customer stories, performance data, or application use cases to bring technical concepts to life.On the other hand, executive interviews require a different level of preparation. Leaders must align on what information can be shared publicly, especially when it comes to company data. Morgan recommends preparing key facts in advance and developing three core stories executives can consistently return to during interviews. This ensures messaging stays focused, strategic, and impactful.Across both groups, one theme stands out: consistency. Without clear, aligned messaging, PR efforts aren't as effective. Michelle Mortimer and Louise Humphrey are joined by Lindsay, founder of Cani-Fit and a four-time British canicross champion. We chat about how the sport has grown and what really matters when it comes to training dogs and humans well. Lindsay shares how she found canicross in the early days, when there was very little support available in Scotland, and explains how that experience shaped the way she now coaches thousands of runners and dog owners through Cani-Fit. Lindsay talks openly about the early mistakes she made, what she has learned from working with all kinds of dogs, and why training should always be adapted to the individual dog in front of you. She also explains the difference between training recreationally and preparing for championship level competition, offering useful insights on intervals, hill work, race preparation, recovery, and why 'too much too soon' is one of the biggest mistakes beginners make. The episode also explores the family side of the sport, as Lindsay shares how her 10-year-old son is beginning his own canicross journey in a way that keeps things fun, social, and age-appropriate. It is a lovely reminder that canicross is not only about racing, but also about teamwork and community. Whether you are completely new to running with dogs or already immersed in the sport, this episode is packed with thoughtful takeaways. STRONG Life Podcast ep 550
In this week's episode, we start with insights on winter run training, including when to prioritize treadmill versus outdoor running, how to plan safe routes in snow and ice, what to wear, how to fuel, and other key considerations for durability in the cold, ice, snow, and wind. We then spend most of the episode with Katie's reflections on the parallels—and important differences—between labor & delivery and endurance racing, including managing uncertainty, focusing on process goals, building a flexible plan, and identifying what you actually need from your support team. Katie also shares early postpartum reflections on physical healing, sleep deprivation, motivation shifts, and how she's thinking about movement, systems, and self-compassion in this new phase of life. Throughout, we explore how endurance training mindsets translate to major life transitions, honoring different seasons, and redefining what “enough” looks like. People call me to discuss puppy training, and their entire focus is on potty training. This happens a lot. The goal of this episode is to shift new puppy owners' focus to the bigger picture of raising a puppy beyond potty training and crate training.A dog trainer can only provide tips on potty training, crate training, play biting, and other issues because we don't live with the dog. Most of the unwanted behavior stems from the environment and from the owners' lack of leadership. The bigger picture includes:Setting rules and boundaries, Creating a structured scheduleObedience trainingLeash trainingSocializationIt's impossible to potty train a puppy without all of these elements of raising a puppy. Work on everything at once, and you will spend very little time on potty training. Two things in particular help with potty training: 1) when a puppy can stay in one place, and 2) when your puppy is tired. The main thing you need to do for effective potty training is to control the puppies' space inside the house and NEVER take your eyes off of them unless they are in a crate just big enough for them to lie down. Above all, get rid of pee pads. PRO TIP: Monitor their water intake by giving them 1 ounce per pound of body weight. If your puppy weighs 10 lbs, give them 10 oz of water throughout the day. That means about 2 ounces of water five times a day. After they take a drink, they will need to go potty 2-3 times within the next hour. Support Dixie's Fight Against Heart Disease. Donate here. Modern athletes know that strength and endurance alone aren't enough. The ability to generate power efficiently, resist injury, and recover quickly depends just as much on the health of connective tissues—tendons, ligaments, and the extracellular matrix (ECM)—as on muscle strength itself. Yet, these vital tissues have long been misunderstood as relatively static and untrainable. The latest research proves otherwise: tendons and ligaments are remarkably adaptive, capable of remodeling and strengthening in response to targeted loading and proper nutrition. The white paper presented in this podcast distills more than a decade of cutting-edge research into a clear, evidence-based framework for improving connective tissue health and performance. Drawing on the work of leading scientists and sports medicine experts, it explains how short bouts of specific mechanical loading—paired with precise nutritional strategies—stimulate collagen synthesis, enhance tendon stiffness, and accelerate recovery. The paper also details the biological mechanisms behind these adaptations, offering a practical roadmap for both elite and dedicated recreational climbers. Whether you're looking to climb harder, rehab a connective tissue injury, or simply increase your resilience so as to stay injury-free longer, this research-driven guide provides the tools to do it. Listeners (and readers) will learn how to structure brief daily tendon-training sessions, time nutrient intake to maximize collagen synthesis, and avoid common anti-adaptive mistakes that slow recovery. Backed by peer-reviewed science and real-world application, this paper redefines how athletes can train smarter—and perform stronger—through the science of connective tissue optimization.
