One of Canada's finest golfers, Sandra Post recounts her final few years on the LPGA Tour by describing the transformational impact that David Foster and the Colgate-Palmolive Company had on women's golf in the 1970's and 1980's. Their sponsorship brought more fans and opportunities. Sandra's thoughts constantly return to the advice her airplane seat mate, Kathy Whitworth gave her once about what it takes to win. She remembers the kindness of her fellow players when it came to advice and counsel about golf and life. Marlene Hagge, Judy Rankin, Bob Rosburg were among others who helped along the way. Sandra Post concludes her life story, "FORE the Good of the Game."Follow our show and/or leave a review/rating on: Our Website https://www.forethegoodofthegame.com/reviews/new/ Apple Podcasts https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fore-the-good-of-the-game/id1562581853 Spotify Podcasts https://open.spotify.com/show/0XSuVGjwQg6bm78COkIhZO?si=b4c9d47ea8b24b2d Google Podcasts https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cHM6Ly9mZWVkcy5idXp6c3Byb3V0LmNvbS8xNzM3Mjc1LnJzcw About "FORE the Good of the Game” is a golf podcast featuring interviews with World Golf Hall of Fame members, winners of major championships and other people of influence in and around the game of golf. Winner of the 1968 LPGA Championship, Sandra Post takes us back to her first encounter with women golfers, a detour on a baseball spring training trip in Florida with her father, at age 5. Sandra befriended LPGA Founder Marilyn Smith at that event in 1953, met Babe Zaharias three years later and played in an exhibition with the great Kathy Whitworth. She won virtually everything in Canada as a junior golfer and reflects on the Canadian golf greats that preceded and followed her career. Sandra Post shares her earliest memories of golf as a young lady growing up in Canada, "FORE the Good of the Game."Follow our show and/or leave a review/rating on: Our Website https://www.forethegoodofthegame.com/reviews/new/ Apple Podcasts https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fore-the-good-of-the-game/id1562581853 Spotify Podcasts https://open.spotify.com/show/0XSuVGjwQg6bm78COkIhZO?si=b4c9d47ea8b24b2d Google Podcasts https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cHM6Ly9mZWVkcy5idXp6c3Byb3V0LmNvbS8xNzM3Mjc1LnJzcw About "FORE the Good of the Game” is a golf podcast featuring interviews with World Golf Hall of Fame members, winners of major championships and other people of influence in and around the game of golf. How can we ignore it? The biggest news in Canadian golf news, in sports news, is that Nick Taylor won the 2023 RBC Canadian Open held at Oakdale Golf & Country Club. We explore the win this week on the show; with personal insights on time spent with Nick in the past, how people reacted to the victory, and what it means for Canadian golf. Also, how the win saved a week that threatened to be overshadowed by other global golf news about a proposed alliance between the PGA TOUR, the DP World Tour, and PIF. It's a fun chat about a moment that will go down as one of the top ones in the country's long golf history. The balance of the show is packed with U.S. Open talk, regional discussions about junior golf, the Flagstick.com PGA of Ottawa Tour, a new initiative by Golf Ontario that is helping to introduce women to the game here in Eastern Ontario, and Scott shares some nuggets about recent stop-ins at a PLAY Junior Golf Tour event and a speaking engagement he did this past week for LPGA legend Sandra Post. We also discuss the Flagstick.com Shootout, bring you a golf tip from the Kevin Haime Golf School, and preview an interview for the next episode.

Gloria Ehret takes us back through her LPGA career which began with a confidence-building 5th place finish in the 1965 LPGA Championship, her first year on tour. That led to her one major win the following year at Stardust C.C. in Las Vegas. Gloria prevailed by 3 shots over the great Mickey Wright and earned her Most Improved Player on the LPGA Tour in 1966. Listen in as she recalls her wins and close calls and talks about many of the game's greats of that era. Some of her fondest memories come from the 2009 LPGA reunion she helped Sandra Post organize in Palm Springs where 100+ former players from the 50's, 60's and 70's gathered to remember and celebrate their times together back in the day. In episode number 2 of series 3, where I talk with different golfers, around the World on how they play golf and of course where they play golf, it was a great pleasure to be joined by our very first Canadian guest on the Hole In One Golf podcast Matthew Moffatt. As well as being a school teacher and also newly married (check out their story here: Mr & Mrs ) Matt has still found time over the past 11 years to support and work at The Trafalgar Golf and Country Club in Milton, Ontario, Canada. This is very close to Toronto and is great golfing country, as there are many other great courses in close proximity such as Royal Ontario and many others. Matt is currently working as an assistant in the professional shop at Trafalgar but he's also worked on the course, the range and in the clubhouse. You could say that Matt has a really special family connection to the golf club, his entire family also work at Trafalgar Golf & Country club and his Grandfather was also the club's engraver! Matt's new wife Mary, had never played Golf before but Matt is now of course getting Mary into Golf and they are sharing some great Golfing memories together! Matt tells some awesome #golfingtales from the Trafalgar Golf Club and we also discuss how the club bounced back from a fire which destroyed the Clubhouse, how they tackled #COVID19 and actually had their most successful year to date! We also discuss Trafalgar's awesome junior programme which has produced some serious talent recently. The club is also home to major winner Sandra Post . Matt also tells me the benefits of using Club Link and I try and get my head around only playing Golf for 6 months of the year, as well as the course having many many holes in one as well as eagles, albatrosses and cayotes!
