two & a half gamers

This week is one giant lesson in consolidation: everybody's buying everybody, the money is concentrating, the ownership is concentrating, and the people are getting cut. Tripledot bought Supersonic from Unity, Saudi Arabia closed the biggest leveraged buyout in history to take EA private, and Netflix gutted a studio seven weeks after praising its game on an earnings call.Matej Lančarič flies solo for the weekly news. Tripledot acquired Supersonic from Unity for $40M cash — a striking number given Supersonic likely did ~$40-45M in revenue over the last 12 months (per Sensor Tower plus ad revenue), and given ironSource paid $150M for it 11 years ago and Unity got it inside the $4.4B ironSource merger in 2022. It's the final piece of ironSource leaving the building — and the second time Tripledot has done this, after buying AppLovin's entire games business for $800M a year ago. The pattern is now complete: both AppLovin and Unity have exited game publishing to become pure ad-tech companies (ad networks make ads, publishers make games). That sale landed alongside Unity's best quarter ever (revenue $546M, up 24%, Grow segment up 35% to $389M on Vector AI, approaching GAAP profitability). Saudi Arabia's PIF closed its $55B take-private of EA (now delisted, ~93% PIF-owned with Silver Lake and Affinity Partners) — the largest LBO in history, with ~$20B in debt that will push EA hard toward recurring mobile and live-service revenue, plus a Vision 2030 soft-power dimension via EA Sports FC. Netflix's FIFA World Cup studio Refactor laid off 85% of staff seven weeks after Netflix named the game one of its most successful cloud debuts — the same praise-then-kill pattern as Squid Game Unleashed. And AppLovin posted a "miss that isn't a miss" (revenue up 53% to ~$1.92B, just under consensus). The through-line: the ad networks make ads now, the publishers make games, and the ownership of the whole industry is concentrating like never before.━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━⏱️ TIMESTAMPS00:00 A week of pure consolidation — everybody's buying everybody01:40 Tripledot buys Supersonic for $40M — the ironSource endgame05:30 The pattern: ad networks exit publishing06:40 Unity's best quarter ever — the Vector AI turnaround09:30 Saudi Arabia takes EA private for $55B13:00 The Netflix FIFA disaster — praised, then gutted17:30 AppLovin's Q2 — the miss that isn't a miss---------------------------------------This is no BS gaming podcast 2.5 gamers session. This week on the M2 Podcast, we break down one of the biggest business stories in gaming as Electronic Arts officially goes private following its acquisition by PIF, Silver Lake, and Affinity Partners, and discuss what that could mean for the future of EA's biggest franchises and AI-driven game development. We also dive into the surprising success of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, which has become one of 2026's best-selling games 14 years after its original release, proving that nostalgia remains one of gaming's strongest forces. Plus, we explore why great indie games are becoming harder to discover in today's algorithm-driven marketplace, and discuss leaked Xbox roadmap details that hint at expanded backwards compatibility, Xbox 360 support on PC, and long-awaited disc-to-digital features that could reshape game preservation over the next few years.0:00 Intro1:04 Update11:26 EA Announces Completion of Acquisition https://tinyurl.com/2wwf4xk5 23:42 Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Is One of 2026's Best Selling Games https://tinyurl.com/52b8mcmu 32:41 The industry makes great games https://tinyurl.com/mr2kja7z 50:44 Xbox's Plans For Backwards Compatibility https://tinyurl.com/bdf5j34j 1:01:15 OutroLEAVE A LIKE and a comment, thanks for watching/listening!-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------PODCAST                ►► https://anchor.fm/m2podcastAMAZON Music         ► https://music.amazon.com/podcasts/091902c3-b83b-487c-8fe7-4c96787434fe/M2-PodcastAPPLE                          ► https://podcasts.apple.com/podcast/id1531832410BREAKER                     ► https://www.breaker.audio/m2-podcast-2CASTRO                       ► https://castro.fm/podcast/6f69d373-d879-46d9-9f1c-bcf7c4bf1741GOOGLE                       ► https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cHM6Ly9hbmNob3IuZm0vcy8zNTYwNWZiMC9wb2RjYXN0L3Jzcw==OVERCAST                   ► https://overcast.fm/itunes1531832410/m2-podcastPOCKETCASTS           ► https://pca.st/5jghvf6eRADIOPUBLIC             ► https://radiopublic.com/m2-podcast-GMZkY4SPOTIFY                      ► https://open.spotify.com/show/2VedhO03IRoHERJqF6Sy87STICHER                      ► https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/m2-podcastTUNEIN                        ► http://tun.in/pj3ZI#podcast JOIN THE DISCORD!  ►► https://discord.gg/Kp5Gre6KyleHeath Socials:TIKTOK           ►► https://www.tiktok.com/@mrjkheathTWITCH          ►► https://www.twitch.tv/kyleheathTWITTER        ►► https://twitter.com/mrjkheathYOUTUBE       ►► https://www.youtube.com/MrJkheathMadMikeWillEatU Socials:TIKTOK           ►► https://www.tiktok.com/@madmikewilleatuTWITCH          ►► https://www.twitch.tv/madmikewilleatu/aboutTWITTER        ►► https://twitter.com/madmikewilleatuYOUTUBE       ►► https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1MoIvzyMDvH_5Ta

Allemaal in deze aflevering van All in the Game. Vragen? Mail ons! Op allinthegame@bnr.nl Over All in the GameAll in the Game is de podcast over games voor iedereen. Het komt allemaal aan bod in All in the Game. On Tuesday, Electronic Arts stops being a public company. Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, Silver Lake and Jared Kushner's Affinity Partners are closing a $55 billion all-cash buyout — the largest leveraged buyout of a public company in history — and PIF walks away with 93.4% of Madden, FIFA, Apex, The Sims, Battlefield and BioWare. So we spent half the episode on what that actually means: what going private does to a publisher, the $20 billion in debt that lands on EA itself, whether sports betting is the obvious way to service it, and what happens to queer characters in BioWare games under this ownership. Plus the question nobody answers honestly — is boycotting Madden a real position, or does it just feel good? Then the other half. Tarkov's first post-launch wipe and the Kord Breach seasons drop August 3, so we get into the state of the game right before it resets. Overwatch Champions Series is live in Paris, and the jetpack cat strat does not translate to Silver. And Baldur's Gate 3's new true third-person camera mod set the internet on fire — someone told modders to be nuked off the face of the earth over an optional camera angle in a single-player game. Lucien, who is dividing the summer weeks between Riyadh and the USA, and Hanaa, who is all over the world this summer and recording from another London heat wave, begin the episode with a catch up on a topical menu of excellence, which quickly turns into a realization about working weeks in two hemispheres and how the two-day weekend quietly disappears for those who work often travel between Saudi Arabia, Europe, and the U.S. - no doubt a problem for many who listen to the show.  After a lengthy catchup, Hanaa's discusses her recent hosting of the Middle East Sports Investment Forum at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. She landed on a single thesis with co-host Kamil Badawi of Aspire, and it is the thing outsiders keep missing about doing business in the region. The hosts discuss what sports investment actually is and what it can mean. Lucien's discusses his recent on-stage interview with Danny Townsend, CEO of Surj Sports and PIF's investment arm for sport and his view on how Saudi investors are thinking about sports and economic growth.

Is the summer going to plan and/or should we be worried or not? What is the club aiming for next season, what is expected of the manager and does it align with expectations of the club as a whole? And what of the ownership - PIF and Hopkinson continue to talk of big ambitions but the lack of progress on infrastructure and what we are seeing suggest its all talk. A big thank you to Luke for talking to us fresh off the back of him publicly calling out a certain Spanish transfer news journalist... In this episode, Emma Beckmann explains why Consultative Selling starts by challenging assumptions, uncovering hidden business challenges, and reframing the conversation before proposing a solution. Harry sits down with Emma Beckmann, Group Chief Growth Officer at Landor, to explore why many B2B sales teams, agencies, and consultants accidentally commoditize themselves by responding to briefs at face value. From sales discovery and value based selling to proposal strategy, growth strategy, and trusted advisor relationships, Emma shares a practical framework for uncovering what clients actually need rather than simply delivering what they ask for.

We had a similar podcast with Stephen and Mick in June 2024 and we caught up to ask: What is taking so long and what if anything has changed in the last 2 years? Why is this so difficult and what are the limiting factors preventing real life progress? And How and when will the decision actually be made to take this forward - what are PIF actually waiting for and why does it look like they are looking for external funding? A great, if somewhat frustrating, discussion about a situation that is dragging on so long that its adding to the worries about the long term project at NUFC. LIV Golf is known for doing it big: big player contracts, big worldwide events and big prize purses (an average of $460 million annually). It has also received big funding from one particular source. As of February 2026, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) has pumped $5.3 billion into LIV. But this past April, the PIF announced that it would halt its funding of the league at the end of this year. The PIF’s exit leaves one big question mark hanging over the league: Can LIV Golf survive? In this episode of The Deal, LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neil joins Alex and Jason to address the skeptics. He tells us where LIV is cutting costs and how it is maintaining relationships with its big name golfers. O’Neil also explains why he is confident LIV will survive and how it will look different post-PIF. He also shares his pitch to investors and spells out the types of investors who are already interested in LIV 2.0.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

* Restano sotto osservazione i conti pubblici tedeschi.

On today's 15-minute briefing: Messi Makes History: The main event. Lionel Messi just does it again. He bagged a sensational hat-trick against Algeria and actually looks fitter now than he did during the 2022 run, even if he probably should have been sent off. He is now the joint-record World Cup goalscorer alongside Miroslav Klose with 16 goals. Can Argentina retain the trophy? Mbappe's Aura & the Olise Show: Senegal are a seriously great side, and Nicolas Jackson is definitely a much better player than he ever gets credit for. Up front for France, Kylian Mbappe is undeniably an incredible player, but he has that somewhat unpalatable aura reminiscent of Cristiano Ronaldo. Is it because he feels threatened by the quiet star of Michael Olise? Spain Stunned & Vozinha's Viral Boom: A completely mad result, and to be honest, I'm just not sure I'm having this Spanish side right now—they seem to completely lack a spark. Still, it's early days; Argentina lost their opener to Saudi Arabia in 2022 and went on to win the whole thing. The real story was Cape Verde keeper Vozinha. He was an absolute sensation and a total brick wall. His Instagram growth has been absolutely ridiculous, shooting up from around 50k to 7.6 million followers over the course of the game. Nice stuff. Egypt Grind with Belgium: Mohamed Salah is looking a bit washed to me, suffering from the exact same issue as Sonny—two remarkably similar, elite players who have simply been run into the ground. Egypt looked like a thoroughly competent side, and while there's nothing to suggest this post-'golden generation' Belgium team are anything special. Saudi Arabia's Minnow Myth: Another match completely defined by the shot-stoppers. Saudi keeper Mohammed Al-Owais was phenomenal, and I felt genuinely gutted for them when they finally conceded, though they at least held on for a well-deserved point against Uruguay. With the explosive growth of their domestic league and the financial focus from the PIF, you have to wonder how much longer we'll consider them a minnow nation. Haaland Terrifies & Iraq's Disallowed Screamer: Antonio Nusa looked lovely out there, and I can completely see why Spurs have been heavily linked with him. As for Erling Haaland, it's become so routine and almost boring to see him bag goals in the Premier League that the impact has faded a bit. But watching him on a completely different stage, terrifying a fresh set of international defenders, just reaffirms exactly how terrifyingly good he is. Meanwhile, Iraq scored an absolute screamer that was somehow not actually a goal. Austria's Vintage Bangers: Jordan and Austria treated us to a few absolute bangers, capped off by a great performance from Marko Arnautovic, who is still doing the business. I don't bring guests on often, but when I do, it's because something really special happened. What unfolded between us—the tears, the laughter, the absolutely unhinged wisdom that came through from my cat—felt too damn good not to share with you. This is a hilarious, hot, and deeply moving conversation. From Jersey's behind-the-scenes experience with my Telegram Day, her reason for stepping into my program Edge of Power to the moment Tahlia the cat telephathically requested snacks and offered kinky relationship advice, this episode is equal parts healing and unhinged—in the best possible way. Inside this episode you'll hear… What Jerzy got out of her Telegram Day with me and the one thing she says made the experience even better Why women need spaces where they can reveal the edgy thing without shame The power of Telegram coaching, audio intimacy, and being deeply witnessed by another woman Why Jerzy decided to join Edge of Power this summer and what pushed her over the edge to say yes What it was like being on the receiving end of Jerzy's intuitive animal reading The unexpected things my cat said that had me in tears and both of us laughing hysterically The grief story behind how Jerzy's gifts came online and launched her entire intuitive practice How animals act as spiritual teachers, emotional mirrors, and energetic stabilizers inside the home Why my cat has been trying to escape the house for years…the real reason behind it will genuinely surprise you CONNECT WITH JERZY JUNG  If this episode made you want to RUN (not walk!) to book an intuitive reading for yourself, a pet, or a passed loved one, I absolutely 10/10 recommend Jerzy.  I will absolutely be booking readings for myself, my dad who passed, and my three other cats. While men secure multi-million dollar business deals in between holes on the golf course and shake hands over top-shelf scotch and imported cigars in the private gentlemen's club... Get paid from pleasure. Network and secure connections, deals, clients, and investors (or serve your clients) in locations, experiences, and ways that are drenched in pleasure, play, luxury, leisure.  Why are men allowed to mix business with pleasure and it's considered standard business practice and professional...whereas, women are slut shamed, called a whore, and labeled unprofessional, lazy, and inappropriate? Why is it ok when men do it, but not ok when women do it?  That's the EXACT question at the center of this episode. And what I reveal will change how you view women, sex, money, and business. Women were taught to see pleasure as irresponsible, distracting, and unserious…while entire male power structures were built inside luxury, leisure, exclusivity, and indulgence. Mary Magdalene, Priestess Confessions & Being a Slut in Paris

What happens when you stop trying to be a good woman and finally let desire lead you? Well, I'll tell you… In this deeply personal episode, I share the story of joining a 15-month Mary Magdalene mystery school, the erotic synchronicities that are seducing me toward Paris, and the uncomfortable edge of fully owning myself as a Magdalene Priestess in public (not just online). We explore the fear of being seen as ridiculous, sinful, too much, too sexual, too weird—and why those very fears often guard the doorway to your next level of power. This episode is part priestess confession, part initiation, and part courtesan-coded manifesto for every woman who wants to own who she is and live a life dripping in pleasure, desire, and getting what she wants. Inside this episode you'll hear… Why the desire to be a slut in Paris became an unexpected initiation into deeper erotic power, pleasure, receiving, and devotion to Mary Magdalene The difference between treating priestesshood like an aesthetic… versus owning it as your actual life path and profession How women are taught to separate sexuality from leadership—and why Mary Magdalene threatens those systems The fears that surfaced around visibility, legitimacy, judgment, religion, and being perceived as "crazy," "cultish," or "playing pretend" How to turn shame, scandal, taboo desires, and the fear of being perceived in a bad light into world-shaping erotic power and influence She gets what she wants...if you're ready to command your hottest, deepest desires into existence (like I did with my desire to go on a Mary Magdalene pilgrimage in South of France and stay in a hotel near Moulin Rouge in Paris), come closer... The rooms you're in and the women you surround yourself with matters. Are you in rooms that have a mentor or community that will judge you for what you want? That can't hold nuance, duality, depth, powerful currents of energy, leadership? That ask you to leave your sexuality, kinkiness, desires, politics at the door when you log onto the Zoom call? Are you surrounded by women who want you to be a good girl who's miserable like them? Where sameness = safety Where they're more concerned with fitting in and being pleasing. Or are you in rooms where your hottest desires are the standard and norm? With a mentor and group of women who are thinking outside of the box and devoted to being their most powerful, free, erotic, satisfied, rich, hot, expressed, magnetic selves TOGETHER? Where your power could never be too much to handle, but everyone wants more for you? Where you can commune in eros and not feel like someone's in the corner jealous of your power and expression or thinking you're unprofessional? In the Edge of Power room, you'll be invited to explore the edges that hold your next evolution of power.  EARLY BIRD PRICING & PIF BONUS (RELAXED WOMAN $497 VALUE) END MAY 19 AT MIDNIGHT EST.    She Gets What She Wants 3 month 1:1 $2,222/month or $6,300 PIF Includes: 2 x 45-minute sessions per month Telegram M-F Edge of Power   Harlot 3 months 1:1 $3,000/month or $8,700 PIF 3 x 60 minute sessions per month Includes: Telegram M-F House of the Courtesan Edge of Power The Erotic Inheritance Mary Magdalene Harlot Codes Course  The Woman Who Commands: You hold the power to command your reality and bend the world to your will. Brendan! is back stateside and returns just in time for the seventh annual Zurich Classic Walk Up Music Quiz! Before we get to that, Andy is eager to discuss a bit of their trip to Scotland as part of the first-ever segment of "Pillow Talk." Brendan shares some shopping woes when trying to get gifts for his family and Andy is still reeling from his 24-hour travel day earlier this week. Brendan then calls Andy out for his new TaylorMade Spider putter, supplied to him by Big Equipment after he called for them to be banned on Tour earlier this year. After missing out on Wednesday's discussion about the "Pool Seen 'Round the World," Brendan gets some takes off about the Chevron's new "water installation" and Andy wonders how the LPGA can allow this to be the main storyline of the one major championship they own. He also takes some (deserved?) shots at the city of Houston, as well! Ian Poulter did NOT miss Wednesday's episode and decided to take to X, the Everything App, to cement his status as an impending PROBLEM on the Champions Tour. The Boys are praying that he will be their next guest for Lunch to break down his big debut at the US Senior Open in July. Andy and Brendan also discuss the ongoing LIV funding saga and doubt if anyone can even come close to replicating the purses that the PIF has funded in the last five years. Lastly before this episode's main event, PGA Tour is out of Hawaii and announced dozens of layoffs on Thursday as a cost-saving measure as the for-profit business moves forward. Andy and PJ went to town on the 2026 Zurich Classic Walk Up Music Quiz, peppering Brendan with songs for perhaps the worst field in PGA Tour history. Minneapolis considers first downtown indoor playground for winter play.Minneapolis city planners are considering an indoor playground downtown as they survey residents on whether the idea would bring more families to the area. The city is in the early stages of the idea and is asking residents about parking, security and spending habits. City planners are also asking about different parts of downtown as they study whether an indoor playground makes sense.“Where are you supposed to go in the winter… There's not too many places to take kids to play,” said Minneapolis resident Isabella Reichert, who works as a nanny.Places like that are already common in suburbs, including Edina and Eagan, but this would be a first in Minneapolis.Fox News chief political anchor Bret Baier has confirmed LIV Golf's financial backing from the Public Investment Fund (PIF) will come to an end after the 2026 season, delivering the clearest indication yet that the Saudi-funded breakaway league faces an uncertain future beyond next year.Baier, citing two sources with direct knowledge of the situation, revealed that while the PIF will continue to fund LIV Golf through the remainder of the 2026 campaign, its long-term financial commitment is set to be withdrawn as part of a broader shift in priorities. The funding through 2026 is expected to cover all major operational aspects of the league, including player contracts, television agreements and tournament staging.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Andy declares a "Victory Monday" despite not publicly submitting his "pick" of Matthew Fitzpatrick to win the RBC Heritage on Wednesday's episode. Constable Fitzy took down Sheriff Scottie Scheffler at Harbour Town after one playoff hole, securing his second win of the 2026 season. The three discuss Fitzpatrick's ascent to the top five of the OWGR after being outside of the top 70 at this time last year and how working with Mark Blackburn could be a perfect personality match for the Englishman. The crowd in Hilton Head broke out USA chants down the stretch on Sunday, leading to Jim Nantz dropping the word "jingoistic" on the CBS broadcast. Brendan also points out two other stories from the week in an ill-timed club toss from Max Homa and another disappointing showing from Tony Finau. Attention then shifts to a busy week at LIV Mexico City, where Jon Rahm won again and Bryson DeChambeau withdrew with a wrist injury after complaining about course conditions earlier in the week. What does this latest Rahm win mean? Will LIV actually be back in Mexico City next year? Will Scott O'Neil find funding to keep the league alive moving forward? Is LIV Golf really on the brink of collapse—or did one report send the entire golf world into a panic over something far more complicated? In this week's episode of The Golf Podcast we dig into the wild rumors surrounding LIV Golf and separate the speculation from what's actually happening. After reports and social media chatter suggested Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund could pull the plug on LIV immediately, we break down where those claims came from, why the expected “big announcement” never arrived, and what LIV CEO Scott O'Neil's response really did and didn't say. We also look at the league's current financial picture, including reports of rising sponsorships, ticket sales, and YouTube revenue, and ask whether LIV could realistically survive if PIF funding is reduced or eventually disappears. From Bryson DeChambeau's reported contract situation to rumors of behind-the-scenes talks with the PGA Tour, we explore what this could mean for the biggest stars, the future of merger discussions, and whether the PGA Tour now holds all the leverage. Most importantly, we discuss who would actually be hurt the most if LIV were forced to scale back or shut down, and why it may not be the names most fans expect. He's joined by Fried Egg Golf's Garrett Morrison, also known as his Golf Architecture 101 professor, for a deep dive into the last 48 hours of LIV Golf's existence. Starting late Tuesday night, rumors began swirling that LIV would be shutting down after the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia decided to pull its funding from the tour. PJ and Garrett run through a detailed timeline of the last two days, parsing through various reports to drill down to the facts as we currently know them. They then discuss some of the various questions that come with the PIF potentially shutting off the unlimited money faucet, such as will LIV Golf exist moving forward and how will they keep up with high-dollar purses and guaranteed contracts? These reports are a winding journey, featuring some of golf's preeminent journalists, a former ESPN NFL anchor, and even Rich Lerner dipping his toe into the prediction market sector.
