Trump was smuggled off Air Force One in a catering truck and flown out of Turkey on a secret military flight after a credible Iranian threat. You need to see how this actually went down. After the NATO summit in Ankara, cameras caught Trump boarding the older Air Force One. Minutes later, he and several aides stepped into an elevated catering container on the opposite side of the plane, got lowered to the tarmac, and driven over to a smaller C-32A. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth boarded that same secret flight separately so it looked normal. The press and some White House staff sat on the decoy plane with the window shades ordered closed, thinking the president was with them the whole time. The C-32A landed in Britain nine minutes ahead of the decoy. Trump then reappeared on the older jet before switching to the Qatari-gifted plane for the trip home. Intelligence flagged a specific Iranian plot against him. Israel had tipped the U.S. The White House did not deny the operation. In this episode we are joined by Richard Fisher (3-peat on the pod) looking back at 1926 as a pivotal year in golf, tracing the season from winter through autumn. We focus on the amateur game, the professional events, and the way golf fit into the wider sporting and political landscape of the year.We begin with the early amateur season, including the shared President's Putter at Rye and the Varsity match at Burnham & Berrow, where Cambridge win. We also discuss how much golf's leading amateurs play, the importance of caddies, and the many club and society matches that shape the year.We then move to the spring championships, including the arrival of Glenna Collett and other American women ahead of the Ladies' Championship, which is delayed by the General Strike. The episode also covers the amateur and professional championships in detail. We discuss Bobby Jones's remarkable Open qualifying round at Sunningdale, his victory at Royal Lytham & St Anne's, the Amateur Championship at Muirfield, George Von Elm's win in the US Amateur, and major professional events involving Walter Hagen, Abe Mitchell, and Sandy Herd... and of course the proto-Ryder Cup. We finish with the late-season fixtures, including the English Amateur, the US PGA and US Ladies' Championship, and the mixed foursomes at Worplesdon. We also reflect on the broader context of 1926: the rise of international golf, the role of the media, and how different the sport's structure and calendar were from today. 0:00 - Jeff Legwold will be at Broncos OTAs today! According to Leggy, the two biggest Broncos stories right now are Jaylen Waddle and Bo Nix's ankle. Is there anything else he'll be looking for? Also, in honor of Russell Wilson's retirement, does Leggy think Russ is a Hall of Famer. Even with how his career went post-Seahawks, did he still earn a gold jacket?16:50 - Guess what, guys! Brett thinks he "found something" with his golf game. Easy there, big guy. Famous last words. After that, the Knicks and Spurs battled it out last night in Game 1 of the NBA Finals. Brett noticed that both teams relied on depth! They didn't have a 7 ot 8 man rotation. They used 10 or more guys! That's what we wanted the NUGGETS TO DO against the Timberwolves! USE your depth! It's there! You have it! Why didn't they use depth in the first round, awhile New York and San Antonio are relying on their benches in the FRIGGIN FINALS??31:17 - LeBron has gotten super into YouTube golfers recently. A video emerged yesterday of King James hitting golf balls off a yacht in Italy. Knockin em into the ocean like he's Cosmo Kramer. Cool, man. That's Russell Wilson levels of cornball.
