With this week's episode, I was at a lost on what to talk about. I did a search through my Bible and prayed. While praying I started thinking about Christmas and boom the idea for this week's podcast started forming. So we are going about Jesus and Christmas. He was sent to earth to die for us. He took on the sins of the world. Romans 8:32 “He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?” God did not spare his son, he freely gave him up for us. Through Jesus God wants a relationship with us. But unfortunately we leave Jesus, our gift wrapped up in a feeding trough. We naturally focus on what we don't have and don't like How do we get rid of the default habit of dissatisfaction that destroys our hope for contentment? “A feeling of satisfaction” Having peace and hope in the moment, regardless of the moment I'll be satisfied when my life is “filled more” with _________________ Contentment doesn't come from consumption. Contentment comes from connection to Jesus. How do we get rid of the default habit of dissatisfaction that destroys our hope for contentment? One of them, when he saw that he was healed, came back to Jesus, shouting, “Praise God!” He fell to the ground at Jesus' feet, thanking him for what he had done. This man was a Samaritan. Luke 17:12-19 Jesus asked, “Didn't I heal ten men? Where are the nine? Does only this foreigner return to give glory to God?” And Jesus said to the man, “Stand up and go; your faith has made you well.” Luke 17:12-19 Let your roots grow down into him (Jesus), and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness. Colossians 2:7 When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners… But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 6:6-11 For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son. Romans 6:6-11 So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God… Romans 6:6-11 The Gospel is good news because God doesn't treat us as we deserve. Through Jesus - God unconditionally gives us love, grace, and goodness. Gratitude isn't ignoring pain or problems – it's being thankful for the reality that we get better than we deserve AND someday we'll have more than we can imagine. Ritual – daily habit, Refocus – intentional action, Rejoice – flip feelings Practicing gratitude towards God reverses our default dissatisfaction and allows us to experience the joy of contentment.

Peter introduces us to a new sermon series in 1 Corinthians. In this letter to a messed up church we are told that God’s grace, while not cheap, is not dependent on our behaviour but on our relationship to Jesus Christ. Through Jesus God’s grace is available to messed up churches and messed up individuals. No matter how we struggle in life God is powerful to work in our lives.

2010-05-02-1800 Pastor Loran Livingston is the speaker this evening May 2nd, 2010 in the 6:00 service. Scripture: Topic: God the Father Notes:- Afraid of God as a child; went to father for comfort- We teach character of God but leave out the fatherhood- I would never abandon my own children for anything they could do- We abandon people in the church for their mistakes- People are in the bondage of the law- We see people as belonging or disqualified based on a set of rules- We tend to see God as our earthly fathers: absent, abusive, unfaithful, temperamental, irresponsible, merciless, demanding- Through Jesus God has become our righteousness; we must not be scared when we go to prayer- He's gonna take a lot of us to heaven who've fallen flat on our faces- God sees all in the eternal now... yet He saved us; sees us thru Jesus- Worry is not a sin... not a demanding commandment but a loving encouragement.  He has everything under control
