The DILEMMA with legalism Legalism is a slow torture, a suffocation of the spirit. It is just enough religion to keep you, but not enough to nourish you. So you starve. For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.- Galatians 5:1 The DANGER with mysticism Let no one disqualify you, insisting on asceticism and worship of angels, going on in detail about visions, puffed up without reason by his sensuous mind,  and not holding fast to the Head, from whom the whole body, nourished and knit together through its joints and ligaments, grows with a growth that is from God.-Colossians 2:18-19Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world -Hebrews 1:1-2 The DIFFICULTY with asceticism If with Christ you died to the elemental spirits of the world, why, as if you were still alive in the world, do you submit to regulations—  “Do not handle, Do not taste, Do not touch” referring to things that all perish as they are used)—according to human precepts and teachings? These have indeed an appearance of wisdom in promoting self-made religion and asceticism and severity to the body, but they are of no value in stopping the indulgence of the flesh.-Colossians 2:20-23“There is only one thing that will put the collar on the neck of the animal that lives within us…and that is the indwelling of Christ. Ascetic religion is godless for those that practice it essentially worship themselves.” -Alexander Mclaren The DELIVERANCE with ChristAnd you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him.-Colossians 2:13-15 Now there is in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate a pool, in Aramaic called Bethesda, which has five roofed colonnades. In these lay a multitude of invalids—blind, lame, and paralyzed. The Fruit: Self-ControlSelf-control includes spiritual discipline, restraint, curbing fleshly impulses, and mastery over one's desires and passions.Self-control is not self-manufactured. This sermon kicked off a powerful three-week Growth Track series to help every member understand the church's mission, vision, and core values while inviting them to officially belong, discover their purpose, and serve. This first step focused on clarifying the church's structure, beliefs, and strategy, emphasizing connection through small groups, service through Dream Teams, and growth through discipleship. The ultimate goal is to lead people to become fully devoted followers of Jesus and prepare the church for exciting growth, including the launch of the new Tiny Town campus.

What does it take for a new organization to succeed? After launching numerous companies, Les McKeown began to identify some common patterns that new ventures all seemed to go through, releasing his findings in his book, Predictable Success: Getting Your Organization on the Growth Track—and Keeping it There. He recently sat down with the GLN's own David Ashcraft to go deeper into the six stages in the lifecycle of an organization, and how leaders can respond in each of them. This is the first part of a two-part episode.
