Let's address the CGI Mummy in the room...we're talking about the 2017 flop: Tom Cruise's The Mummy.

On the one hundred and thirty-eighth episode of THE THIRD ACT PODCAST, the crew has had way too much sangria. Our new release review is for Gaspar Noe's bad-trip dance/horror movie, CLIMAX. We pair that with 2 films- the indie drama JOY KEVIN and an avant garde short called MECHANICAL BALLET. We also discuss Tom Cruise's The Mummy, hand therapy, and DJ Daddy. Keep in touch with us on Facebook: www.facebook.com/TheThirdActPodcast and Twitter: @TheThirdActPod and email us anytime at: TheThirdActPodcast@gmail.com
Interesting things this week. DC Comics seems to know what it's doing on television, but not so much in theaters. Joss Whedon in hot water with... women? And it's not a hot tub. (Well, it might be and therefore...) Spiderman Spinoffs, Star Wars Sacking, Starsky and Knight Rider Rebooting, and the greatest comedy movie of all-time! (Hint. It wasn't Tom Cruise's "The Mummy".) That's a lot of stuff to get through in an hour but we'll do that and more! Tune in! Brought to you by the ever-popular F7 Shoe! www.CinemaSavants.com
It's the season finalé of I Have Some Notes! Don't worry, we're not leaving you for the summer without giving you something a little something extra special, we're fixing Tom Cruise's The Mummy! Okay, okay, so that in and of itself is not particularly special. What is special is that this time Colin, Gregg, Scott and Mark tried to fix the film IMMEDIATELY after watching it in the theatre. No note taking, no chewing on the film for a few days, no deep movie meditation, no nothing! It's all strictly off the cuff for our season finalé. We hope you enjoy it, and we'll see you again soon in the fall.
How do you make a movie when you haven't shot enough footage and don't have enough dialogue? I don't how but Universal Pictures managed to do it with Tom Cruise's The Mummy. This week we talk about how this movie finds new ways to offend, unfinished audio, reshoots, was Tom Cruise even there, and how gender switching a sexist trope managed to make it more sexist. The Real Fans are back to check out out Universal Studios' latest attempt to resurrect their classic monsters, with Tom Cruise's The Mummy. They review the film and discuss how effective it may be in launching Universal's Dark Universe.
Universal debuted their "Dark Universe" line this past week with Tom Cruise's The Mummy and the reception was, shall we say, less than kind. That's where we come in as we're here to tell you all about other films that contain some form of Egyptian curse that causes people to either shamble around wrapped in bandages looking for revenge, get possessed by some form of ancient goddess, or go tomb raiding. From the classics, to the lesser known, and (yes) even the Cruise film are mentioned. First we're talking about what we watching including two trips to the theatres to see a butt-kicking female superhero and deceivingly marketed 'horror' film, Chris continuing his journey through an ensemble comedy series, two 'killer kids' movies, some heavy metal horror mayhem, another dive into Josh's over-stuffed VHS collection and much more! Thanks for listening! Be sure to head to iTunes to subscribe and drop us a five star rating/review - every little bit helps! Links to all our web stuff at www.gbwpodcast.com
Listeners of the Grierson & Leitch podcast are often a little bummed out that Tim and Will don't disagree that often, which makes sense, considering they've known each other since they were in middle school. But we've got some real disagreement this week. Grierson is a big fan of Trey Edward Schults' "It Comes At Night." Leitch is quite a bit less so. They dig into that this week, as well as their shared tendency to want to lightly, very carefully defend Tom Cruise's "The Mummy," which is not good, but is not as defiantly bad as some have argued. Then, in their Reboot segment, they discuss their third Alfred Hitchcock movie. This week, it's 1943's "Shadow of a Doubt," a film that Hitchcock believed was his best. Grierson is not so sure. Timestamps: 4:30 "It Comes At Night" 22:35 "The Mummy" 38:55 "Shadow of a Doubt" We hope you enjoy. Let us know what you think @griersonleitch on Twitter, or griersonleitch@gmail.com. As always, give us a review on iTunes with the name of a movie you'd like us to review, and we'll discuss it on a later podcast. Opening Song: "Night Fever," The Bee Gees Closing Song: "We Only Come Out at Night," Smashing Pumpkins Cameo appearance from William Leitch and Wynn Leitch. Learn more about your ad choices. On this week's Cinema Royale, I'll be joined by Flixist.com's Matthew Razak to review Tom Cruise's THE MUMMY. As the film tanks at the box office, we'll look at Universal's Dark Universe and other shared franchises to see why they keep failing before they even start. Plus, I'll continue to hype up one of my favorite films from Sundance, BAND AID, starring Zoe Lister-Jones and Adam Pally. Feels like I've been talking about it for months (I have), but now that it's out I'm going to do it one more time. Plus brief reviews of IT COMES AT NIGHT and MEGAN LEAVEY, along with news, Blu-rays, and that killer BLACK PANTHER trailer!Tune in for a jam-packed hour!
Chris and Paul rip apart the raw horror news from the last few weeks. The medium rare steaks on offer include: - Universal's remakes and rereleases: "Brendan Fraser's The Mummy" vs. Tom Cruise's "The Mummy" (those quotation marks are perfectly placed); Blu-Ray releases of the original Universal films (including Abbott and Costello meeting every one of them) - The Puppetmaster: The Littlest Reich - Starring Thomas Lennon (Reno 911, Hellbaby), a hard reboot of the ridiculous (more than) ten movie series - Chris' review of The Void - Hype over The Dark Tower trailer - Hours old IT (2017) MTV Awards Sneak Peek reactions Join us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram (@itmompod) Send us suggestions or ridiculousness or hate mail itmompod@gmail.com !!
