When buying a car, color might seem like a purely personal choice. But it turns out that picking a less popular color could actually pay off later in a surprising way—especially when it's time to sell. Source: Westways Magazine Summer 2024 / “Color Considerations” What does it really take to get better at something? Is it just practice—or is there a smarter way to improve? Why do some people seem to make rapid progress while others plateau? Scott Young, writer, podcast host (https://www.scotthyoung.com/blog/podcast/), and author of Get Better at Anything: 12 Maxims for Mastery (https://amzn.to/3JOQ60k), breaks down what actually works when it comes to learning and skill-building. In our conversation, he explains the principles that separate effective practice from wasted effort—and how small adjustments can lead to much faster improvement. Tattoos have been around for thousands of years, yet their popularity today seems higher than ever. What draws people to permanently mark their bodies? Do they regret it later—or does the meaning deepen over time? Matt Lodder, senior lecturer in art history at the University of Essex and one of the world's leading experts on tattoo history, takes us inside this fascinating world. He is author of Painted People: 5,000 Years of Tattooed History from Sailors and Socialites to Mummies and Kings (https://amzn.to/4bdVJlb), and in our discussion he explores the cultural, psychological, and historical reasons tattoos continue to hold such strong appeal. This week I'm reading from Steve Aspin and Andreas Lueck's book 'Investigating the Impossible: Biology Offers New Answers and Insights' Investigating the Impossible: biology offers new answers and Insights, co-written by author/investigator Steve Aspin and professional cellular biologist and geneticist Andreas Lück, PhD. The authors deploy the disciplines of cellular biology and genetics for a deep-dive investigation into mysterious cases where scientific data and recovered forensic artifacts exist for laboratory examination and analysis. Four separate, but related, subject areas are examined: 1 - The authenticity and provenance of the tridactyl Nazca mummies recovered in Peru in 2015, and the extensive testing carried out by C14 dating, CT and MRI scans, DNA & PCR sequencing and tissue sampling, detailing these scientific processes for the reader; 2 - The 'alien' hairs recovered from the Peter Khoury encounter in Sydney, Australia in July 1992, subsequently analyzed forensically by APEG and published by Bill Chalker in his 2005 book 'Hair of the Alien'; 3 - The possibility of whether hybridization between species originating from different biospheres as reported in thousands of alien abduction reports over 70 years might even be biologically possible; and - 4 - How to recognize and identify disinformation and misinformation about these subject areas in the unregulated morass of the online world. The book runs to 75,000 words in length and includes 80x images: photographs, diagrams, charts and illustrations of biological and genetic processes to assist the reader in better understanding the scientific content. Three Appendices, a brief Bibliography and detailed reference section of explanatory notes supplement the text. The authors have succeeded in making these often difficult scientific concepts, biological processes and descriptions of testing protocols into an engaging story. Furthermore, in attempting to explain these 'impossible' but provably real phenomena, some of their conclusions lead the reader beyond mainstream scientific consensus to explore realms entertained only by contemporary physics, mathematics and cosmology. Bio Steve Aspin worked for 35 years in management, marketing and sales. In 1999, he founded a surgical innovations company near London. He subsequently designed, patented, manufactured and exported thousands of innovative medical and surgical products to the global marketplace. Now retired with his wife in a quiet corner of eastern England, he may be found most early mornings walking his dog over the Lincolnshire Wolds. Dr. Andreas Lueck is a cellular biologist, geneticist, and co-author of Investigating the Impossible: Biology offers New Answers and Insights. He holds PhD and MSc degrees in molecular biology, biochemistry, and genetics, and spent three years' post-doctoral research work at Harvard University. https://www.amazon.com/Investigating-Impossible-Biology-Answers-Insights-ebook/dp/B0DR88KT42 https://outoftimebook.info/ https://www.pastliveshypnosis.co.uk/ https://www.patreon.com/alienufopodcast https://simonbown.com/ My new book, Aspects of Alien Abduction https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0GRRPCT9Y Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. In this installment of Day Drinking on Delmarva, Todd and Tony dive deep into the intersection of music, memory, and media production. They discuss the origins of Todd's business during the 2008 financial crisis and how a passion for capturing live music evolved into a 15-year career in storytelling. From the “Wild West” days of YouTube copyrights to the nuances of using AI-generated tracks versus licensed music, the duo explores how sound defines the atmosphere of everything from social media shorts to local restaurants. Key Discussion Points:* A Throwback to the Roots: Todd introduces the new “GCFL” swag—a logo inspired by the iconic CBGB design—and recounts how his business began by photographing bands in Ocean City around 2008 to stay social during tough economic times.* The Power of Evergreen Content: A look back at the Barrel Room Sessions at Burleigh Oak Brewery and how live music videos, like a decade-old cover at The Starboard, continue to generate views and local SEO value years later.* Music as a Filter: The hosts reflect on how music adapts to our personal moods, whether dealing with loss, a new job, or simply finding the right “Aesthetic Lo-Fi” to write to.* The Evolution of Music Licensing: Tony and Todd discuss the shift from purchasing music to subscription models and the rise of AI tools like Beethoven.ai for creating podcast intros and outros.* Studio Legends: Tony shares a recommendation for the documentary The Wrecking Crew, detailing the anonymous session musicians who played on the biggest hits of the 60s, while Todd mentions the mysterious, mummy-wrapped studio pros of Here Come the Mummies.Links & Resources Mentioned:* Good Clean Fun Life: GoodCleanFunLife.comFavorite Quote:“I saw once somebody say that the reason they became a filmmaker was because they just wanted to share their favorite songs with people... that has kind of been the cornerstone of what we do.” — Todd This is a public episode. Death wasn't the end for ancient Egyptians; it was a gauntlet. The soul faced guardians, gods, the weighing of the heart against the feather of Ma'at, and the ever-present threat of Ammit waiting to devour the unworthy, with only magic to guide the soul to the Field of Reeds. This episode brings you the story of the afterlife, the Duat, and the most sophisticated collection of funerary spells the ancient world ever produced: the Egyptian Book of the Dead.Researched, written, and produced by Corinne Wieben with original music by Purple Planet.Episode sourcesSupport the showEnchantedPodcast.netBluesky/enchantedpodcast.net
A pair of Ancient Egyptian mummies once were a main reason for visits to Minneapolis' Central Library. They were on display there from the 1880s to the 1980s. But where did they go when the library got out of the museum business? And why were they in Minnesota in the first place? Eleanor Hildebrandt shares their tale with host Erica Pearson.
It's time to enter a VERY different world of Mummies and Monsters-join us for another cursed episode of Podcast Assemble. Tommy' recommends the 2025 adaptation of Stephen King's seminal The Long Walk (grim, thoughtful, and about as festive as a funeral—perfect Easter viewing), while DL has finally started Slow Horses and is now wondering what took him so long. This is less Brendan Fraser adventure, more ancient-evil-will-end-you horror. Mummies are even more disturbing than you might think. This week, Chris and Ed unwrap the real history of mummification, from ancient Egyptian embalming rituals (and 70 million animal mummies), Victorian unwrapping parties, and the horrifying ways the preserved dead were used as medicine, entertainment, and spectacle. Plus: a modern “wandering mummy” whose afterlife turned out to be worse than any curse.Visit this episode's show notes for links and references.Want even more out of SATT? Send us Fan MailA Conestoga wagon that doubles as a kaleidoscope, Holocaust survivor violins that still fill a concert hall, and a triceratops headed for Iowa. That's not a movie plot, it's what's happening across the Quad Cities museum world right now. We're joined by Kelly Lau, Vice President of Museum Experiences at the Putnam Museum and Science Center in Davenport, Iowa. Kelly walks us through what her job really touches, from education and field trips to curatorial work and exhibit planning. We talk about the Kaleidoscope special exhibit with local artist Tom Chateau and why this kind of hands-on art, optics, and design is one of the best examples of STEAM learning you can bring a family to.From there, we zoom out to the bigger visitor experience: summer camps for every age, the new Family Discovery Center built for pre-K kids and sensory-friendly exploration, and what it looks like when a museum takes accessibility seriously. Kelly shares how Spanish language interpretation and other changes are helping more visitors feel welcome. Then we spend time with one of the most moving cultural projects in the state, Violins of Hope, and why hearing these instruments played makes history feel immediate. We close with the kind of museum stories you never forget, including CT scans of Egyptian mummies and the behind-the-scenes journey toward unveiling a triceratops for the Putnam's 160th birthday in 2027. Today we are talking about the action-packed, supernatural spectacle of The Mummy Returns (2001). Join Alec & Erik as we revisit Rick O'Connell, Evelyn, and their son Alex on a globe-trotting adventure filled with spooky ancient mummy curses, resurrected WWF star warriors, and one very angry Billy Zane looking Imhotep. We break down what makes this sequel bigger, louder, and more chaotic than its predecessor, from the introduction of the PS2 graphics of the Scorpion King to the film's ambitious and sometimes questionable early-2000s CGI. Cultists, eager to keep their hit streak going, Universal released The Mummy in 1932. Bringing back Frankenstein star Boris Karloff, and with Dracula cinematographer in the director's chair. The film capitalized on an Egyptian craze in the era, and spawned one of horror's most enduring franchises. In this final installment of Febwhaleary, we take a look at one of the rarest whales on the planet: The Comeback Whale. A giant in Hollywood, he rose to the top of the food chain in the late nineties; soaring through jungles, and winning victories over Mummies in the desert. But the seas of Hollywood can be a treacherous wilderness filled with predators, and sadly...the Comeback Whale would be one of their many victims. But, like the best stories in cinema, this one has a happy ending. Years later, the Comeback Whale would return to dominance once again in 2023, earning the respect and highest accolades of its peers. Though researchers are divided if the Comeback Whale's latest venture is truly his crowning achievement, one thing is certain – the results are welcome, for everyone loves a good comeback tale, and this one is called: The Whale.I'm your host, Dave, and joining me as we try our best to write an honest fucking essay are fellow cinephiles and whale watchers Mike, Jackie, and Ryan.Topics of discussion in this episode include how The Whale may rank among Apocalypse Video's Mount Rushmore of Bad; Ryan does his best as the film's Public Defender; and finally, we do a dive into Darren Aronofsky's latest A.I. generated film and whether it will generate enough money to satiate his scarf buying addiction.Be sure to rate, review and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts. You can also Like Us on Facebook, Follow Us on Instagram, or shoot us an email at apocalypsevideopod@gmail.comAnd as Brendan Fraser returns to the world of cinema and rejoins the rest of his Hollywood pod, we too must say goodbye and bid farewell to the month of Febwhaleary. We'll see you next month as we leave the oceans behind and take to the skies as we witness the March of the Penguins (...and other Bird Related Films).

Beneath the sun-baked streets of Palermo, Sicily, over a thousand mummified bodies line the walls of an underground cemetery where the dead were never meant to disappear—they were meant to be seen, visited, and remembered. Dressed in their finest clothes, pinned upright in stone alcoves, and arranged by gender, profession, and social class, the residents of the Capuchin Catacombs have been watching visitors for over four hundred years. And some visitors swear the dead are watching back. https://www.eeriecast.com/podcasts/destination-terror #CapuchinCatacombs #Palermo #Sicily #Mummies #Catacombs #Italy #HorrorPodcast #DestinationTerror #RosaliaLombardo #SleepingBeauty #MementoMori #DarkTourism #MacabreHistory EXPLORE MORE SPINE-CHILLING CONTENT: Freaky Folklore: https://www.eeriecast.com/podcasts/freaky-folklore Carman's Crypt (Original Horror): https://carmanscrypt.buzzsprout.com Deadly Intent (True Crime): https://carmancarrion.buzzsprout.com Destination Terror: https://www.eeriecast.com/podcasts/destination-terror SUPPORT THE SHOW: Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/c/CarmanCarrion Buy Me a Coffee: https://buymeacoffee.com/carmancarrion CONNECT WITH CARMAN: Website: https://www.carman-carrion.com/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@CarmanCarrion Twitter/X: https://x.com/CarmanCarrion Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/carmancarrion/ SUBSCRIBE & REVIEW: Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/0uiX155WEJnN7QVRfo3aQY iTunes: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/freaky-folklore/id1550361184 Your support helps bring you more terrifying tales! Anyone with an interest in any and all evidence related to alien species, non-human intelligence, or UFO/UAP is likely familiar with claims of mummified alien remains. Proponents say the remains have been buried in South America for hundreds of years and have been conclusively examined and studied by scientists and medical experts - and are legit. But many of the claims made are muddled at best, and persons involved in bringing the mummies forward have been caught fabricating evidence. For the last few years, WEAPONIZED co-hosts Jeremy Corbell and George Knapp have followed the controversy, as reported in various news reports, but decided to leave the topic to those who have the expertise needed to formally investigate the claims and the mummies themselves. If the three-fingered mummies turned out to be non-human or even extraterrestrial in origin, it would be a massively important finding that would boost the credibility of those who argue that non-human intelligence has been present on Earth for hundreds of years - maybe thousands. So, bottom line: Are these mummies the real deal, or have the proponents engaged in ghoulish grave robbing and the surgical manipulation of long-dead, but very human, corpses? An explorer and YouTube creator turned UFO investigator traveled to Brazil to take a deep dive into the claims and was, for a time, a believer, not a debunker. His YouTube site, “Incredible History,” included a previous video entitled “Show Me the Mummies,” and his explosive new video, released just days ago, appears to blow the lid off of the mummy claims and the people who have promoted what some believe is a money-making scam - one linked to South American drug cartels. Two esteemed academics have joined the conversation, and both make strong arguments that the two best-known mummies show clear evidence of tampering. In this episode of WEAPONIZED, we speak with Will Brown who created the “Incredible History” YouTube channel, along with Dr. Dan Proctor, a biological anthropologist, and Michele Adams, a highly experienced radiologist who says she is an experiencer herself. Both of these professionals are openly interested in ETs and non-human intelligence, but their precise criticisms of the mummy evidence made public so far have subjected the two PhDs to personal attacks and allegations that they are designated debunkers working on behalf of the deep state to muddy the waters. Is there an assembly line somewhere in Peru where long-dead humans are being carved up and then re-arranged to look like three-fingered aliens? And is there a flourishing black market where private collectors pay huge sums in order to obtain their very own “alien” mummy? This WEAPONIZED episode includes a spirited discussion about where the mummy debate stands now and what it would take to confirm that the two most prominent mummy specimens are the real deal. What if a haunting didn't involve ghosts — but the lingering smell of carnival food? This episode of The Box of Oddities opens with an unsettling sensory mystery tied to a long-demolished amusement park, then plunges into one of the most stubborn and controversial archaeological puzzles of modern times: the tridactyl mummies of Peru. Discovered near the Nazca region, these small humanoid mummies feature three fingers, three toes, elongated skulls, and internal anatomy that does not appear to be the result of a simple hoax. CT scans and MRIs show articulated skeletons with no apparent signs of assembly. Carbon dating places them roughly 1,700–1,800 years old. DNA testing reveals material consistent with known Earth life — alongside a troubling percentage classified as unknown. Some specimens even appear to contain metallic implants made from rare alloys, positioned as if intentionally placed during life. One reportedly shows signs of a fetus, suggesting reproduction rather than fabrication. Scientists remain cautious. Skeptics remain vocal. And yet, after years of imaging and analysis, these bodies stubbornly resist tidy explanations. They may not be aliens — but they also may not be anything science has fully named yet. Then, in classic Box fashion, the episode pivots from the inexplicable to the unexpectedly hopeful. Meet the real-world heroes you probably didn't expect: trained landmine-detecting rats. These remarkable animals are saving lives across former war zones by sniffing out explosives buried decades ago. One rat in particular, Ronan, has broken world records and helped return deadly land to safe use — proving that sometimes the strangest solutions are also the most effective. From phantom fairground smells to unresolved biological mysteries to rats quietly changing the world, this episode is a reminder that the universe is weird, complicated, and occasionally wonderful — whether we understand it or not. Historian Dan Vogel breaks down the complex history of the Book of Abraham, beginning with the 1835 purchase of Egyptian mummies in Kirtland, Ohio. Rather than seeing the Kirtland Egyptian Papers as a failed attempt by scribes to understand Egyptian, Vogel argues they were Joseph Smith's own working papers. He demonstrates how Smith used these documents to “brainstorm” a new theological framework, allowing him to introduce doctrines like the priesthood ban and the plurality of gods under the guise of an ancient text. This is a replay of my 2019 interview with Dan. https://youtu.be/sFKoRTTZ4SU Don't miss our other conversations with Dan: https://gospeltangents.com/people/dan-vogel Copyright © 2025 Gospel Tangents All Rights Reserved Arrival of the Mummies and Papyrus The story begins in July 1835, when Michael Chandler arrived in Kirtland with four mummies and several papyrus scrolls. Joseph Smith purchased the collection for $2,400 and quickly identified the records as the writings of the biblical patriarchs Abraham and Joseph. Vogel notes that while Smith identified these as ancient records, they were actually Egyptian funerary texts, specifically the “Book of Breathings” (belonging to a priest named Horus) and the “Book of the Dead” (belonging to Ta-Sherit-Min). “Brainstorming” Book of Abraham Translation A central part of the discussion involves the Kirtland Egyptian Papers, which include “Alphabet” and a bound “Grammar” volume. Vogel disputes the apologetic theory that these documents were a failed attempt by scribes to reverse-engineer Smith’s translation. Instead, he argues they were Smith's own working papers used to “brainstorm” theological concepts. According to Vogel, Smith used these documents to develop complex ideas—such as a priesthood lineage and an Egyptian-themed cosmology—before dictating the final text. Evidence of Oral Dictation Vogel presents compelling evidence that the Book of Abraham was orally dictated. He points to manuscripts where scribes Frederick G. Williams and Warren Parrish wrote simultaneously, making the same in-line corrections as Smith changed his mind about specific wording. Furthermore, the scribes used phonetic spellings for names like “Alcanor” or “Elkenah,” which reflected Joseph Smith's distinct New England non-rhotic accent (e.g., dropping/adding the “r” sound). Filling the Gaps: Invented Characters One of the most significant findings involves the lacunae, or missing portions of the papyrus. Vogel asserts that where the scroll was damaged, Smith invented characters to fill the gaps. These invented characters were then transcribed into the translation manuscripts and given lengthy English definitions that ended up in the Book of Abraham. This suggests that the surviving fragments—which match these characters—were indeed the source material Smith was using. Theological Projection The Book of Abraham served as a tool to introduce new doctrines that Smith was building into the Church's structure. Vogel explains how the cosmology of the stars (like Kolob) mirrored the ecclesiastical structure of the Kirtland Temple. The three ruling planets and twelve others corresponded to the three presidencies and the twelve members of the High Council. In this way, Smith projected his 19th-century priesthood concerns back onto an ancient patriarchal narrative0. Critique of the “Long Scroll Theory” Finally, Vogel addresses the modern apologetic “Long Scroll Theory,” which posits that the Book of Abraham was on a portion of the papyrus that was destroyed in the 1871 Chicago Fire. Vogel argues this is a “fallacy of possible proof”. He maintains that the documentary evidence—specifically the way the characters in the margins of the translation manuscripts match the surviving fragments—proves that Smith was translating from the documents we still possess today. Mummies of 3-fingered alien beings were uncovered in Peru. The mummified remains of a dozen bizarre, extraterrestrial beings were discovered in Peru—the corpses of creatures with three fingers and thin limbs, frozen in time. They were dubbed the “Nazca Tridactyls” because they are believed to have been uncovered in the same region of Peru as the Nazca lines, the ancient site where people built enormous works of art in the landscape that could only be viewed from above. The problem is, there supposedly weren't any airplanes or spaceships thousands of years ago when these Nazca lines were made. So who was the artwork signaling? The theory goes that alien visitors were coming to Peru in the ancient past, and now there may be proof with these dug up mummies. In fact, a metal implant was removed from one specimen, and nobody knows what this ancient but futuristic chip could've been used for, or which mummies are real or fake. Let's dive into the facts, theories, remote viewing data, and mysteries of the Nazca Tridactyls right here on Metaphysical. Join investigative researcher Rob Counts and remote viewer John Vivanco for another show that's out of this world.
