In this episode, we talk about using my six best friends for better wisdom. "I keep six honest serving-men (They taught me all I knew); Their names are What and Why and When and How and Where and Who." - Rudyard Kipling Regardless of which industry you are involved in or which area of life you consider, the quality of your life is determined by the quality of questions that you ask. Questions change our focus, they change the resources available to us and help us find better quality answers. Judge a man by his questions rather than his answers said Voltaire in his wisdom because questions are the answer. There are many questions we can ask but my best friends are six categories of questions: why, what, who, when, where, and how. By being able to answer these six categories of questions you can understand the background, context and get to the root cause of many problems. Why: the question why is probably the most important and vital question one can ask. Why identifies the purpose, cause, and belief rooted in the people, process, or event the question is being applied to. The question 'why' is linked to the limbic brain that controls behavior and not language. And communicating the why allows for a better reception than starting with other questions. The best consultants, entrepreneurs, and speakers begin by asking 'why we do what we do then using the answer to inform other questions. Some examples of why questions are: Why did the event happen? Why do we do what we do? Why should we care? How: the how question refers to the methodologies and practices that are employed. By asking the right how questions you can uncover the ways things are done and gain insight into how things can be different. Examples of how questions are: How are things done? How should things be done? How can things be done differently? What: the what question is focus on the key activities and processes-this looks into a good level of detail about what is in question. By asking the right 'what' questions you will uncover ways to improve or change the actions and processes in question. Examples are: What is the root cause? What are the main activities to focus on? What can be improved or done differently? Who: the who question is a very important one to understand and get right. The answer to this question will help you determine key stakeholders and to understand your customer (those you provide a service to and those who have a vested interest in you.) By understanding critical people, demographics and values you better understand them and how to interact with them. Some examples of who questions are: Who is involved? Who should and can be involved? Who is the most important person? When: the when question refers to identifying time-based events. Timing is very important and can be the difference between success and failure. Had Napoleon got to the Waterloo battlefield a few hours earlier, he would probably have won; the difference between gold and silver at the Olympics comes down to milliseconds. Understanding the right time and the urgency to do things is often critical. Some examples of when questions are: When did an important event occur? When can and should something be done? When is the event normally done? What other time can or should something be done? Where: the where question refers to the location and place. In business and entrepreneurship, the key defining factor can be location, location, and location. Understanding and looking in the right place is a defining factor for success. Some examples of where questions are: Where did the event happen? Where should I be looking? Where can and should it be done?  These are my six best friends and they have helped me to learn all I know and will continue to help expand my knowledge. I would like to introduce to you a segment that is part of the Everyday Series called Wisdom Words Wednesday's. Wisdom Words Wednesdays. I believe that a powerful word of wisdom can change the trajectory of our lives and help us to make better quality decisions. The quality of our lives is based on the quality of the decisions that we make. Sometimes we can find ourselves in cycles of negative thinking and unwise thoughts, actions and deeds. We can find ourselves in cycles of stupidity where every single day, moment, month, year, and decade, we keep doing things at the end of them, we ask ourselves, "how can we have been so foolish and how can we have been so stupid?" The only reason that we make unwise decisions is that we did not have the information and the wisdom that we had at the time. So it's not helpful to beat ourselves up and tear ourselves down and to judge ourselves too harshly because if we knew better, we would do better. And someone said, "never mistake knowledge for wisdom. One helps you to make a living. The other helps you to make a life." And with a segment, we will be sharing thoughts, ideas, concepts, around a certain wisdom principle that will help change our lives. And as a preview, I'd like to share eight pieces of wisdom that can change our lives as a prelude, to the first episode Number one, words are powerful, so use them wisely. Two, people come and go, but the right ones stay. Three, you are doing enough, even if it doesn't feel like it. Four, failure is when you don't try. Five, random acts of kindness, make everyone feel better. Six, live for today, not for tomorrow. Number seven, never look back because there is nothing there for you. Eight, overthinking will kill your happiness. Those are some wise words as a prelude to how the rest of the series will go. So these episodes will air on a Wednesday and they will help us to make better decisions and I honestly believe life is what we make of it. The essence of life is growth. The essence of life is growth and to do the best that we can, the more you do, the more you get and the more that you become. So I will see you on the first episode of Wisdom Words Wednesdays.

It all began in 1998 with Donald and Teresa Yates’s genealogy website “Lost Indian Tribes Southeast.” Fifteen years later, Panther’s Lodge, as the site was called, became a publisher of books about American Indians. The Big Little Book of Native American Wit and Wisdom, compiled by Anna Kolouthon was one of the first produced, and it was followed by an audiobook version narrated by Robert B. Rees. Now comes a video podcast hosted by Pete Ferrand with highlights like “Being Indian Is,” by J.C. High Eagle, Chief Two White Feather’s Advice, “Remarks on Native American Religion” and the Native American Ten Commandments. That’s ok and that’s normal. Just be aware enough to recognize if some areas are being extremely neglected and solve that issue.  Find creative ways to spend quality time with your family as you’re pursuing our passions and growing your business.  Quality over quantity is key. Self care is important!  Remember to schedule breaks and time off especially if you have work-a-holic tendencies. Have self awareness and set boundaries if you’re working too much.  Give yourself grace to say “No I can’t do that today.”  What does it take to have a successful business? To have a successful business you have tenacity,  The willingness and passion to learn new skills that go along with having your business.  If you’re scared of sales you must master that craft in order to sell or get new clients.  When determining prices for your business do not set out to be the cheapest, strive to deliver exceptional quality and set your prices accordingly.
