Jesus offers living water and invites us to ask him for it. The living water metaphor is all through the Bible and prominent in the Gospel of John. From it we understand that Jesus is offering cleansing from sin, spiritual life that begins now and continues on forever, and the very life of God in our souls by the indwelling of his Spirit. What prevents a person from asking Jesus for living water? What moves a person to sincerely ask for living water in faith? Let's pray that the preventers will be removed, and the motivation will be granted for us and others to ask for and receive this living water that only Jesus can give.

In Psalm 1, we saw the picture of an alive and life-giving Christian in the image of a fruit-bearing tree planted by streams of water. In Psalm 78, we see that healthy Christians grow in the context of a healthy congregation. Healthy congregations gather in Christ with his Spirit and Word and rehearse the history of God's grace. The congregation reminds itself of the faithfulness of God in Christ, and of the calling to follow him in faith. It passes these things on to the generations to come, even the ones yet to be born. By God's grace, Grace Community Church will be such a congregation. Will you follow Christ with us, and pray and serve with us toward this end?
