Romans 1:20 No Excuse Why are apples red? What does electricity look like? Anyone who has been a parent or teacher has heard questions like these. Sometimes we can give an answer that makes sense to the child, and sometimes not. How do you know that God exists? If he does, what is he like? These are not new questions. How they are answered is just as important now as ever. Sometimes we know who has been in a room by the smell of the perfume she has left behind. Sometimes we can tell who designed a building by its architectural style. In the same way, God has provided evidence that he exists. God’s eternal power is always on display. The world cries out that it was created by someone. And what power its creator must have—to be able to put atoms together into molecules and then exert the power to keep them all together. What power the creator of the stars must have. How far above us he must be! All around us, there is ample evidence of God’s power, wisdom, and divine nature. There is no excuse for anyone to doubt God’s existence or his involvement in the world. Does God exist? That’s not the right question. How should we serve God? What more might God have for us?” These are the questions we should ask. And the answers are given to us in the Bible. Prayer: Thank you, Lord, for revealing yourself in the world you created. Today I praise you for its wonders. Amen. Daily Devotions is brought to you by WELS. Send us Fan MailDid these apparently incoherent songs mean anything to you?I did not, when a slave, understand the deep meaning of these songs. These songs told a tale of woe which was then altogether beyond my feeble comprehension; they were tones loud, long, and deep; they breathed the prayer and complaint of souls boiling over with the bitterest anguish. Every tone was a testimony against slavery, and a prayer to God for deliverance from chains. The hearing of those wild notes always depressed my spirit, and filled me with ineffable sadness. I have frequently found myself in tears while hearing them. To those songs I trace my first glimmering conception of the dehumanizing character of slavery. I can never get rid of that conception. Those songs still follow me, to deepen my hatred of slavery, and quicken my sympathies for my brethren in bonds.”I don't know how to express this, but it seems that our society feels that singing among slaves proved that they were happy. Is that true?Support the showThank you for experiencing Celebrate Creativity.

No-Excuse Evangelism | Jonah 3:1–2

“Then the LORD spoke to Jonah a second time: ‘Get up and go to the great city of Nineveh, and deliver the message I have given you.’” (Jonah 3:1–2 NLT) Most believers have reasons not to evangelize. Some of these reasons might even seem compelling or legitimate. “I don’t want to make the friendship weird or awkward.” “I’m afraid I won’t be able to answer people’s questions.” “I don’t want to become a person that other people avoid.” The Old Testament prophet Jonah had some pretty compelling reasons not to evangelize. At least, he thought they were compelling. He’d been given an assignment that no prophet in his day would have been excited about. God had called him to preach His Word in Nineveh, which was one of the most wicked cities on earth. The Ninevites were the enemies of Israel. Other prophets had warned Israel that one day the Assyrians would overtake them, and Nineveh just happened to be the capital of Assyria. Jonah likely reasoned, “Wait a second! If I go and preach to them, they might repent. And if they repent, then God will spare them, and they will conquer us. But if I don’t preach to them, they won’t repent, and God will judge them. That will be one less enemy we have to deal with.” So, Jonah tried to go in the opposite direction. He went down to Joppa, boarded a ship, and set sail for Tarshish, away from the presence of the Lord. He would have saved himself a lot of trouble if he had remembered the words of David, “I can never escape from your Spirit! I can never get away from your presence!” (Psalm 139:7 NLT). You probably know the rest of the story. God sent a great storm that threatened the lives of everyone aboard the vessel. Jonah admitted that he was the cause of the storm and was tossed overboard: “The LORD had arranged for a great fish to swallow Jonah. And Jonah was inside the fish for three days and three nights” (Jonah 1:17 NLT). Jonah repented, and the great fish—likely a whale—vomited him up on shore. “Then the LORD spoke to Jonah a second time: ‘Get up and go to the great city of Nineveh, and deliver the message I have given you’” (Jonah 3:1–2 NLT). This time, Jonah did what God had called him to do. God helped him recognize what all believers need to understand: The work of evangelism is far more important and pressing than any discomfort we may experience or any objections we may have. We’ve been called to share the gospel, even with people we may not like. Nonbelievers aren’t the enemy; they’ve been taken captive by the god of this world to do what he wants them to do (see 2 Timothy 2:26). Until the end of our lives or until the Lord returns, our job is to reach them with the Good News of Christ. Let’s embrace the work God’s given us so that others may experience His forgiveness, salvation, and love. Reflection question: What seemingly compelling reasons might keep you from sharing the gospel? The Harvest Crusade is coming to Angel Stadium on July 11! How is this still happening? You ever have one of those moments where you see something so ridiculous you can't help but roll your eyes? That's basically the theme of this episode. I'm talking about the world of podcasting and, honestly, it's kind of wild. It's 2026, and people are still posting “New episode out! (and that's it)” on social media like that's some kind of marketing strategy. Seriously?Yes, It's Better Than Nothing...In this episode, I talk about why podcasters need to stop doing the bare minimum when promoting their shows. If you're going to post on social media, at least make it interesting. Lead with a question. Share a bold statement. Give people a reason to stop scrolling and pay attention. Don't just announce your existence, do something to spark curiosity.Use a HookI also dig into the importance of using hooks when sharing episodes. In today's world of endless content, you need something that grabs attention immediately. Whether it's a thought-provoking question, a surprising opinion, or a compelling claim, the goal is to invite people into a conversation, not just tell them your episode exists. There is No Excuse for "New Episode Out"And honestly, with all the AI tools available now, there's really no excuse for lazy promotional posts anymore. AI can help you come up with stronger captions, better hooks, and more engaging content in seconds. If your entire strategy is still “new episode out,” it might be time to rethink things.Throughout the episode, I share practical tips on how to create social posts that actually connect with your audience and make people want to listen. What a weekend of sport it was last week. Rory's Masters triumph, Grand National bashing for the bookies, Premier League blown wide open, and Championship relegation heating up with the Scottish title race. Dialling in, it's Arsenal who are in the sights this week, and I knew they would be at 2:30pm on Saturday when they were booed off the pitch while 9 points clear in the Prem having lost 2-1 to Bournemouth. Is it a fair reaction to a club threatening to blow the achievement this project has strived for for 6 years or a lack of respect for the job those on the performance and business side have undertaken to put the club here in the first place. Add to that a look at the rapid growth of women's rugby and how it compares to women's football and we have ourselves a Breakdown!Disclaimer:The content of this podcast is intended as commentary and opinion on matters of public interest in the sports industry. We love it when people speak the truth about what we align with. Whether it be our favorite sports team, political affiliations, our take on pop culture drama—when someone says something we align and agree with, we love to champion that. In the study of Romans so far, there have been many truths preached that many people in our church align and identify with, therefore, love and feel great about what is being preached. The danger is this: there are some who sit in this church week after week and think only about how horrible the world is, how awful other people are, or how depraved our culture is, all the while thinking that they are absolutely fine, in no danger at all, and no need of self-evaluation. If you are that person—this message is for you. Coming off the heels of seeing how the wrath of God is revealed against all unrighteousness, Paul now turns his attention to the individual: “Therefore, you have no excuse, O man” (Romans 2:1). These verses expose how we are all under the righteous judgment of God outside of Christ. May we take heed of the exposing nature of these verses and “not neglect so great a salvation” (Hebrews 2:3). BIG IDEA: I can't fool God.- How I Try to Fool God (1-5)- Hypocrisy (1-3)- Presuming on God's Kindness (4)- Hardness of Heart (5)- Two Eternal Paths (6-11)Luke 5:32 : “I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.”
