Beyond the Senedd- Bethan Sayed

Ipsos Mori are carrying out a survey of young people. A parent posted a question in said survey which asked young people if they thought they were too thin or too fat. Here are my thoughts on it, and what needs to be done. It will only promote or trigger eating disorders to have our young people answer such absurd questions.

Social media is here to stay. How do we make companies take responsibility for their actions so that the way they operate doesn't affect people's mental health in a negative way. Does being on social media affect how we interact with people in person?

Its #timetotalk day, raising awareness of mental health and trying to reduce the stigma. How can we mean what we say? How can it be more than the superficial? Here I talk about my views and experiences of being a new mam in lockdown and some of the challenges I have encountered.

I'm a new mam to babi Idris Abbas , so I've given you some background as to my experience of giving birth during the Coronavirus lockdown, how its affected my mental health, and how finding alternative support networks has helped me.

What I've been up to this week in the Senedd and the region. From street art to Otis Bolamu getting leave to remain in Swansea. To campaigning to save Erasmus, to the petition by Dwr y Felin to roll out Wellbeing Ambassadors across all schools in Wales.

Just sharing some thoughts on the wonders of pregnancy! From the comments I get from others, to taste bud changes, to experiencing kicks from the little one, to support for me at the Senedd when I'm on maternity leave and what that may or may not look like...

What is coercive control? What did Sally Challen and David Challen say about their experiences of their landmark campaign referencing the existence of coercive control in her relationship with her husband? How can we do more to support those who come forward when they identify themselves as having been in coervicely controlling relationships? What more can the criminal justice system do? How can we improve our society to stamp out such coervicely controlling relationship?

What's it like being a young woman in politics? What are the challenges? Am I a role model? What about the abuse, the mansplaining?! How can we inspire other women to get involved. Here my initial thoughts and experiences. I will definitely return to the subject! I have much much more to say!

I got in to a Twitter chat recently with a journalist about why some women don't go for smear tests and how we can encourage them to do so. It may be uncomfortable, it may be traumatic for some, but ultimately it will benefit our health. I give me views on this, how we can have a better understanding of it, more awareness campaigns, and the idea of self testing which is being piloted in London soon.

I love to travel. I love Nordic Noir so I always like to travel to Nordic countries to see where the programmes were filmed or where the crim novels I read were located. I went back to Sweden and Norway last week. Travel widens horizons and gives you experiences to last a lifetime.
