We are BACK with Season 14, and Bethan is back too! In September 1978, 13-year-old paperboy Carl Bridgewater was brutally murdered while delivering newspapers in the West Midlands. His senseless death shocked the nation, and the police investigation that followed would become one of the most controversial in British legal history — leading to wrongful convictions, decades of appeals, and still, after more than forty years, unanswered questions about who killed Carl. Even if you've listened before, it's the kind of episode that stays with you — and worth hearing again. And here's the news you've been waiting for: Bethan is BACK! Season 14 launches on Wednesday 1 October, with brand new cases and stories that will chill you to the bone. For now, take a deep breath, press play, and step back into the shadows with us. Professional development is happening in schools everywhere, but is it actually working? In this episode, Bethan Hindley from the Teacher Development Trust tackles one of the biggest challenges facing school leaders today: fragmented CPD. Despite all the training sessions, workshops, and courses, many schools struggle to see real impact because their professional development lacks a clear, joined-up approach. Teachers are working hard and learning individually, but they're not moving towards common goals that meet their specific school's needs. Bethan shares practical strategies for transforming your school's approach to professional development, starting with getting crystal clear on your strategic priorities and ensuring these threads run consistently through all your PD activities. We explore why professional development is the biggest lever we have for improving student outcomes, particularly for disadvantaged pupils, and discuss the exciting new Asia cohort of TDT's Associate Qualification that Shane is co-delivering specifically for international school leaders. Well, the event of the summer has happened and we're all thrilled (but y'know, there's comes a point when you need to stop going on about it.) Ferg and Bethan have exchanged vows, rings, and secret family hot toddy recipes and have been officially pronounced bacon and egg. They are husband and wife and we at TM&TM could not be more thrilled. So thrilled we've let Ferg have one more episode off. Despite the lack of the greater of our two hosts we continue with our PDO Series apace. In his stead we have 2 heavyweights of the modern industry. A man who cannot decide if he is from The Princess Bride or Highlander but who is producing some of England's most consistently interesting and excellent wines for Vagabond, Senior Jose Quintana. He goes toe to toe, mano a mano, cheek to cheek with everybody's favourite democratic winemaker and winner of fictional awards (and real ones too) Alex Brogan. Way back in the mists of time, these 2 members of the wine intelligencia had what they termed a ‘lively discussion' about the concepts of a PDO over a South African braai. They agree to repeat this discussion, to the best of the sober abilities, through the medium of a wine based podcast. We look at the history, purpose, and relevance of PDOs and importantly ask who it actually benefits. It's a great, informed discussion that raises as many questions as are perhaps answered. There's a lot of food for thought here. Does it matter as to the origin of that food? We're not sure, but we know it's both nutritious and delicious. With our enormous thanks to Jose and Alex for their time, considered insights, and thought provoking comments and discussion. Shout outs to @vagabondwines who are someone you should be keeping your eye on for a number of reasons and to @geyerwineco who provided the juice to keep Jose going during the recording. Alex himself was drinking one of his own wines (we do call him out for this) but also some fine liquid from @gianluca_colombovini, with whom he is about to head out to for the next @notyetnamedwineco vintage. This weekend will see an event take place that can only be described as 'A Wedding'. Yes, our very own Ferg, your favourite of our 2 hosts, is committing his life not to wine, but to the marvellous Bethan. No we're not sure either. Of course this means the Ferg has been rather busy and scheduling in a recording has been more challenging than usual. This is of course misdirection as it's really bloody Lee's fault (he has his usual litany of excuses about homework eating his cat and his gravity being switched off). As a result, this is the shortest episode of TM&TM of all time. So what's actually in it then? Lee shares a few thoughts on musings on the man who is not just is cohost, but one of his closest friends. More importantly we feature special guests @saturday.kitchen (by pulling the audio from a recording and really hope that's ok) as @knackeredmother not only chose one of Ferg's wines to feature, but gave Bethan and her soon to be husband a shout out! @matt.tebutt offered his congratulations and importantly @weemissbea seemed to enjoy the rosé (although like Lee, she's not necessarily a fan of the category - top work). Due to Lee being disorganised he didn't give everyone time to respond, but there are a few surprise visits from some of Ferg's friends and a super special cameo appearance from everyone's favourite friend @buxtagram. Please join us in raising your glasses in celebration of Bethan and Ferg and in wishing them the happiest life together! TM&TM: walking down your aisle from Thursday morning.

We originally covered this case way back in 2022 when Bethan went solo while Mark was on holiday. Fast forward three years, and there is so much more that has come out since. This week we both dive into the the case of the Long Island serial killer. When the remains of ten bodies were found in late 2010 and early 2011, detectives were faced with the haunting prospect that they were hunting a serial killer. Years of frustration followed as the investigation moved at a sluggish pace but then in 2023, a year after Bethan recorded her episode, there was a breakthrough when a seemingly respectable family man was charged with seven of the murders. On this week's episode of Local Legends, Martin is joined by the hosts of the Eerie Essex podcast, Ailsa Clarke and Bethan Briggs-Miller!Ailsa and Bethan have been at this here podcasting malarkey since the pandemic, and it's highly likely that you are already familiar with Eerie Essex. If you've never had the pleasure to listening to them though, well, you're in for a treat! In this episode Ailsa, Bethan and Martin talk about everything from lasagne to garden centres to demonic possession, getting lost in underground caves, and Matthew Hopkins, Witch Finder General. As you will hear, both Ailsa and Bethan have really interesting backgrounds and educational journeys to where they are today, but part of the reason we love Eerie Essex though is because of its warmth. Yes, episodes frequently contain ideas that might make you soil your britches with fear. And yes, the research Ailsa and Bethan engage in is really thorough. But, more than anything, it's the cosy, generous, very funny tone of their podcast that we find to spellbinding. If you want to know more about Eerie Essex and listen to the podcast, just search for Eerie Essex on your favoured podcast app and you'll find it. Alternatively, if you would like to know more about, and possibly visit, the East Anglian Folklore Centre, for which Bethan is serving as Co-Director, you can learn more about it at eastanglianfolklorecentre.co.ukFor now though, gather in close around the Three Ravens campfire for a conversation which ventures from caves full of smuggler's treasure to a forest full of nightmares, from rural to urban, and from the Roman era right up to the modern day.We really hope you enjoy it, and will be back on Monday with our brand new County Episode all about the history and folklore of Rutland!Three Ravens is an English Myth and Folklore podcast hosted by award-winning writers Martin Vaux and Eleanor Conlon.Released on Mondays, each weekly episode focuses on one of England's 39 historic counties, exploring the history, folklore and traditions of the area, from ghosts and mermaids to mythical monsters, half-forgotten heroes, bloody legends, and much, much more. Then, and most importantly, the pair take turns to tell a new version of an ancient story from that county - all before discussing what that tale might mean, where it might have come from, and the truths it reveals about England's hidden past...Bonus Episodes are released on Thursdays plus Local Legends episodes on Saturdays - interviews with acclaimed authors, folklorists, podcasters and historians with unique perspectives on that week's county. With a range of exclusive content on Patreon, too, including audio ghost tours, the Three Ravens Newsletter, and monthly Three Ravens Film Club episodes about folk horror films from across the decades, why not join us around the campfire and listen in?Learn more at www.threeravenspodcast.com, join our Patreon at www.patreon.com/threeravenspodcast, and find links to our social media channels here: https://linktr.ee/threeravenspodcast Get bonus content on Patreon Hosted on Acast. On this week's episode of Three Ravens we're off to Essex, exploring the history and folklore of a county that has everything. Apart from mountains...We start off discussing April Fool's Day, which has a surprisingly long legacy, after which we embark for Essex! We begin by talking about a bunch of strange historical quirks in the county, including lots of things to do with ponds - ones in which dead pirates have oak trees growing out of their chests, or where, for centuries, people have been drawn out into Epping Forest to end their own lives, or the one where Matthew Hopkins, Witch Finder General, began his reign of terror ducking witches. All before Martin gets salty, jammy, and slightly fishy in pursuit of this week's County Dish...Next, we dig into some folklore, including six different dragon legends, a contender for the title of 'England's Most Haunted House,' Ralph of Coggeshall and more, all informed by some excerpts from Saturday's upcoming Local Legends interview with Ailsa Clarke and Bethan Briggs-Miller, hosts of the brilliant Eerie Essex podcast. Then it's on to the main event: Martin's telling of "The Rage of Boudica." So, if you're even partway Roman, you'd best start running now!We really hope you enjoy the episode, and we will be back on Thursday with a new Magic and Medicines bonus episode about Leech Books and Early Medical Texts, all before the full interview with Ailsa and Bethan comes out on Saturday! The Three Ravens is an English Myth and Folklore podcast hosted by award-winning writers Martin Vaux and Eleanor Conlon.Released on Mondays, each weekly episode focuses on one of England's 39 historic counties, exploring the history, folklore and traditions of the area, from ghosts and mermaids to mythical monsters, half-forgotten heroes, bloody legends, and much, much more. In this episode, I spoke with Bethan Jones about her book "The Truth Is Still Out There: 30 Years of the X-Files". In September 1993, a TV show like no other appeared on our screens, asking us to consider the essence of truth and belief, to think about the nature and roles of science and humanity, and to question what we were told by those in power. Combining horror, science fiction, drama, crime, and comedy with cinematic filmmaking, The X-Files transported the paranoia of the sixties and seventies to the technologically savvy nineties as it followed two iconic characters, FBI Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully.

Hello and welcome to WGSN's fortnightly Create Tomorrow podcast, bringing you the latest innovations impacting the future of design and product. In this episode, we dive into the big sea a new documentary exploring the connection between the $10b surfing industry and Cancer Alley in Louisiana in the US. Chris and Bethan discuss greenwashing and more about the film because it demonstrates the crucial role designers and brands can and must play in creating a better future for people and the planet.
