Once you let anger into your life, once you let it motivate or animate you, it's very hard to get rid of. It's hard to find a substitute that measures up. It's hard to let it go.
Biff Henrich, original member of the Vores, Visited the Flamingo Lounge on August 13 to review the history of the band and share some original music. The Vores first stalked the stages of Buffalo rock events during the New Wave era of the late 1970s and early 1980s. Their music was labeled punk at the time, but much of the tense dissonance they perpetrated was actually ahead of its time. Their style of music has since come to be categorized as “Post Punk.” Incorporating elements of punk, funk, pop, no wave, industrial, and surf, The Vores created their own sound. During their initial active period, only a handful of studio recordings were made, and even fewer were released to the public. Comprised of Biff Henrich, Gary Nickard, and others, their most notable release was the “Love Canal” 45, a powerful and direct commentary on the environmental crisis that was unfolding in their own backyard. This song, and their music in general, captured the raw, urban anxieties of the era. The band took an unplanned, unintentional hiatus. As the '80s wore on, the band quit performing in places from New York to Toronto and went on to careers in art, photography, computer software development, and teaching. In 2002, a somewhat miraculous double-disc collection of New Wave era Buffalo music was released. The “This Is It” compilation included a couple of The Vores' recordings, and when a release concert celebration was planned, they were invited to participate. This led to two new CDs of original music: “Moment of Uncertainty” in 2005 and “Common Scar” in 2012.
Have you ever wondered what happens the moment you die? I've been there—six times. I saw otherworldly realms, celestial beings, and the shocking truth about consciousness. The afterlife is not what we've been led to believe. This is the knowledge they've hidden from us.

Very long day today. Visited a lot of places I normally do not visit. Had some decent variance. Also played some longer sessions that I normally would. Overall good day, but very tired by the time I got back to my room around 1:00 a.m.
Amoray Dive Resort is considered the only true dive resort in the continental US, with it's dedicated dive boat literally outside the door of some of the hotel rooms.I fell in love with this dive resort last year when I visited, so I returned a year later to interview the rest of their staff. With a fully staffed dive shop on site, gear, and even a filling station, it makes diving easy.I was asked so many times if this was “Amy Slate's place?” that I thought it was important to show the renovated room interiors, and how well-kept the place was. They retained the old Keys charm, but upgraded the interior where it counts. The boat is ideal for easy, family-oriented diving that caters to newbies, snorkelers, and shallow scuba diving. But don't be fooled, some of the best variety of shipwrecks are in the Keys and the Spiegel Grove is just offshore Key Largo, and Amoray does do dedicated trips for Advanced Divers. They offer scuba certification, dive guides, rental gear, and apparently are expanding into a live aboard catamaran option (I'll have more details on that when I return in December for the boat parade!). I should also mention they let you take bicycles and snorkel gear offsite to places like John Pennekamp State Park, and even have SUP, Kayak, Jet Skis on site. They also do magical sunset cruises, which IMHO is one of the crown jewels of the Florida Keys. But the thing that intrigued me the most about this resort was actually the staff. Just like my last interview with the owner of the dive resort (Jeff Gneiser), I am fascinated with how they can keep the vibe going with the resort AND boat staff, and this time after even more time had passed. So many places lack customer service and experience staff burnout in this industry, yet this place seemed to be the contrary. The staff seemed happy, the boat captain and mates literally sang and danced on the way back in from the dive, and everyone was in a great mood every time I spoke with them, and were actually helpful. If you just want a comfy place to stay with a genuine Keys vibe, easy diving or snorkeling, and close to the major attractions, Amoray Dive Resort is it.PS: They offered me a discount code for listeners:sweetwater25*I'm still working on that on-site Tiki Bar

Jesus wants His Bride, the Church, to be known for what she does, not only for what she doesn't do.In other words, Jesus wants Christians to care for the hurting, to see them and to meet their needs personally. In fact, in Matthew 25:35-36, He says, "for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me," saying that when any of these benevolent deeds were done to the least of His brethren, it was done to Christ Himself. When we minister to those in need, we are doing it unto Christ the Lord. Imagine having the opportunity to serve Jesus a meal, or to visit Him in His time of need? We wouldn't hesitate! In this lagniappe edition, I exhort believers to answer the call to serve the way Jesus does - an exhortation I am experiencing ever so personally this week!!(RAR2025EP29)

Visited in dreams by his ancestor Beatriz, Gabriel awakens to faith and escapes into a dangerous, unknown world. In Louisiana, the Creole tribe teaches him the old ways, and across his journey—through love in the desert among the Jews, slavery under Texas cowboys, and ultimately discovery in Mexico—Gabriel grows from a weak boy into a strong man of faith.
